Egg Harvest

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today.
I hope you are all feeling well and keeping yourself occuied during these strange times.
I know that many crafters have been grateful for the stash they have
and the challenges, events and sales that the internet has enabled.

Our current challenge is Winged Things.  I decided to use the lovely Harvest Angel from Lost Coast Designs and make an artist trading card.
I stamped Harvest Angel on white card with brown archival ink.  I left enough border so I could cut with an ATC die.  I coloured the angel with distress markers and Promarkers.  I left a bit of white around the image and coloured the rest with black Promarker as a frame.  I gave her silver glitter glue wings.  Her basket is filled with eggs.  I am out harvesting eggs every day and I am very grateful for the hens I have in my garden.

Flying Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a flying gnome.
Stamps Used:
Pointy hat gnome
Cherry blossom
Winged skeleton

So I started with the Pointy hat gnome stamp and color with Copic markers. Cut out.
Next stamp  Winged skeleton on a scrap piece of cardstock and color with Copic markers. I chose 3 light colors to color the wings. Cut out.
Tape the wings behind the Pointy hat gnome. I then added foam tape and set aside to make the background.

To make the background I used Distress sprays in purple, pink and blue. I sprayed the paper with water and then I sprayed the Distress sprays. I then took another paper and spritzed it  with water and laid it on top of the first one so I got 2 backgrounds from 1 (well 3 from all the over spray). Dry and then drip water on the background to make the spots.

Stamp Cherry blossom  to the top of the background. Move the stamp around to cover the top of it. Next add the your flying gnome to the front at a angle and then add sparkle to the wings and beard because your gnome is magickal and needs glitter.
So you can join the fun for this challenge here.

Also Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda is have a sale. Come check it out here.

Winged Things: Steampunk Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie again with a card for the "Winged Things" challenge going on right now here on the Lost Coast Portal.  For this I used the Steampunk Fly Girl stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

I stamped my Steampunk Angel onto a piece of a background paper I created using vintage ledger papers and book pages.  I used my Gelli Plate with green, yellow, and orange acrylic paints atop the vintage papers and stamped my image with black Stayz On ink.  I cut this into a rectangle and edged it with black ink.  I attached a "Discover" sticker to the left side and a couple of gears and number 33 thumbtack onto the lower right corner.

I took a  piece of green scrapbook paper and using a stencil and some Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, I stenciled the design around the edges of the paper.  I attached my stamped piece to the center and cut it our, edging it with black ink as a finishing touch.

There are so many wonderful "flying" images you can have fun creating with.  Let's see what you can make for this latest challenge.  Just be sure to use some rubber stamping somewhere on your project and to make sure you have some wings too!

Art Doll Shrine

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good Morning Friends...Ink Stained Roni here with another inspiring project for our current Challenge #95 Winged Things.

It's been a while since I played with Gothic Arches so I thought it would be just the ticket. LCD/CV has so many fun "Winged Things" it was hard to decide which one(s) to use.  I went with the Art Doll for the outside which I paired with the Ledger and Doodle Circles.

But that wasn't enough so I created this on the inside!

I started off by stamping all the fun images...parts from Victoriana, Doors & Windows, Jewel Shrine, Small Cityscape, the Long Swirl and  the Flying Moon.

I then added all sorts of VersaFine Clair inks directly on the Gothic Arch and some through a stencil.  The Flying Moon was stamped on a scrap of paper and colored then mounted on the GA with foam tape.

I used sentiment stickers from Prima and then inked all of the edges with VFC Nocturne ink.

I was so much fun to get inky with this piece...
I hope it has inspired you to join in on the fun.

Wings of an Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
it's Dot here popping by today as a Guest Designer for
Lost Coast Designs
for the Winged Things Challenge this fortnight.

This Winged Girl NS stamp was the first thing that came
to my mind for this challenge.
She has been stamped onto watercolour card and
coloured with pencils. This is such a relaxing thing for me to do.
She was then cut out and put aside.
The daisies were also stamped onto watercolour card and cut out.
They are from the ATC Doodle Set.
I've left these uncoloured for a little contrast.

The background was made by simply swiping watercolour card
through Distress Oxides on my craft sheet.
To layer the colours up you need to dry between layers.
I added some Mustard Seed Oxides
by stamping it with my acrylic block onto the background.
When you use Oxides on watercolour paper the colour is quite muted.
The yellow gives a lovely pop of colour and lifts the other colours.
There is a little stenciling in the background.
And stamping with Long Swirl.

