Let's Celebrate: Birthday Chi chi

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the "Let's Celebrate" challenge going on here on the Portal right now.  This one runs until the 14th of this month so you still have time to make something fabulously celebratory to enter for a chance to win some free stamps.  And we love to see what you all are creating!

For this birthday card I used the  Queen of Everything clear stamp, the Coffee Chihuahua Katzelkraft stamp from Lost Coast Designs, and the smallest butterfly stamp from the Butterfly Set at Lost Coast.

I created my background using Oxide Distress Inks on watercolor paper.  I stenciled my ink colors onto the paper then spritzed it generously with water, let it run a bit, then set it with a heat gun.  I stamped the butterfly randomly with black ink and also edged the panel in black.

I then stamped my little Chihuahua onto white paper with black ink and cut him out.  I colored him with Copic Sketch markers and added some gold pen to the spikes on his red collar.
I positioned him on my card front then stamped my sentiment onto a white square with black ink.  I trimmed it down to size, edged it with black, and positioned it so my little Chi chi is holding it up and glued both down.  Final step was to layer this with a white panel and you've got a fun birthday card for any dog lover!

Come celebrate with us at the Lost Coast Portal and share your creations!!

Halloween Celebrate it

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a Halloween celebrate it card.
Of Corse right.

Stamp Used: Witch2

I started out with my first ever gelli print. I did not blend it well so I'm using it today for a background.
I used a red/orange for the top and a yellow for the bottom. ( hence the scrap from Freidafest I used in day 2) Splattered Nuance powers that I made into a liquid first on the gelli plate then I pulled the print.
Next I die cut out a tree and fence from paper. Paint the fence with some gray and brown to make it look old.
Make the moon by using a mask of a circle and blending out some black ink from the center. Color in with yellow Copic and then add sparkle. You can't see it in the photo but it is there.
Next stamp Witch2 were you want here. Stamp again on white cardstock and color with Copic and cut out.  Add your cut out witch to cover right where you stamped it out on the front. Now to add your die cuts you have.
I drew on some grass on the grass part of it.

Happy Halloween

Don't forget to add your Celebrate it to the challenge here.
Can't wait to see what you share.

Frank and Maureen's Big Day Remembered

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here.  The team is having a real blast with the current challenge theme of Celebrate It!!  If you can make a party out of it then we want to see your makes.  Don't forget we need to see real rubber or clear stamping and the theme as the focus of your project for it to have a chance to win the wonderful Lost Coast dollars.

Today I made a Happy Anniversary card for Frank and Maureen
There they are on the happy day.  Frank looking particularly dashing in his new Crushed Olive jacket with Pine Needles trousers.  Maureen had taken fashion consultant Igor's advice and gone with a Wilted Violet hair wash to match the Shaded Lilac dress.  Frank though Igor the photographer hadn't quite centered the subjects, but Igor the cardmaker said hang it all a bit squiffy and no one will notice.  So we did!  What a day!!

The Door stamped with London Fog memento ink and coloured with distress inks.
American Gothic Party stamped on gold mirror card, embossed with black powder and then cut inside the frame.
I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Frank and Bride of Frank and stamped the words from Misc. Words on gold mirror card, embossed with black powder and cut with a stitch die.

Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Roni here today.

I had so much fun with this card.... I started off by scribbling watercolor art crayons by Marabu all over the card panel then blending with water.  When I liked the colors I left it to dry. I then stamped the flourish over the entire panel.

I stamped the head and words on white cardstock. The head was watercolored and fussy cut. It was then mounted on the card with double sided tape. Each of the words was cut from the cardstock and mounted on the right side of the card. I used a black fine tip pen to outline each of the words.

Slow Dumb Stuff.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
It's Dot here with a tutorial for you.
Have you ever made something and then right at the end you made a mark that just wasn't meant to be there?
That is exactly what happened when making this card.
I felt like I was totally relating to these fun words from Carmen Veranda!

I loved matching this wise lady with these words.
This is how it all came together ...

Step 1:  I've a little collection of scrap backgrounds - don't we all? The background was made ages ago when I was playing around with my new Distress Oxides and seeing what yellow and pink looked like together.

Step 2:  I cut a hole in some paper toweling and used it as a 'window' to choose the area that I wanted to use for my background. I didn't want to miss out on some good splats. I then trimmed this down.

