Colour Challenge: Winged Girl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone!
Today I would love to show you this terra cotta/turquoise card for our Colour Challege.
I made it with my favourite colour combination ánd one of my favourite stamps: Winged Girl. I also used Daisy Flourish and Misc. Words
I started with the two colours ink and water (Adirondack: Terra Cotta and Stream) and I stamped the images with StazOn ink- Jet Black and Blue Hawaii. For the finishing touches I used bleach, charcoal, yellow gel pen, colour pencils and glitter glue.

There's still time enough to choose one of the colour combinations and give it a try!
See you next time, hugs,

LiesbethXX

# 159 "Winged things" challenge , i made a printers tray.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today my contribution to the LCD/CV challenge "Winged things".
I made this printers tray (20x30cm) for a stamp friend's birthday.
It contains quite a few stamps, but I especially like the butterflies.
Here's a list of what I used and a brief description.
Spike and Lucy. (only the girl)
Sentiment from Carmens Veranda,

Distressink
Broken China
Twisted citron
Fossilized amber
Rustic wildernis
Rusty hinge
Black waterproof ink.

For the frame, i used acrylic paint in the same colors.
For the spletters some white and brown paint.
Pencils for coloring.
White gellpen.
Nuvo aqaua shimmer for some glitter accents.
I first drew the frame on paper, so I knew exactly where the compartments were.
This makes it easier to determine where which stamp will be placed.
First I sanded the frame and painted it in various colors.
When that is drying I smeared the ink with water on the paper.
Then I stamped the stamps,
The big butterfly of the Bitterfly set I stamped each wing turned left and right.
And I glued the 3 small butterflies loose so that they have depth.
Then I stamped the background around the stamps.
Color the details with the pencils.
You can finish the it of with a white gel pen.
Don't forget to do some stamping on the edges of the frame as well.
Just splash the white and brown paint and you're done.
make a small Happy birthday tag and bind it to the foil giftrap.
I hope you enjoyed it and that you will soon get started for our challenge.
You can win new stamps, so come and participate.
The challenge runs until the end of this month.
Good luck.

Hello everyone!

For our challenge Tag You're It (Click for participating and information! :-) ) I (Liesbeth) made this tag with the beautiful Winged Girl

Using red Distress ink (Lumberjack plaid) and water, I made a background and I stamped the girl and text Goddes (Mystery Eternity Hope Goddess) with StazOn ink Jet Black. I stamped Daisy Flourish with red a few times. I bleached the woman and finished with yellow and white gel pens and charcoal.

Now it's your turn to make a tag or two ;-) Hope to see you!

Ladies night: winged woman.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, the final Ladies Night blogpost already for our challenge! It's an oldie, but I think it fits perfectly for this theme...oh how I love this stamp! I made the background, and I stamped the flourish both using Distress Oxide inks.I stamped the woman with Black StazOn and masked her, and I stamped the text. With some bleach I highlighted the womans skin and I finished with colour pencils and glitter glue.
There's still a little bit of time to join in, tomorrow a new great challenge starts! 😀

Winged girl for the Myth and Magic challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, LCD fans.
Today I want to show you my last contribution for this month.

It is for the Myth and Magic challenge.
Well I think this winged girl is very magical.
And here is a description of how I made her.

Watercolor paper 14cm x 20 cm,

Stazon timber brown, Distress ink, antique linen, seedless preserves, spiced marmalade, peacock feathers, broken china. Prima marketing vintage pastels watercolor paint. Distress glaze. Black cardstock.
A mask or stencil.
Nuvo aqua shimmer.

I started stamping the winged girl with stazon timber brown. Then with a finger with distress glaze around the stamp, only the outside edge. Then colored the winged girl with the watercolor paint. When it was completely dry I applied the entire stamp with a layer of distress glaze. I sponged the border around the stamp with Distress ink antique linen. Then placed the mask or stencil on the paper and go over it with a sponge with distress glaze. Then you take the 4 distress ink colors and rub some of them on your craft sheet. Spray a little bit of water on it and put your paper on it. You don't have to worry about your image, the distress glaze works as a resist. Let it dry well and matte with black cardboard.

Give the wings, dress and hairband a little bit off aqua shimmer. Have fun and join our challenge at
Lost coast portal to creativity You can also join our facebook group.

Wings of an Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
it's Dot here popping by today as a Guest Designer for
Lost Coast Designs
for the Winged Things Challenge this fortnight.

