#194 Fruit, Flowers and Foliage challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
Here is a tutorial for this slimline card.
I just love the pineapple stamp.
It's a whopping 6 inches/15 centimeters.
And so much fun to color.

What I used for this card.

Inktense pencils
Distress oxide,
Peacock Feathers.
Distress ink,
Wild Honey,
Iced Spruce,
Twisted Citron,
Peacock feathers.
Black waterproof inkpad.
Foamtape
Stencil with tropical leaves.
Yellow Posca marker.
Brayer.

Use the brayer to apply the four colours distressink,
Wild Honey,
Iced Spruce,
Twisted Citron,
Peacock feathers to the paper.

Take a stencil with tropical leaves and the Distress oxide Peacock feathers,
we stencil the bottom half of the paper.
And also the two top corners.

I also stenciled a line along the open areas with very small flowers.

While the leaves are drying we stamp the pineapple with black waterproof ink.
I colored the pineapple with Derwent inktense pencils,
but you can also use other pencils or markers.

On a strip of leftover paper, stamp the text.
Sponge some small flowers.
Distress the edges with Distress Oxide peacock feathers.

Finish with a black background.
With the yellow Posca marker you make a yellow dot in the little flowers.
Now you can stick all the parts on the background with foam tape.
And glue a black background underneath.

That's it for this time.
I hope you enjoyed it.
Did you also make something with fruit, flowers or/and foliage?
Then feel free to join our challenge.
Click on the link and voila, you're there.
You can join with all brands of stamps.
It doesn't necessarily have to be stamped with LCD or CV stamps.
Read the rules first, then you avoid disappointment.
Hope to see you there, until next time.

Red, White, and Blue, A Sketch and A Pineapple

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some Red, White and Blue inspiration.  It's not surprizing that so many flags use this combination of colours.  What a striking effect they make.  So grab your reds, whites and blues and your stamps and join the fun!!
I've used a sketch for the basis of my card layout and indulged in some tone on tone stamping.  Lost Coast Designs have so many lovely background stamps that can turn a flat piece of coloured card into a masterpiece.  I used Lost Coast Designs Fruitpods Background, stamped with dark blue ink on mid blue card base for the background.  I stamped Flagstone Background using red ink on red card and cut it with a pennant die.  The stamped Carmen's Veranda White Cat on white card, masked and randomly stamped Carmen's Veranda Pineapple using light blue ink all around the cat.  I didn't use a block, just inked the stamp and rolled it lightly around the cat, reinking between stamping.  I cut some scraps with a thin pennant die, stamped the sentiment and added some heart brads to finish.
I hope you like my card.  Thanks for dropping by.
Link up your stamped projects predominantly featuring the colours Red, White and Blue

#172 Summertime challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

If there's one thing that reminds me of summer, it's the tropics.
Tropical fruit, plants, flowers and colors, then I think of Hawaii.
Aloha summertime.

This time its a slimline card. with the beautiful pineapple stamp from Carmens Veranda stamps.
This stamp is no less than 6 inches (15cm) in size.
Love to color this big stamp.

I used for this card:

Distressink:
Twisted citron,
Rustic wilderness,
Spiced marmelade,
Peacock feathers,
festive berries,

Stazon Forest green.

A stencil with a leaf patern.
Flower die.
Branch die.
The word Aloha.
Washi tape.
White gellpen
Water based makers.

With a small finger sponge I did the leaves of the stencil on the inside with Twisted citron.

I did the outside of the leaves in the same way with Rustic wilderness.

This has a nice effect of overflowing green in the leaves.

On watercolor paper I stamped the pineapple with Stazon Forest green.
And colored it with water based markers.
Yellow, orange, green and with the green tones I also colored the leaves.

I colored pieces of paper with all colors of distress ink.
This is for the flower and the leaves.
I matched the colors to the washi tape.

With the sizzix machine I die cut the flower and twigs.
I did not used the dark green.
Wanted to keep it brigth.
Now give the pineapple some accents with the white gellpen.

Now assamble the card and enjoy the summer.

You can join the Summertime challenge till the 15th.
Its great fun to make something with a summer theme.
You even may use stamps of other brands,
aslong there is stamping on it.
See you at the challenge  or facebook.

Thank you Cathy Norton for this beautifull poster.

#145, Its a tropical party.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
Today its my turn to post with a tropical theme.
I made a card with the pineapple and the Carmen dog from Carmens Veranda.
The background is made with the crackle background stamp from LCD,
and the text is a sheet of party words from Lost Coast Designs.
I colored it with Van Gogh watercolors.
And stamped with stazon jet black.
I used Distressink Iced Spruce for the background.

I started stamping the dog.
I masked it, then stamped it with the pineapple.
I colored the pineapple and dog with watercolor paint.

But you can use anything you want, pencils or markers wil be fine to.

When that was dry I masked the dog and pineapple again.
And with the distressink and the crackle background i stamped the background.
I used a small piece of the stamp for this and filled the background.
I shaded with a bit of black watercolor,
and i glued some little juwells on her ears and dress.

