Kissing Mona

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here with some final inspiration for our Face On! challenge.  You have until close of play Pacific Standard Time tomorrow, give or take the summer time thingy, to join the fun and share your stamped makes featuring a human face.  I had the desire to do some acrylic block stamping and decided to throw in a little kissing for good luck!!!!

I used Lost Coast Designs Victorian Mona and Pieces of Calligraphy and
Carmen's Veranda Nights Into Mornings sentiment stamps.

I started by inking an acrylic block with Mowed Lawn and Evergreen Bough distress inks.  I spritzed with water, kissed with the Pieces of Calligraphy stamp and stamped both on the paper.  Hmmmm.....
Since there was still wet ink on both the acrylic block and the stamp I stamped them again under the first impressions.  Hmmmm!!!!!
Then I made a whole sheet of stamping, using the same techniques, varying when and how much I spritzed and stamping off the stamp and the acrylic block all over the sheet until I was happy with the look.
I cut a piece out of my master sheet that I liked using a stitch rectangle die and inked up Victorian Mona hat and dress with green archival ink.  Then I cut partial masks and stamped her face with black archival ink.
Ta Dah!!!!!   She was looking a little green so I used some water and a paper towel and dabbed the distress ink out of her face and bow.
To finish I stamped the Nights Into Mornings sentiment, used some glitter glue on her feathers and necklace and mounted on a dark green base card.

Don't forget to join the fun and have you seen the NEW GNOMES!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Face on: Art Deco Face

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here showing you a Face On card for our challenge, you can still join us!
I love this beautiful stamp so much! I stamped her (using my good old Memories ink, it works with every ink!) with dark brown on a piece of white cardstock and masked her. I stamped the other stamps with brown, pale green and darker green, sponged some green and brown and and dried well. I removed the mask and heat embossed the swirl with gold embossingpowder. I coloured the face a bit using some Distress ink Vintage photo and a water brush. I sponged the edges of the card with dark brown for some deapth.

Face On Challenge: Ancient Woman

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with a tag I made for this current "Face On" Challenge going on through the end of August here on the Portal.   I used the Ancient Woman #4 tag stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  There is a whole series of these ancient woman portrait stamps at Lost Coast, and I love all of them!

I stamped my Ancient Woman onto a piece of cardboard, then trimmed the top to a tag shape, including punching a hole for some ribbon or twine.  Next I took a piece of cream and black scrapbook paper and pleated it, then stitched across it with a zig zag stitch.  I edged it, and the tag, with some Vintage Photo Distress ink to age them both, and tied a piece of twine around the pleated paper.  I then glued this to the bottom of my tag.

I finished my tag off with some light brown and black seam binding ribbon through the hole in the top along with an aged bronze charm.

Please come join us for this fun challenge, featuring "face" stamps - you could win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

Let coffee choose

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Cathy here with a card for you today.
Stamps used:
I just started playing with some distress oxide sprays and a distress spray stain. I just knew I wanted to use the new distress mica stain. You can't see it in the photo but it is the gray in the background. I sprayed them directly onto the paper and then took another piece of paper and placed it on top so I get 2 for 1 with that.

Next I stamped Praying angel in black ink on it. After that I stamped Pieces of Calligraphy in gray ink around it.
Lastly I stamped Power of coffee saying on black ink and white heat embossed it. I cut it apart and added to the card. I felt the saying went perfectly with the image.

I hope you will join the fun challenge

Paint Your Own Reality

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Friday. It's Sue here with my second Face On project, and this time I've used a beautiful Frida Kahlo stamp to make a page in my Lost Coast journal.

This was such a simple project, but sometimes they're the nicest aren't they? I simply stamped Frida onto some watercolour paper, coloured her in, and cut her out.

The background is 6x4 (so it fits into my album) and I've stamped the sentiment directly onto it.

Here she is next to the Sugar Skull lady from last Sunday.

And this is how she looked when I paper pieced her in another journal a while ago.

This is the wonderful Frida stamp that I used.

I've really enjoyed this challenge, and I know you will too so please join in and link up for the chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.

Thanks so much for looking, take care, and have a very happy weekend x

Merry Mona

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here.  We are going Face On this fortnight and sharing our makes that feature a human face.  You can join the fun until 31st August 23.59 PST so grab your people stamps and share your makes.  Here's Mona, all ready for her Merry Christmas!

Using black archival ink I stamped Lost Coast Designs Santa Mona, masked her and stamped Lost Coast Designs Bubbles Background.  Inspired by a photo challenge at Christmas Kickstart I decided to leave lots of white and add some pops of colour.  I used red, green and yellow Promarkers to randomly colour clusters of bubbles and Mona's hat and dress.  Then I added glitter glue to the hat rim and pom pom.   To finish I stamped Lost Coast Designs Merry Christmas with green ink, edged the sentiment strip with green ink and added a couple of yellow enamel dots.

Grab you stamps and join the fun
Include a human face or two for a chance to win.

