Home on the Range

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today with some more inspiration for the Red, White and Blue challenge.  I'm seeing a lot of dark backgrounds around so I decided to go midnight blue and make a winter scene.
I stamped the navy panel with Lost Coast Designs Small Snowflakes using white ink.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Snow Cowboy with sky blue ink, did some fussy cutting and used a couple of snowy hills dies to cut the snowdrifts.  I used markers to add a little red and blue to the snowman.

#186 Red, White and Blue challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here with a stamp from the new animals serie.

Today a small tag, for the red, white and blue challenge of Lost coast designs.
This challenge runs until the end of the month, so there's still plenty of time to participate.
I stamped with the bird from the new animal series from LCD.
These will soon be for sale in the online store.
And the little swirls are a part of the silhouette dancer.
I also used Stazon Black cherry and Ultramarine.
Distressink barn door and chipped sapphire.
White acrylic paint and a white gelpen.

I started with the red and blue distress ink,
which I spread on my craft sheet and diluted with water.
I painted the top left corner with red.
I did the same with blue around the bird.
A little red on the underside of the bird.
Stamped the text with the blue stazon.
And the swirls are also stamped with the two stazon colors.
Colored the bird with blue and red distress ink.
And gave the bird some accents with the white gelpen.
Splashed some white paint, but first covered the bird with a piece of paper.
Matte the tag with half blue and half red cardstock.
I love the new bird stamp, he has such a funny look.
That's it for this time.

I sincerely hope that you will join the challenge.
Maybe you will be the winner for this challenge,
and you will win new rubber stamps of your choice.

Red, blue and white banner

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a banner for you.

Stamps Used:
New Fox stamp not on site yet.

I started out with a new die set I got. I had to try it out. I started out with the largest one and die cut it out of red paper. I then did the second one out of blue paper and the third one out of white paper.
On the red one I stamped ATC Italian postmark in red ink. On the blue one I stamped Corner swirl in blue ink. On the white one I stamped the Fox in black ink and colored his bowtie in with blue. I then took the  ATC Italian postmark and Corner swirl and stamped them around the fox.
I layered them all on top of each other and there is my banner.

You still have time to join the challenge over at the Lost Coast blog.

#186 Red, white and blue. Lets Party!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello dear card makers and stampers.
Riet here, with today a very easy card.
So it is also easy for beginners.

What I used:
LCD Cari's old woman, party on!
Blue, red and skintone marker, and some light blue for her glasses.
Stazon jet black, (or any black will do).
Stazon Black cherry.

I started by stamping the background Bubbles with the Black Cherry Stazon.
Colored the circles in the white areas with the blue marker.

With white paper and a die, I made a shape for behind the old woman.
Stamped the text with stazon Jet black.
Stick this in the middle of the card with 3D foam tape.

Stamp the old woman with Stazon jet black and color her with the markers.
Cut out the old woman and stick her to the die cut with 3D foam tape.
Glue the whole thing on a double white card and you're done.

Now I hope to see your art in the challenge.
Hope you win the price, which consists of stamps of your own choice.
Isn't that fantastic?

Red, White, and Blue, A Sketch and A Pineapple

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some Red, White and Blue inspiration.  It's not surprizing that so many flags use this combination of colours.  What a striking effect they make.  So grab your reds, whites and blues and your stamps and join the fun!!
I've used a sketch for the basis of my card layout and indulged in some tone on tone stamping.  Lost Coast Designs have so many lovely background stamps that can turn a flat piece of coloured card into a masterpiece.  I used Lost Coast Designs Fruitpods Background, stamped with dark blue ink on mid blue card base for the background.  I stamped Flagstone Background using red ink on red card and cut it with a pennant die.  The stamped Carmen's Veranda White Cat on white card, masked and randomly stamped Carmen's Veranda Pineapple using light blue ink all around the cat.  I didn't use a block, just inked the stamp and rolled it lightly around the cat, reinking between stamping.  I cut some scraps with a thin pennant die, stamped the sentiment and added some heart brads to finish.
I hope you like my card.  Thanks for dropping by.

#186 Red, white and blue challenge. Stars, stripes and clowns.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today a card with the fun big nose and pope clown.
These are really fun for the red, white and blue theme of this challenge.

What I used for this card:
Stencil
Hotfix silver stars and squares.
Distressink:
Pumice stone
Antique linen
Chipped Sapphire
Fired brick.
Versafine Onyx black

I started by giving the white paper a vintage color.
I know it's supposed to be white, but I wanted to give the card a vintage look.
I did that with Antique linen and Pumice stone.

I applied the red and blue distress ink with the stencil and an ink blender.
First one half, then turned the stencil over and inked up the other half of the paper with red.

While the stenciled background is drying, I stamped the clowns with versafine black.

I colored the clowns with the red and blue distredd ink.
Let them dry.

Now continue with 2 strips of paper and repeat the
vintage coloring in the same way as the card.

Stamp the rustic checkerboard border 3 times in red and blue.

Now it's a bit of a puzzle to get the patterns to match as well as possible.

Cut out the clowns and glue them onto the card.
Finish it all off with the silver stars.
Glue on to red and blue cardstock.
This was my contribution to the challenge.
Now I'm curious what you make in red, white and blue.
Maybe something for the 4th of July?
Show us and participate in the challenge.
Wouldn't it be nice if you were the new winner?
You can even participate with stamps from other brands.
That's all allowed, as long as you use stamps on your project or card.

Red, White and Blue Challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for you today.

Stamps Used:

I started out with stamping one of the stamps from Pieces of Calligraphy in blue distress ink. I then edges the sides with the same ink. As I was doing that, I got smudges in the middle of the card because I didn't let is dry long enough. So, what to do add more stamps. I took another stamp from Pieces of Calligraphy and stamped that around to cover up my smudges.
Next, I blended the blue all over the front of the card.
I then took a small butterfly from the Butterfly set and stamped it with red distress in all over the card. Lastly to add my white I added a white frame with a white flourish.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here with a new card for the
Red, white and blue challenge.
How festive that is with the Fourth of July approaching.
This card can also easily be made by a beginner or advanced stamper.
The team would love for you to join the challenge.
So show us what you made with these colors.

Stamps I used:

Color pencils (I used Derwent colorsoft)
Stazon Black cherry
Stazon Midnight blue.

How to make the card.
I started by stamping the manga girl with stazon midnight blue.

Also stamp a mask and masked her off.

The lovely flowers come in 4 sizes and 4 diferent flowers.
Just stamped around the manga girl in red and blue stazon.

Color some of the flowers and leave some white for the contrast.
Color the manga girl.

Take some red white and blue cardstock for the background to matt.
And then you're done.
You could of course further decorate the card with glitter or sequins.
That's up to you.
I often find the simplicity beautiful.
Hope you enjoyed it, and see you next time.