On a small piece of paper I stamped the text with stazon jet black.
I marked the text with pink paint.
I also glued 2 small gems on it.
I increased the text with some 3d tape.
Glue the card with some pink and black cardstock and you're done.

Thanks for stopping by.
I would love to see your art in the challenge.
And maybe you are the lucky one to win a prize.
Please read the rules first.
Until next time, goodbey for now.
Untill next time.

More With Triple Love

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!!  The blog is looking very bright at the moment as we challenge you to use your stamps and Neon colours.  Neon's make me think tropical, and tropical makes me think PINEAPPLE!!!!
I've gone tall and thin and all Carmen's Veranda with the lovely Pineapple and More Hugs sentiment.  I started with a neon pink base card and chopped up some neon orange scraps into triangle shapes.  I arranged them in some sort of order on my card base and stamped the sentiment with black archival.  I masked it and bumped the stamp down a bit to stamp the more love again, mask, and repeat for triple love.  I did think about going crazy and stamping it down the whole length of the card, but my spacing was already a little wobbly by version three so I decided less truly is more.......   I stamped the pineapple on a scrap of neon green and a scrap of neon yellow, fussy cut, pieced em together and added it to my card.
Get out your stamps and your bold bright colours and join the NEON fun this fortnight for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars!

Pineapple Summer

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today with a hot and juicy summer make.  Gotta love some fresh pineapple when the summer temperatures are soaring.
I've made an Inchie Twinchie background using Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 2" and Carmen's Veranda's Pineapple
I stamped Carmen's Veranda's Pineapple, the fruit with Dandelion archival ink and the leaves with Library Green archival ink.  I coloured the fruit with Mustard Seed distress ink and the leaves with Mowed Lawn distress ink.  Then I restamped the fruit with Potting Soil archival cos the whole no line thing was just too bland and there is nothing worse than a bland pineapple!!
I wanted a hot background so I stamped Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 2" with red Carnation archival ink, coloured with Mustard Seed distress and chopped it into 1" and 2" squares.
I arranged my Inchies and Twinchie on a red base card in an ascetically pleasing manner.
Add the pineapple and it's Pina Colada time!!!
Join the Inchie Twinchie fun for a chance to win Lost Coast Dollars!!

Strangely Tropical

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today to hopefully inspire you to join our current challenge with some Off The Edge stamping.
I've used Carmen's Veranda Monkey Face.  He's usually quite off the edge so that made the challenge pretty easy.  I also added Carmen's Veranda Pineapple, for that truely tropical feel and lots of Lost Coast Designs Sketchy Rose stamp.
I stamped the monkey with brown archival and masked.  Then I stamped the pineapple, inking the fruit with yellow and the leaves with green archival ink.
I stamped the rose with pink archival ink, using 4 masks to allow me to fill up the background.
I used green gel pens for the monkey's eyes and used brush markers to add some scribbled colour to the flowers and pineapple.   I've also got a layered die cut in there, but I'm still trying to decide if I like it, so I'm not gonna say too much about it LOL.
Thanks for dropping by.  Join the Off The Edge fun for your chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Hugz

Pina Colada

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with a tag and some fun news!!

Doesn't Carmen's Veranda Pineapple make a fun shaped tag??!  I stamped it using Tangerine chalk ink, coloured with yellow and lime green Promarker and fussy cut it.  Then I stamped the leaves again on green card, fussy cut them and offset them slightly to give a lime green shadow.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda's Never Too Late sentiment and added some neon wool to make a fun birthday themed tag.   I thought this was perfect for our No Body Here challenge (No People) and it also fits the Allsorts Tag challenge which Lost Coast Designs is sponsoring for the next two weeks!!!  How awesome is that!!!

Allsorts Challenge

Hop over to the Allsorts blog for all the details, and there is also a discount code there that you can use at Lost Coast Designs!!  Really awesome!!
You also have another chance to win by joining our No Body Here Challenge with any stamped make, but no humans allowed!!

Duck A La'Orange

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  So nice of you to drop by.  Gail here today with a recipe for cuteness.

You said awww! didn't you?  I heard you!!!  Awwwwww, who can resist a cute and fluffy Duck.   And this was so simple!  Gotta love a quick make!!
I stamped the amazingly gorgeous Lost Coast Designs Shooting Star background using tangerine chalk ink on a yellow card base.  I edge the card base with the same chalk ink.  Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda Pineapple on the yellow card, embossed with black powder added some extra colour with distress ink and fussy cut.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Duck on yellow card using the tangerine ink and also added some extra ink to the beak and feet, and a little white gel pen on his eye.  I fussy cut Duck and added him and the pineapple to the card.
Probably could have used masking instead of all that fussy cutting, but I think this way there's less chance of a stamp error LOL.  Not sure what occasion I shall use this for, but I think it's a really fun card, and so bright and cheerful.
There is still time to join in our Orange and Yellow challenge for your chance to win up to $10 of rubber stamps from Lost Coast Designs and/or Carmen's Veranda.  Link up by midnight PST for your chance to win.
