31 Days of Halloween: Day 12 - When Witches Go Riding

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Laurie here again with a fun ATC for day 12 of our annual 31 Days of Halloween celebration.  I hope you have been following the blog this month and are busy making some festive projects to enter for the chance to win some free stamps.

For this ATC, I used the ATC Grunge Tree stamp and the Witch stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs, and the Witches Go Riding clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

For my background, I used a piece of coffee stained paper that I had on hand.   I stamped the grunge tree with black ink, then cut my piece to ATC size (2 1/2 by 3 1/2").  I edged it with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to keep that vintage-y look and feel.

I stamped my witch with black ink onto white paper and fussy cut her.   I colored her and her broom with Copic Sketch markers, mostly using shades of gray.  I glued her atop my background as shown.

I then stamped my sentiment  (this sentiment is actually four lines long but I just used the first line) with black ink onto a piece of an old book page and edged it with black ink.  I attached it as shown, and easy as
1-2-3 my ATC is done!!

Please come join us for this most fun month of the entire year as we celebrate Halloween with a new project every day for 31 days and keep your eyes open for the treats!

Circus Dog and Circles

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the Round and Round challenge going on now here on the portal.

This time I decided to make an ATC.  I took a page from a vintage book and stamped it with the Doodle Circles background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  I edged my ATC with black ink then, using orange, yellow, and green markers, I colored around the edges of all the circles.

Next I stamped a cute pup from the Circus Dogs Set and cut him out, coloring him with a tan marker.  I added a jeweled collar to give him a little bling.  I stamped the rubber ball from the same set and cut it out, coloring it with orange, green, and yellow markers.  I attached it to the lower portion of my ATC, and using foam tape, affixed the dog atop the circus ball.

A Great Way to Experiment.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all,

Lori here, it's time for a new challenge and this week it's all about ATCs, ATC Coins or Chunkys.  I really like these smaller projects; it's a great way to experiment with new products, color schemes and stamps.   For example, the mix of color that I used on the ATCs below is not my go-to color scheme.  However, working with these colors on a smaller scale made it really fun.!

Pearl ATCs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all Cathy here with some ATCs for you.

Stamps Used:
Window and Door set
Fortune Men set
This first one I used glossy cardstock and Distress Oxide sprays. I wanted to see if the sprays would stay on the glossy paper.  It did.  I did wipe off the Oxide (cloudy) film with a baby wipe.  I stamped the door from Window and Door set with archival ink so it would stay on the glossy paper. Trim it a little to fit on a black ATC base.
Stamp a image from Fortune Men set on white paper and cut out. Add to front then and a saying.

For my next one I wanted to try the Alcohol Pearl ink. Here are some of the ATCs I made with the AI Pearl and regular Alcohol ink.  Can you see the shimmer.
For this one I used the window from the  Window and Door set.  Stamp it with archival ink. Trim it down to fit on a Black ATC base
Stamp the wizard from  Fortune Men set on white cardstock. Color in and cut out. Add to front and also add a saying.

Feline Smiley

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with the gorgeously smiley Lost Coast Designs Cheshire Cat en masse....
Sometimes a large stamp on a small space can have a big impact.
The current challenge here at the Portal to Creativity is Mini Me, so I went with a boat load of ATC's (Artist Trading Cards)
I started by stamping Cheshire Cat with Salty Ocean distress oxide ink on various blue scraps
with Picked Raspberry distress oxide on more scraps
and with Fossilized Amber distress oxide on some other scraps.
I was trying for tone on tone effect.  I found that the oxide ink works better on a smooth or glossy surface than an absorbent one, that it was pretty good with all that texture on this very cool stamp, and that I tended to prefer the results on the paler backgrounds.  Very nice chalk look when it dries as well.
Then I used a Sizzix ATC die to cut out my cats and picked 9 I liked best.  I was heading for my first pocket letter, but got distracted.....  There was this little voice in  my head.  It said
I smilez at you
Nothing beats a feline smile.  I used Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet and the Salty Ocean DOx on various scraps of scraps I had already used and arranged the whole lot on a piece of patterned paper.
Don't forget to link up your small stamped makes by 5 to the witching hour on the 14th for your chance to win Lost Coast Dollars.