#128 challenge at Lost Coast designs, Face on.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, today this card for a challenge inspiration post.
The challenge this time is "Lets face it".

For this card I used a technique that I wrote a published article about years ago.
Squeeze fresh flowers on paper.
I love doing this technique, and make lots of prints so I have a lot of backgrounds.
All you need is some flowers, paper and a die cut machine.
You can also experiment yourself.
For example, you can spray some ink or paint, or sprinkle some mica powders on it.
You can probably come up with something yourself.
Here is the tutorial for this card.

You Need.....
Fresh cut flowers
Paper
Ink sprays
Paper towel
Die cut machine
Tweezers
Brush
Black and white paint.

I always press the flowers between 2 sheets of paper.

When you run the paper through the machine,
sometimes a lot of moisture comes out of the flowers.
It is wise to keep quite a few sheets of paper towel handy.
As soon as you see too much moisture coming out of the flowers,
you should quickly blot it with the paper towel.

In this photo I had sprayed some glimmermist over the flowers and paper.
Because you use 2 sheets of paper, you get a positive and negative print.
And that gives very nice effects.

Now you have to peel of the flowers with the tweezers and brush.
Do this very carefully.
The paper has become wet and very prone to tearing.
And look what beautiful prints you have now.
And now the stamping,
I stamped the "Girl with a Curl" directly onto the floral print with black stazon.
Then colored her hair, eyes and mouth with some distress ink in the right color.
Also made some shadow around the stamp.
Splatter with some white and black paint fine splatters over the background.
Add some accents with a white gel pen and you're done.

You can of course make all kinds of designs and combinations.
Experiment and you will be amazed at what is possible.
But most importantly, have fun creating.
And dont forget to enter the challenge.
Maybe you will be oure next winner.

Face On Challenge: Girl With A Curl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome to the latest challenge from Laurie!  From August 15th through the 30th we are featuring projects with a human face.  If you are like me, you have a lot of stamps with faces on them, so dig through your stash, and let's see what amazing projects you can come up with!

I used the Girl With A Curl stamp from Lost Coast Designs for this card.  I stamped this lovely lady using black ink onto a square piece of white card stock and colored her using Copic Sketch markers.  Next I cut a piece of a Gelli print featuring blue and green acrylic paints into a square-ish shape, larger than my stamped image.  Using a square die cut, I cut a square into the center of the print and attached my stamped image to the back side of the print so the face is showing through the square "hole" in the front of the card.  I edged the square with some gold foil stickers and layered this with another piece of white card stock.

I do hope you will join us for this latest challenge.  Don't forget to feature rubber stamping on your projects for a chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!!

Poe Neon

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps! Gail here with a bright and beautiful Artist Trading Card.

I started by cutting a red ATC base (3.5" x 2.5").  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Goth Shrine ATC on white card with Cactus Flower archival ink and coloured with Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron, Wild Mustard and Spiced Marmalade distress markers.  I fussy cut the shrine and added it and a tiny strip of white card edged with Cactus Flower ink to the ATC.  Then I did a bit of tricky masking and stamped Carmen's Veranda Nevermore Crow, minus his nevermore, on the shrine.  I used a white gel pen to make his coloured bits white.

Thanks for dropping by.  You still have a couple of days to link up your neon stamped makes for a chance to win.

Neon colors: Flying Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here again! Today I show you a journal page I made onto a neon colored gelli plate background. The neon paint I used was Talens Amsterdam. I stamped the Queen, the tree and text onto the background with black waterproof ink, like StazOn. I also stanped the queen onto a seperate piece of creme paper and cut her out (except of the candles), colored her with watercolor paint and glitter gel pens. I glued her ,on herself` onto the background and used white and yellow gel pens for the candles. Stamps used: (click=see) Flying Queen, Pieces of Calligraphy and Carmens Verandas Tree with birds.

There's still time to join the neon fun! Give it a try!
See you next time!

A Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Friday, the weekend starts now! It's Sue here with my journal page for our fun Neon challenge, so sunglasses at the ready!

This was going to be such a simple project, but then I went down the 'what if ' rabbit hole....

I started with some neon stars from a local pound shop. I just glued them to my journal page and punched the holes back in.

Then I decided that as my main image was to be the new Dirigible I wanted a steampunky background, so I stamped some more stars, and also stamped and die cut some hexagons.

I stamped and coloured my images many times but still couldn't seem to get them right, so in the end, I just coloured some card with highlighter pens.

Then stamped and embossed in black. Perfect, just what I wanted, and I could have saved myself a couple of hours if I'd done this to start with, but where's the fun in that!

Now I don't mean to brag, but I drew this cloud all by myself lol. The quote is from a song on the Carousel of Progress ride in Disney World. It's one of my very favourite rides, I used to love the sit down in the cool after running around the theme parks with the kids. Happy days!

These are the stamps that I've used. They are all from Lost Coast and are;

I hope that you like my journal page, and also that you join in with our fun challenge. Just show us your neon colours and your rubber (or clear) stamping for the chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.
Have a very happy weekend, and thanks so much for looking x
