My bright DOTD tag uses the White Nose Sugar Skull from the Three Small Skulls stamp set. I found a quote online and printed it out. The skull is colored with Prismacolor pencils and the background was done with spray inks. A little doodling around the edges and a flower finishes it off.

Day of the Dead Day 5

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

It's Day 5 of Day of the Dead and I'm back to share my creation for the event. Before I do that, I want to remind you that you have until Midnight, December 12th to link up your Day of the Dead project for a chance to win some LCD/CV rubber.

I used Lefty, which is one of my favorite LCD stamps. I created a background with green and orange ink then did a little bit of random stenciling and stamping. I used CV Calligraphy Square to add the background text. I stamped Lefty on a piece of card, cut him out, and colored him with pencils. I wanted to add some words having to do with the Day of the Dead so I did a Google search, found one I liked, and printed it out on my computer.

Well, that's it for today. Don't forget to link up your entry HERE before Midnight, November 12th. Stay tuned tomorrow when I'll get caught up on the list of winners from our past challenges and events, including our most recent 31 Days of Halloween event.

Happy Stamping!

Day Of The Dead - Sue

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, it's Sue here with my Day of the Dead project.
I started by making quite a bright background with stencils and the Agregate background stamp. I liked it a lot but it was too strong for my Sugar Skull Woman, so I put a coat of gesso over the top to calm it down a little.
I stamped her and cut her out and added some doodles and stencilling to blend her in. Then I stamped the Rustic Checkerboard Border so it would match the opposite page in my chippie album. The sentiment is a Carmen's Veranda clear stamp called Broken Look Beautiful

I hope you like her, and that you join in with our Day of the Dead event. Just link up via the linky.
Have a great week, and thanks very much for looking x

Day Of The Dead - Lefty Steps Out

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Day of the Dead celebration here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  Gail here today, and I must admit, this one was a challenge for me.  We don't celebrate Day of the Dead in the UK, and it is probably almost unheard of here in Norway.  But after reading a wonderful piece over at Altered Pages I grabbed Day of the Dead Lefty and made a skelliferous colour explosion that hopefully, will please the ancestors and send them happy to their places of rest for another year.
Lefty is obviously on his way home, beer in hand, after a very successful reunion party

I started by stamping and masking Lefty and then stamping Cracked Grass and embossing with black powder.  Then I coloured the 'grass' red and the areas in between with various Galaxy Markers.  Lefty is coloured with distress inks and gel pens.  Then I decided it needed more skulls and flowers......
These are Cheery Lynn die cuts that I doodled on. The tiny flowers are also Cheery Lynn, coloured with galaxy markers and black and white doodles.  The hearts are some embellishements sent to me by a crafty friend.  I backed the eye and nose holes with black glitter paper.
I backed my panel with a piece of gift wrap that seemed perfect for the theme.
Thanks for dropping by.  If you are creating for Day of the Dead then you can link up your creations to our challenge for a chance to win some Lost Coast Dollars!  Drop by every day this week for more bright and beautiful inspiration from the team.  Hugz

Day of the Dead: 3 Sugar Skulls

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie!  Here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity we are celebrating Day Of The Dead.  So I got myself the set of 3 sugar skulls from Lost Coast Designs, and when I started my project for this event, I could not decide which one to use.  So I used them all!!  You can buy each individually in a larger size or the set of  3 Small Skulls.

And since I decided to use all three, I decided to stick with a color scheme.   I started by stamping my skulls on white card stock with black ink.  Then I colored each using Copic sketch markers, in colors of red, orange, black, and yellow.  I left the teeth white and just outlined around them with a fine point black marker.  I added some googly eyes - I think it kind of makes them come to life.  Then simple mounting on a piece of Halloween scrapbook paper layered with white then black card stock.  These sugar skulls look good in almost any color combinations, so be creative and go crazy!!

You can link up your Day of the Dead projects for a chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.

Hello all Cathy here with my Day of the Dead project.
I started of with a wooden stand and I painted it black. As it was drying I stamped winged skeleton onto white cardstock. Colored the heart with a red copic marker. Next I cut out the image.

Then I glued it to my painted wood piece. Then I glued the flowers to the bottom.
Enjoy.
