Driving Home For Christmas

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Hope you are having an awesome July.  I've been having fun today with a Christmas In July idea I had for Carmen's Veranda Old Truck and Lost Coast Designs Gnomes.  Unfortunately the original gnomes were too big, but now Linda is releasing mini versions and they fit perfectly.  Let's get merry......

I stamped Old Truck, the Mini Gnomes and part of Megan's Christmas Bird, coloured with watercolour pencils and fussy cut.

For the background I stamped Lost Coast Designs Trees in black, a yellow circle and gave the rest a blue watercolour wash.  I put the baubles around the back of the truck and added mini Silly Gnome to the truck bed.  I did a bit of snipping and managed to get mini Pompom Gnome in the driving seat LOL.  I cut around the trees leaving a wide border at the bottom, added the truck and stamped the Party Words Merry Christmas.
Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to join the Christmas in July fun and link up your stamped Christmas makes for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

#187 Christmas in July. Christmas baby angel.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello dear blog visitor, Riet here.
Christmas, before you know it, it's already here.
So you better start making your Christmas cards early.
And then you can participate in the challenge and perhaps become the winner.
You can even participate with stamps from other brands.
So that should work, right?

And now the tutorial for this card.
What I used:

Versafine onyx black
Distress oxyde Barn door and Lucky clover
Americana acrylic paint,
Yellow green
Bahama blue
Dessert turquoise
White acrylic paint or marker
Black fineliner
Color pencils
Black marker

I started by making a few backgrounds with the 3 colours of acrylic paint.
I did that with the brayer.
Roll out the colours until you are satisfied with the result.
If you don't have a brayer you can use a brush or sponge.

The brush strokes sheet shows the two edges I used.
I stamped the first one with the oxide barn door.
And the second one over it with the Versafine onyx black.

I make splashes with the white acrylic marker.
Set it aside to dry.

Stamp the baby and the angel wings with the versafine.
Colour with pencils or markers, whatever you like best.

Take a piece of background and stamp the text on it.
Use a thin fine liner to scribble an edge under the words.
Stamp on the right side the same as the border of the card.
Make a black border around it with a black marker.

Glue the baby angel and the text onto the card.
Use distress oxide lucky clover and a brush,
to create shadows around the baby angel.

Have you made Christmas cards yet?
Take part in the challenge and you could be this month's winner.
You don't even need to have Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda stamps to participate but we love it when you do!
Hope to see you in the challenge.

#187 Christmas in July, Mistletoo greetings.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
I love Christmas so much.
Decorating the house, making cards and presents.
Being together with the people you love.
And of course all the delicacies that come with it.
I like it all.
But now over to the tutorial.

Stamps I used:
Each snowklake is 2inch
Goth Mistletoe
(Apologies, the goth mistletoe is no longer available.)

What I used:
Glimmermist or any spray with mica in it.
In light green dark green and rusty orange color.
Orange/rust color embossing powder.
Distressink:
Rusty hinge
Tea dye
Vintage photo
Peeled paint
Shabby shutters
Derwent inktense pencils
Versafine onyx black
Versamark
Small tag
Banner die

How to make the card.
I started by spraying the glimmer mist.
Let this dry thoroughly with the heat tool.

Stamp the large snowflakes along the sides of the card with versamark.
Sprinkle the embossing powder on top and heatset it.

Stamp the Goth mistletoo with versafine black and color with the 3rust/brown pencils.
I made the berries and leaves green with a little distress ink Peeled paint.
With Rusty hinge, Tea dye and Vintage photo
I spunged the adges off the tag.

Cut a second tag 2mm larger on all sides
and make the edges green with the Distress ink Peeled paint.

Die cut the banner and stamp the "Merry Christmas on it.
Color the banner green with the ink blender and Peeled paint.

Assemble the card and mat it with a matching color cardstock.

Hope you guys liked it.
And feel free to show us what you make.
Maybe you are the winner of this challenge.
Until next time.

Say It Big

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Happy 4th July!!!   We are kicking off the festive season this month with Christmas in July.   It's nice to make a few cards at a time and the heat of summer is the perfect time to think snowflakes and ice.  Especially if it's in a long drink LOL.
No snowflakes or ice on this one, just an elf and a little red, white and blue.
I stamped Lost Coast Designs Flagstone Background with Ice Blue ink and realised I really need to clean my stamps sometimes.  But it's quite a nice shade of uh, rose?? so I stamped the large Rectangle Shadow Frame with Carnation Red archival.  I'd stamped, coloured and fussy cut this little Carmen's Veranda Elf and decided all it needed was a big sentiment.  License Plate Alphabet to the rescue.....
