#125 Christmas in July

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi stampers, here a tutorial from me, Riet.
For the christmas in july challenge,
I made this wooden heart wall hanger.

To start, I painted the heart dark brown with acrylic paint.
When the paint was dry I used crackle medium from Americana Decor.
I let this dry overnight.
I'd rather not do it with the embossing tool.
I don't think the cracks work very well this way.

When the crackle medium was dry I went over it with a beige/sand coloured acrylic paint.
I also let it air dry.
I love the way it turned out.

In the meantime I coloured the Santa with distress ink.

I used these distress ink, colours for this:
For his suit, Shabby shutters, Rustic Wilderness.
Face, Tattered rose, Cheeks Aged mahogany.
Bond edges, Antique linen, Pumice stone.
Stripes on Santa's pants, Antique linen.
Santa's boots, Gathered twigs.
Santa's bag, Fired brick.

I coloured a sheet of paper with Shabby shutters, Rustic Wilderness.
And a sheet coloured with Fired Brick.
I did this by applying ink to a craft sheet and spraying it with water.
Then you pass the paper through it.
With a number of dies I made the poinsettia and the holly leaves.
I did the same with the bow and the merry christmas.

Coluor the edges with a brush.
Coloured the berries with a red marker.
And punched the heart of the poinsettia with a yellow piece of paper.

Now put it together and you're done.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial, feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions.
Well this was my contribution to the challenge.
I'm curious what you make of it, and we would love it if you would also participate in the challenge.
And you know what's so nice, you have a chance to win beautiful Lost Coast Design or Carmens Veranda rubber stamps. Please read the rules first to avoid misunderstandings.
Good luck and see you next post.

Festive fun, plaid pants Santa wallhanger

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
Yes christmas is coming.
Love this time of the year.
So I made a wallhanger.

 I used,

Plaid pants Santa

Watercolor paper, 10,5 x 14,8cm  4,1 x 5,8 inches
Stazon midnight blue and Jet black
Distressink vintage photo and antique linen
Color pencils
Silver gellpen
I started with the piece of watercolorpaper.
Stamped the santa on the paper and stamped a mask.
Mask the santa and sponge with the antique linen the card.
Use the vintage photo to ad shadow.
Remove the mask and color the santa.
Color the star and the buttons on his boots with the silver gellpen.
Now for the borderstamp
Take a long piece of paper and stamp the border 4 times with the stazon midnight blue.
Sponge it with the antique linen.
I made some shadow in the corners of the checkers with the vintage photo.
Now make a frame of the border around the card.
I glued 4 hotfix stars and added the chain for hanging.
 I loved making this hanger.
And I really think the checkerd border finished it off.
I love to work with borders, I use them a lot.
Lost coast designs has a lot of great borders.
You can find them here.
