A bit of Inspiration - Steampunk Card by Roni

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hurry Hurry!
Only a short time left to join in the current challenge
No Body Here

I wanted to play with the Steampunk Pony and since the challenge is No Body Here this is a perfect opportunity.   The image was stamped with Pinecone VersaFine Clair which was then highlighted with red, blue and green Memento Dual Tip Markers.  I scribbled a bit on the tag to make it look like someone was making chicken scratch notes off to the side.  It was grunged up a bit to give it a more authentic "vintage" feel to it then I stamped Dream and Inspiration.

The background was made by tearing pieces of Rinea Foiled Paper to bits then affixing them to a piece of cardstock.  Once the cardstock was completely covered I ran it through my die-cut machine with a gear embossing folder by sizzix.

As it happens the Lost Coast Portal is sponsoring the current challenge at
Allsorts - Tags, Tags, Tags!  Be sure to check it out and double your challenge fun!

Pina Colada

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with a tag and some fun news!!

Doesn't Carmen's Veranda Pineapple make a fun shaped tag??!  I stamped it using Tangerine chalk ink, coloured with yellow and lime green Promarker and fussy cut it.  Then I stamped the leaves again on green card, fussy cut them and offset them slightly to give a lime green shadow.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda's Never Too Late sentiment and added some neon wool to make a fun birthday themed tag.   I thought this was perfect for our No Body Here challenge (No People) and it also fits the Allsorts Tag challenge which Lost Coast Designs is sponsoring for the next two weeks!!!  How awesome is that!!!

Allsorts Challenge

Hop over to the Allsorts blog for all the details, and there is also a discount code there that you can use at Lost Coast Designs!!  Really awesome!!

Caffinate Tag

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a tag for you.
I hope you are enjoying the Summer.
I started out with I tag I had in my stash that I had made awhile ago. I want to say it made with distress ink but I cant say for sure. I know I have black paint splatters on it.
The xxxx's are glossy texture paste with some black paint to color it through a stencil.
Next I stamped the Happy Cat on the bottom of the tag. I stamped it again on white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. Cut out and added it the cat on the tag.
Then I stamped corner swirl in gray ink around the edges of the tag.
I stamped Rise and Shine saying above the cat's head .
Come join the fun here.

Lazy No Body?

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Lazy No Body?

Hello all,

I’m back with an amusing card for the “No Body Here” Challenge.   I just loved the Grumpy Penguins set the minute I saw it and I thought it paired nicely with the “Lazy” sentiment stamp from the Carmen’s Veranda collection. And...I can admit that, on occasion, I have been known to have “selective participation” when it comes to work!  But, hey, we should all be allowed a few lazy moments, right!?!

Lost Coast Designs Stamps:
  • Grumpy Penguins
  • Fibers Background
  • Joy (dictionary print)
  • Lazy sentiment

Other Materials:
  • Pan Pastels
  • Ranger Archival Ink, Jet Black
  • Ranger Dye Ink, Cool Graphite
  • Twine
  • String
  • Adhesive pearls
  • Metal Charms
  • White and Black card stock
  • Paper tab

Instructions:
  1. On a white card stock panel (4” x 5 ¼”), use Pan Pastels to add color.
  2. Using the Fibers stamp with Cool Graphite ink, stamp over the entire panel.
  3. Next, stamp partial images (just small sections of the stamp) with the Fibers stamp across the background, with Archival Jet Black ink.
  4. Again, with Archival Jet Black ink, stamp partial images; this time with the Joy Dictionary print.
  5. On a 2” x 3” piece of white card stock, stamp the largest Grumpy Penguin with Archival Jet Black ink.  Add some color to the Penguin as well as around the outer edges of this pieces with Pan Pastels.
  6. Mount the penguin panel onto a piece of black card stock (2 ¼” x 3 ¼”).
  7. Add adhesive pearls and a paper tab to the penguin element.  See card for placement.
  8. Adhere Penguin panel to center of background panel.
  9. Stamp half of sentiment “lazy is a very strong word.” above the penguin with Archival Jet Black ink.
  10. Color the edges of a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ card face (top folding) with Pan Pastels.
  11. Edge background panel and card base with Archival Jet Black ink.
  12. Adhere background panel onto card base.
  13. Tie twine around top of card.
  14. Stamp the rest of the Lazy sentiment into the center of the card.
  15. Done.

I sure hope you join us for this challenge as I love to seeing your projects.  Just create a project that fits in with this week’s challenge and link them to the No Body Here Challenge post.

Happy day!

The moment you realize....