This Winged Girl NS stamp was the first thing that came
to my mind for this challenge.
She has been stamped onto watercolour card and
coloured with pencils. This is such a relaxing thing for me to do.
She was then cut out and put aside.
The daisies were also stamped onto watercolour card and cut out.
They are from the ATC Doodle Set.
I've left these uncoloured for a little contrast.

The background was made by simply swiping watercolour card
through Distress Oxides on my craft sheet.
To layer the colours up you need to dry between layers.
I added some Mustard Seed Oxides
by stamping it with my acrylic block onto the background.
When you use Oxides on watercolour paper the colour is quite muted.
The yellow gives a lovely pop of colour and lifts the other colours.
There is a little stenciling in the background.
And stamping with Long Swirl.

To finish off the edges have been blended with a little ink.
The girl and daisies were attached.
And then it was mat and layered onto black card.

Thanks so much LCD for having back as a Guest Designer this fortnight.

A reminder that the challenge this fortnight is
Things With Wings.

You can enter on the blog here, or on our facebook page.
There are awesome prizes up for grabs.

I hope you check out what the team has made to inspire you
and that you are able to join in the fun.

Happy Stamping!

On Wings She Flies, Card by Dot

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome back!
I hope everyone has had a fantastic Easter and enjoyed
lots of chocolate.

The On Wings She Flies challenge is still on until the end of this month
so there is plenty of time for you to enter.
You can enter here or over in our facebook group.

This is a one layer card that uses the Winged Girl NS, Daisy Flourish and Arches and Door stamps.
One layer cards using masking is one of my favourite things to do.

Here is how this one came together:

Step 1: Stamp the gorgeous Winged Girl onto some photo copy paper and cut her out. This will be a mask, so it is important to cut her out a couple of millimeters in from the edge of the stamped image. This prevents a shadow around your stamped image when you add the background.

Step 2: Stamp the Winged Girl onto your card. I used archival ink for this. Dry well and place the mask over her. You should see an outline of the underneath image all the way around.

Step 3: Ink up the Arches and Door stamp. I used Rose Madder archival ink, coffee espresso DO and Versafine black ink.  The rose madder is a beautiful pink and I thought the brown ink would go with the pink nicely.  The Versafine is a rich black which is what I wanted as a border. This stamp is placed on your craft sheet without any acrylic block underneath.

Step 4: Place your card onto the inked up stamp. After a fair bit of experimenting, I decided that she looked best when she was over to one side.  This means that part of her is in the doorway. So, bear this in mind when you are placing your card onto the stamp.

Step 5: Being careful, gently rub over the card with your fingers. It's a little like doing a print. I like to keep one hand on the card at all times so that it doesn't move. I did it this way because when I tried to stamp straight onto the card I ended up with shadow effects around the image, no matter how many times to tried to do it.  Doing it in reverse gave me a much better stamped image.  This is due to the Arches and Door being quite a large and detailed stamp. Trim your card down.

Step 6: Leaving the mask in place, randomly stamp some of the Daisy Flourish.  Less is more (yes, I discovered this through trial and error too lol).

Step 7: To make the Daisy Flourish pop a little I've used a white gel pen to add some sketchy detail.  I love how the white gel pen picked up a little of the brown DO and gave a toned effect. It looks so natural. It was a lovely surprise.  It also hides of all the lines from the Arches and Door stamp. I like to use Tea Dye distress ink for skin tones. I just add a little to a craft sheet and spritz with water.  Using a fine brush I can then play with light and shade.  Distress ink is good to use as if you are too heavy with the colour it can be easily removed with a little water.

Step 8: Mat and layer your card onto some card.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
It is a little fiddly, but it is worth having a go.

Variations:
Change the colours.
Change the focal image.
Add some words.

Happy Stamping
Dot x

Goddess

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Saturday. It's Sue here with my Hard As Stone Project.

I started by making a background with Distress Inks. I used Pumice Stone, which has to be my least used ink, but it's just right for the grout effect that I wanted for my stone wall.

Then I stencilled my wall with Scattered Straw and added a border with my new favourite Antique Text border stamp.

I stamped the Winged Girl onto card and coloured her with patina ink then cut out some of the background. Then I stamped her onto thinner card and embossed her in bronze.

This was then backed onto a postcard sized piece of bronze metallic card, and the Goddess from Mystery, Eternity, Hope Goddess  was stamped onto thick velum, embossed in bronze and sewn into place.
I hope that you join in with our challenge - go on, you know you want to, and there's rubber up for grabs.
Have a fab day, and thanks very much for looking xx