Step 3:  I stamped and coloured 'Coffee' with my inktense pencils.  Then cut here our.  She was an easy image to cut out.

Step 4:  For the words I used Slow Dumb Stuff. These are words to live by!!! I really related to them, and I KNOW that my friends will too. I masked off one lot of words, inked them up and stamped them above where she was going. For this I placed her on the card so that I had an idea where to stamp. Then I cleaned the stamp and did the same for the rest of the words - stamping them under where she was going to be.

Step 5:  A little stenciling with Distress Ink.  Some stamping of Long Swirls using Distress Oxides finished off the background ... or so I thought!

I accidentally dropped my black inkpad onto the background!

Step 6:  Time to fix up the unwanted ink mark.  I simply ripped up some washi tape (the same as what was used for masking off the words) and covered the mark.  I liked it, so I added more here and there so that it didn't look odd. I even put some under her feet so that she had something to stand on.

Step 7:  I couldn't resist putting a few black painty circles onto the background to help the washi tape blend in more. Water spray lids and pen lids were handy for this.  Then it was time to mount the piece onto some black and white cardstock.

I was really 'living the words' when making this one.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

There is still time to enter our challenge this fortnight.
It is all about Faces.

You can enter by clicking on the challenge here,
or over on face book.  Either way you'll be in with a chance to win.

Happy Stamping
Dot x

The Other Side of a Kiss

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today.   For my inspiration piece for the current Face On challenge I used the kissing technique.  This is where you stamp one stamp onto another inked stamp to remove some of the ink and give a subtle pattern.
I stamped and masked the Geisha, inked the large rectangle Shadow Frame with pink distress oxide ink, pressed the Bamboo stamp into it, then stamped the Shadow Frame over the masked Geisha image.  This gives that ghosty bamboo look.  Then I stamped the Carmen's Veranda Quiet Chaos Madness sentiment.

I was kissing with the Bamboo stamp from the Asian set and decided not to waste an inked stamp!!
For this second card I stamped and masked the Geisha again and then stamped the pink distress oxide inked Bamboo.  She looks so thoughtful.  I thought this would maybe make a good thinking of you or even a sympathy card.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to join the fun with your stamped projects featuring a human face for your chance to win Lost Coast Design $$$$.

Include A Human Face: The Girl With A Curl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie on this 22nd day of June with a project for the current challenge here on the Portal:  Include a Human Face.  So we want you to put a human face on your project and you can do that any way that appeals to you.

I have made a square collage piece using the  Girl With A Curl stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the Postcard Background from Carmen's Veranda.

I started by stamping the girl onto a scrap of cream paper then tore around the edges to give it a rough look.  I added just a hint of color with some pink Distress Ink to her cheeks.
I had on hand some Tim Holtz decorative tissue paper that I had dyed using coffee.  I stitched my girl's face onto a square piece of that tissue paper.  Next I took some leafy die cuts and stamped them with the Postcard Background stamp to add some text, then glued them to opposing corners.

For the final step, I took a rough edged piece of hand made cream paper and stitched my tissue paper square to that.  I love this Girl With A Curl stamp and like the vintage-y feel of this collage piece.

Out for a stroll

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a fun card for you today. A ballerina taking a fish out for a under the sea stroll.
Stamps Used:
Ballerina with fish
Stay weird
Fish
So I started off with I think are index cards. I got them in a grab bag at a thrift store. I thought they were photo paper but they were not. I used dylusions  sprays on them. I sprayed 3 pieces so I could pick out the one I liked best.
I stamped Ballerina with fish on white cardstock and color in with Copic markers. The outfit was the same color purple as the hat but a little paint drop changed the color of it to teal.
Anyway cut out and set aside.

Next add some seaweed to the bottom of the card. Start off with some green ink through a stencil.   At this point stamp Ballerina with fish on the card so you know where to place it. Move the stencil and use paint to give it depth and texture. Set aside to dry.
Stamp 3 Fish on top of the card.

Add your cutout Ballerina with fish on top of the one you stamped on you card. (this is where I messed up) Take that stencil again and with a different paint color add some seaweed in front of
Ballerina with fish. For me I had to repaint the outfit and then I added some glitter dots to make it stand out.
Lastly stamp Stay weird on black cardstock and emboss with white power and cut out and add to card. Edge whole card with black ink.
Join the fun here at the blog or over at the Facebook group. Can't wait to see what you came up with.