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Ink Stained Roni here with a fun "No People" card to share with you!
I am so excited about this card because despite it having no people, this is my life in a nutshell - LOL!!

I knew the moment I saw this Monkey Face stamp I had to make something with it. Pair it with one of my favorite sayings - Not My Circus and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

So I started off by stamping the monkey face at the bottom of the card panel then began writing this sentiment over and over on the background....  " That moment you realize this IS your circus and they are your monkeys."    Next I stamped the "Not my Circus" stamp over the panel multiple times. Finally I colored his face using Prismacolor colored pencils.  I'm just so tickled with how well he turned out.

Are you up for the challenge?

Are We There Yet

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Friday! Woo-hoo it's the weekend, and it's Sue here with my 'Nobody's Here' piece.

I know, it's that book again! But if you look carefully you'll see that it's the Back page AND it's more Bird Bones - can I stop beginning with B now??
Again this is just simple stamping as these stamps speak for themselves (or is that just the voices in my head).
Bird Bones has been stamped and embossed then coloured with Distress Inks.
The Large Chickenwire Background has been put on the stamping platform and stamped with Distress Oxides. Then I've moved it slightly and stamped in another colour, then repeated again.
I just thought that the bird looked as if he'd been waiting a while - I could just imagine him in the back of the car saying 'are we there yet'
I've really enjoyed making this book, and it's the perfect size to make a little bit of something to go in.  When you don't want to make a card ( or if you're like me and you've run out of people to send them to) or you don't have a lot of 'me' time, If you've got half an hour you can make something either straight in the book, or to stick in later.
There's still lots of time to enter our fun challenge, and I really hope you do.
Have a great day, and thanks very much for looking x

Three Wise Monkeys

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Howdy to all from Laurie!  This second half of July has us working on the latest challenge:  "No Body Here".  So we are looking for your creations that feature no people, aka "no body".

I created a card for this challenge using the Three Monkeys stamp from Lost Coast designs.
I stamped my three monkeys onto white card stock, cut them out, and colored them with Copic markers.  I took a background paper I had created using my Gelli plate, brown and orange acrylic paints, and an impression plate.  I added come metallic accents and a bit of orange Distress Ink as highlights.

I circle punched three holes along the middle of my background paper.  I then die cut some circular frames out of brown paper and attached those around my punched circles.  I dotted those brown frames with copper ink.  Using the ATC Misc. 6 Set from Lost Coast Designs, I stamped some small script onto tan paper and backed each of my circles with it.  I then attached each of the three monkeys atop the backgrounds.

Using my printer and some orang-ish card stock, I printed the words, cut them out, outlined them in black, and affixed them as shown with foam tape.  I layered the card front to a dark brown panel, and fini!
So get out your stamps and ink pads and let's see what you can create with "nobodys"!

B is for Bottles by Roni

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello friends...Roni here with another "B" project to inspire and encourage you to join in on the "B" fun while there is still time!

This card was made using the lovely Perfume Bottles set of stamps.
I just love these as they are so versatile and the coloring/embellishing options are endless.

Each bottle was stamped 3 times...once for the bottle, ones for the label and a third time for the "extras" either the bottle cap, accent or ribbon.

I colored them with a combination of markers, colored pencils and even a bit of watercoloring thrown in for good measure.

After everything had dried I fussy cut it all out, layered and glued it all down.

The background is the revers of a stencil and words from the "Misc. Words" sheet of stamps.

Hope you join in the fun!!

Butterfly Trio with Roni

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends!

Today I wanted to share a card that was inspired by challenge #56 - "Things that Start with "B"!

I knew I wanted to make a butterfly card so I stamped 3 of the 5 butterflies from the "Butterfly Set" onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I then scribbled Marabu Art Crayons onto my craft mat and began to play! I used a waterbrush to mix and pick up the medium to paint each butterfly.

After each butterfly had been painted and the paint allowed to dry I fussy cut them each out of the cardstock.

I created a background for the butterflies, again using Marabu Art Crayons (for more information on how I went about creating this background, please see - B is for Butterfly).

Next I roughly placed the butterflies on the panel to determine correct placement. Once satisfied with the lay-out I stamped the butterfly directly on the green panel - by doing so I didn't have to worry about cutting around all of the little antenna since they are already on the card!

I stamped the sentiment (Art Wings to Fly) among the butterfly images then mounted the water colored butterflies over the stamped butterflies.  I gave them a bit of dimension by gluing their bodies directly to the panel but adhering the wings to the card using double stick foam tape.

Hope this has inspired you to play along with our challenge!