Courage, Wisdom & Promise ATC's

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

In keeping with Challenge #54 - Mini Me I wanted to make one of my favorite mini forms of art...ATC's.  Ink Stained Roni here with a fun technique using Marabu Art Crayons.

It's always fun to play with new toys and I recently purchased a set of Marabu Art Crayons just to see what they would do and oh my...are they ever fun!

I started off by rubbing different colored crayons directly onto my rubber stamps.

I misted them with water and let it set for about 10 seconds or so.

I then pressed the watery stamp onto a piece of watercolor paper and let it set there for another 10-15 seconds to make sure the paper soaked up the color.

When I removed the stamp I was left with a really cool watery image as you can see.

I then stamped directly over the image using VersaFine Clair - Morning Mist (gray) to give the image some definition.

Next I scribbled some of the crayons around the images, spreading it around and blending them together with a waterbrush.

After it had dried I used a white gel pen to add a bit of pen work surrounding the image, stamped & added the words and called them good!

It was fun to see how the colors from the stamp floated over the paper creating haunting and sometimes eerie colored images.

It was fun to choose the words for each card...at first I was thinking heart, mind and soul but I wanted something a bit difference and settled upon these.

Hope my little cards inspire you to join in on the fun!!

Three Butterflies

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Oh I love this challenge!  It's Laurie here and I love making small things - ATC's, inches, little bookmarks, etc.  So this is a really fun challenge and gives me a chance to break out some of my smaller LCD and CV stamps.

For this post, I made three ATCs using the ATC Text Set 1 stamp set and the Butterflies Set stamp set, both from Lost Coast Designs.

I created three different backgrounds using Distress Inks and stencils.  I then stamped each of the three ATC text stamps onto my backgrounds and edged them with black ink.  I then stamped a butterfly with black ink, cut it out, and using Copic Sketch markers, colored each in to coordinate with the background colors.  I attached my butterflies as shown and ran a slim strip of black border sticker along the right side of each ATC.

This was such a quick and easy way to make a trio of ATCs - perfect for your swaps!    So let's see what fun things you can make in the Mini Me Challenge!

Hello.  Gail here today with a last reminder for our current challenge

You have until midnight tonight to join up your creations for a chance to win some rubber stamps from Lost Coast Designs or Carmen's Veranda.
I made an ATC using Carmen's Veranda White Cat and Chocolate Breakfast sentiment and Lost Coast Designs Cracked Sky.   I stamped the cracked sky randomly around the ATC and then stamped and embossed the sentiment.  I coloured with Gingerbread and Jumbo Java chalks, diluting them a bit with water and splashing them around to make a chocolatey background.  I used gold and silver pilot markers on the stars and spirals.  Then I stamped and fussy cut White Cat and added him to the ATC.  Look at those eyes!  You are starting to see!!  He has a point.....   Hmmmmm, chocolate.....

WolfQueen ATC

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a ATC for you.
I haven't made a ATC in a very long time. Once I saw Wolf Queen I knew She had to be made into a ATC.

I stamped her on Copic friendly white cardstock and colored her in with Copic markers. Okay first for me, I did a darker color skin tone. I really like how it came out. Next I stamped Wolf Queen on scrap and colored wolf head and feathers and cut out and used foam squares to pop it up. I also offset the feathers to look like there is more.
Then I put some purple distress ink on a craft mat and took a water brush and painted around the image. Used a white pebeo marker and did the beads coming down with it and the center of the flower in her hair.
Thanks for visiting.  I hope you feel inspired you to get out your woman themed stamps and join our challenge.  You have until the end of the month and someone will be the lucky winner of some
 Lost Coast dollars.