To finish off the edges have been blended with a little ink.
The girl and daisies were attached.
And then it was mat and layered onto black card.

Thanks so much LCD for having back as a Guest Designer this fortnight.

A reminder that the challenge this fortnight is
Things With Wings.

You can enter on the blog here, or on our facebook page.
There are awesome prizes up for grabs.

I hope you check out what the team has made to inspire you
and that you are able to join in the fun.

Happy Stamping!

Wandering Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Roni back with another creation for
  Challenge #94 - Artist Trading Cards/Coins/Chunkies!

One thing I love about ATC's is that you can use up those smaller bits left over from other projects. The background is from a gift I made for my son and DIL that I just couldn't part with because it was just such cool looking paper. Well, it fit perfectly with the sentiment and I colored the gnome to match!

I started off by mounting the pattern paper to an ATC blank (really just an old playing card) to which I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I stamped the little Pointy Hat Gnome onto scrap paper using the same ink. He was then colored with Prima Watercolor Confections.  After he was all dry I fussy cut him and added him to the card using foam tape to pop him off the background a bit.

You've still got time to join in on the fun....

ATCs and Coins: Day 8: Sparkle Baby!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the current "ATCs and Coins" challenge going on here at the Portal.  You pick the theme and have fun making an ATC or an ATC coin - or both!
Just be sure that you have some rubber stamping on your project and your ATCs are to be 3 1/2" by
2 1/2"; coins are 2 1/2" in diameter.

I used one of the fun new Yoga Cat stamps for my ATC:  Yoga Cat #9 from Lost Coast Designs.  My sentiment is Keep Calm and Sparkle from Carmen's Veranda, and my background was created using the White Waves background stamp from Lost Coast.

I started by heat embossing my background stamp onto a piece of white card stock with white embossing powder.  When that had been heat set, I sponged shades of blue Distress Ink onto my card stock.  The result is that the background becomes blue but the white embossing stays white and creates a pretty effect.

I stamped both the Yoga Cat and my sentiment with black ink onto white paper and cut them out.  I edged the sentiment in black ink and affixed it to the upper left corner of my ATC.  I attached the cat to the lower right corner and only glued down the center portion, leaving the head and tail to sort of "float" above the paper.   The final step was to glue some tiny silver stars across the background to give my kitty some sparkle!

So please join us on this fun challenge and show us what fabulous ATCs and Coins you can create!
You could win some free stamps!

ATCs on Yupo

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with some ATCs for you
I used some Yupo paper and some Alcohol inks, blending solution, 91% isopropyl alcohol and embossing power.
Stamps I used:
Daisy Flourishes
Lily Flourishes
I started out with a strip of Yupo paper 2.5 inches wide. and 11 inches long. Then I grabbed some purple and blue alcohol inks. I had in my stash Tim Holtz marker spritzer and I thought to my self let's see if this works well with blowing the inks around like his new blower shows.(it does)
So I added some blending solution and then some inks and blew the inks around with the spritzer.
Added some 91% alcohol and moved the ink some more. When I was happy of how the inks were on the strip I cut them at 3.5 inches.

Then I took the Lily Flourishes and stamped it with Versa mark ink and heat embossed it with sliver and the other one I stamped Daisy Flourishes with gold embossing.

Yupo paper is plastic so it will bend and warp when you heat it so keep that heat gun moving.

Come join the fun here.

Fish Eye Eye Eye

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal peeps.
Gail here today with a bright fishy Artist Trading Card.
I love ATC's.  It's amazing how much art you can get on these small canvases.
I went arty and had fun with layers and lots of repeat stamping.
That was the last challenge! but why forget a good technique??

I started with a piece of neon yellow card cut to ATC size (2.5" x 3.5").  I stamped and embossed Lost Coast Designs Fruit Pod background with gold tinsel embossing powder.
I took the fish head stamp from Lost Coast Designs Up Close and Personal set and stamped it three times on two scraps of white card.  Then I used a very small die from YNS to perforate the edge and coloured with a black marker so they looked a bit like postage stamps.

I cut a piece of vellum with my ATC die and stamped Lost Coast Designs Freedom Dictionary word twice down each side.  I added it to the atc base and added the fish at an angle.  Whilst doing this I managed to get a inky finger on one of the fish panels so in the spirit of art I added a few more.  I used neon red, orange and yellow gel pens to colour the fish eyes.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to join the ATC fun and check out the awesome inspiration from the team.  It's awesome!!!!   Hugz