Blue Button Butterfly Girl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello from Laurie with another project for the Something that Starts with B challenge.
I made this card using the Button Girl stamp from Lost Coast Designs.
I stamped my Button Girl onto white card stock with black ink.  I gave her face some color and colored her hair brown. I used Copic Sketch markers for all the color on this card.
I then colored her butterfly wings with three shades of blue and added some a few touches of white with a Gel pen.  I colored the lettering on her dress with blue as well and added a bit of gray to darken up her boots.

I cut her out and glued on two white buttons and some lace trim to the bottom of her dress.  When I cut her out, I did not cut the "halo" she is wearing.  I decided even my pretty good fussy cutting skills were not up to that!  So once she was all finished, I stamped her head onto some blue patterned scrapbook paper, then I glued my completed girl on top so that her "halo" shows.  I dotted the circles in her halo with white Nuvo Crystal drops.  I stamped some mini flowers over the background with blue ink and dotted the centers with white.
Finally I outlined the edges with blue marker and layered the finished piece with a piece of white card stock.

Wouldn't this be a fun card for some special little girl?
Show us what you can create that starts with the Letter B!!

Bee and Butterfly

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with my things that start with B.
I started out with a paper Mache ornament and  painted it with some art alchemy dark velvet color paint. As that was drying I took a die and made the crest and leaves out of Kraft cardstock. Then I stamped the Bee from the Bugz Set  on the crest.  I thought it needed more so I stamped the Mini Crown from Mini Crowns set.  Edged the crest with some brown distress ink and set aside. Then I colored the leaves with some green distress ink. Set them aside. I did stamp Gothic Text  on the paper Mache in black ink but you can not see it.
Then you glue everything down. Last I edged the circle with a thin line of black paint.
So I have a bonus card for you. I so forgot I had this one made for the things with a B challenge so you get a bonus idea from me.
It is a CAS card. Well to be truthful. It did not start out that way. I tried using Nuance Powers and painters tape. Didn't work. The tape tore the paper. Insert mad face here. Grrrr. So I just cut the Bubble Border  out. Added it to a black card front. Then I stamped the Butterfly on the torn paper and water colored in. I did add some sparkle to the wings.
Come take up the challenge of Things that start with B.

Bloke in a Blue Bowler

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!

Happy 4th of July

Gail here today with some inspiration for Lost Coast Designs
I Spy...Something Beginning with B challenge.
And since it's the 4th I thought I'd go red, white and Blue.

I have used Carmen's Veranda Charlie Chaplin, An Apple a Day sentiment and the gorgeous Lost Coast Designs Shooting Star background.
I started by stamping and embossing Charlie with black embossing powder and fussy cut him.  Then I stamped his hat and embossed it with blue glitter embossing powder.  This is a party afterall!!  With this stamp the top of his hat is chopped off but I simply extended and rounded it when I fussy cut it.  I was going to use the blue glitter powder on the top as well, but decided to go with the red instead.  Bling!!  Which is also a B word!  I added a bit of detail with a white gel pen and a couple of blue polka dot bows.

I stamped the Shooting Star background using blue die ink.  Isn't that lovely!!  Or maybe I should say Beautiful!!
I used Sizzix Deckle Edge die to cut the blue panel, stamped the sentiment and edged the panel with the blue dye ink and mounted everything on a red base card.

A Bloke in a Blue Blingy Bowler!!

How many Things Beginning with B can you get on your stamped makes??  Join the fun for your chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

Keep It Shut!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Monday. It's Sue here again and I'm going to show you how I made my mini book for the 'Something Beginning With B Challenge'

I started by cutting out my pages and covers with the Eileen Hull Passport die. I've used chipboard for the covers as it's nice and strong.

You saw these guys yesterday - this is the inside of the front cover.

And this is the inside of the back. They've both just been stamped and heat embossed - nothing fancy needed to show off these fab stamps.

For the binding of the book I've used canvas so that it will stand up to wear and tear. I've coloured it with Distress Inks, then stamped the Large Chickenwire Background. Onto a piece of white card I've stamped Feather Bird and heat embossed him. Then I've stamped the Doodle Circles over the top with Distress Oxides, wiped away any that went over the bird, then clear embossed. Then I've just attached the front and the inside front panel to the chipboard and the binding, added some twine and we're all done!
Who's a pretty boy then! I love the Carmen's Veranda sentiment My Greatest Accomplishment, it just about sums up my life lol.
Of course there is a back cover too, buy you'll have to come back later in the month to see that!
So now you've seen my B's I hope you join in with some of your own - remember there's rubber up for grabs!
Have a fun week, and thanks very much for looking x
