Christmas Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today and there is still time to link up your stamped Winged Things to the challenge linky, or share on the fb fan group if you are using Lost Coast Designs and/or Carmen's Veranda stamps.  There are a nice lot of entries but still room for some more.
I like to make a few Christmas cards every month so I don't have a big stress later in the year and today I've used the beautiful Lost Coast Designs Christmas Angel with Halo.

I started by using a snowflake stencil and blue ink on a pale blue background.  Always love a bit of tone on tone.   Then I stamped Happy Christmas in blue ink using Lost Coast Designs Misc. Words.

I stamped the Angel using blue ink on white card and coloured with sharpies and distress inks.
Thanks for dropping by.   You have until the last minute of the month to add your project to the Winged Things linky.   Hope to see you there.

Wings challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, Cathy here with a card for you.
Stamps Used:

First, I took one stamp from Pieces of Architecture and stamped it with a teal distress ink. I then took a stamp from Pieces of Calligraphy and stamped it in gray ink. Then I sprayed water on it so it would spread the ink and blur the stamping. I then took some gray distress spray ink and sprayed it in the middle. Dried it with a heat gun. After it was dry, I then took a number stencil with some black ink and stenciled the two corners, and I edged the piece in black ink.

On another sheet of paper, I stamped the Flying moon and the Eye chart square. I cut out the eye and the wings from the moon. Next, I then colored them with Copic markers and glued them together.
After they were dry, I added them to the front of the panel. I then added it to a white card base.

You can join all the winged fun here.

# 159 "Winged things" challenge , i made a printers tray.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today my contribution to the LCD/CV challenge "Winged things".
I made this printers tray (20x30cm) for a stamp friend's birthday.
It contains quite a few stamps, but I especially like the butterflies.
Here's a list of what I used and a brief description.
Spike and Lucy. (only the girl)
Sentiment from Carmens Veranda,

Distressink
Broken China
Twisted citron
Fossilized amber
Rustic wildernis
Rusty hinge
Black waterproof ink.

For the frame, i used acrylic paint in the same colors.
For the spletters some white and brown paint.
Pencils for coloring.
White gellpen.
Nuvo aqaua shimmer for some glitter accents.
I first drew the frame on paper, so I knew exactly where the compartments were.
This makes it easier to determine where which stamp will be placed.
First I sanded the frame and painted it in various colors.
When that is drying I smeared the ink with water on the paper.
Then I stamped the stamps,
The big butterfly of the Bitterfly set I stamped each wing turned left and right.
And I glued the 3 small butterflies loose so that they have depth.
Then I stamped the background around the stamps.
Color the details with the pencils.
You can finish the it of with a white gel pen.
Don't forget to do some stamping on the edges of the frame as well.
Just splash the white and brown paint and you're done.
make a small Happy birthday tag and bind it to the foil giftrap.
I hope you enjoyed it and that you will soon get started for our challenge.
You can win new stamps, so come and participate.
The challenge runs until the end of this month.
Good luck.

Winged Things #159 - Sea Wings

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends...Roni here with a fun idea for the challenge #159 - Winged Things. My card today was inspired by one of the new mini collage stamps - Mini Maritime Collage. It's got such a great vintage feel to it that I just love.

So I started with the main image which I stamped it onto a page from a vintage book on stenography using a walnut stain ink. I gave it a light brushing with water to give it a bit more character.

The background was created by stamping an image from the fun new set Brush Strokes onto a light blue piece of cardstock with 4 different colors of VersaFine Clair ink. I started with the darkest ink on each end working my way towards the center.

The background panel was mounted onto a bright blue card blank which I then wrapped with a bit of sisal twine and added the main image once it had dried.

Hope this inspires you to join in on the fun....Winged Things

Winged things: Dragonfly ATCs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, this time I'd love to show you a very simple technique with a great effect in our Winged things challenge!

I made this three ATC cards using the big dragonfly from the wonderful insects stamp set More Bugz. I stamped it with Distress Oxide Black Soot onto white cardstock and sprayed it with water till the ink starts flowing. Magical! Of course you can also try it with other colours of Oxide ink! I let it dry well and added some words from Misc. Words and matted everything on black cardstock.
Hope to see you participating this nice challenge! See you next time!

The Race Is On!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some inspiration for the Winged Things challenge.  I didn't really have any particular idea in mind today, so I went through my Lost Coast Designs stamps and pulled out anything with wings.  Well, that was quite a pile!!  I whittled it down to a few contenders and decided to go for a sky scene......
I had so much fun making this!!!!
I started with pale blue card, put some salty ocean distress oxide ink on my craft mat, spritzed with water and and smooshed my card through it.  When it had dried I stamped Lost Coast Designs MRaven1 with black archival ink.
I masked the raven and stamped Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkey background, cos you can never have too many flying monkeys!!!   I used black archival for the monkeys and when I removed the raven mask I decided I wouldn't have enough contrast.  So I stamped both the raven and Lost Coast Designs Flying Pig 2 on white card, coloured with distress and Pro-markers and fussy cut them.
I mounted the panel on a black cardbase and then placed the raven and the pig so they just overlapped the panel both sides.  I positioned the raven slightly offset of the stamped image underneath so he gets a bit more wing and tail feathers.  I added glitter glue to the pig's wings but it's not so visible in the picture.
Join the Winged Things Challenge with your stamped anythings featuring things with wings.
Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project.
Thanks for dropping by.

Everything has been done with the watercolor except her hair.
I colored it with the inktense pencils.
I stamped the background with
The beautiful text "Art gives my soul wings to fly" is from Carmens Veranda.
These are the inks I used for stamping.
Versafine onyx black for the butterfly.
Archivel ink coffee.
Distressink Rusty hinge, Twisted citron and Evergreen bough.
I hope you will join the challenge, it is for everyone and it doesn't matter if you are beginner or advanced.
That's it for now, I wish you a nice day.

Winged Things: Butterfly Square

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

So glad you are here today as we start a brand new challenge:  Birds or Bugs or Winged Things.  So many choices - which will you choose?

This card features the Butterfly Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda and one of the butterfly stamps from the Butterfly Set over at Lost Coast Designs.  The background is a piece of decorative rice paper layered over a piece of vintage text and sealed with Modge Podge.  I stamped a couple of butterflies to the rice paper using black ink - this step was done before I sealed it.  I then edged the panel with gold ink.

The Butterfly Square was heat embossed onto white water color paper using gold embossing powder.  I then trimmed it into a neat square shape and edged it with gold ink.  I then took two different Tim Holtz Distress Spray Inks - one aqua and one green - sprayed them on my craft mat individually, added water to both, and painted the background with a paint brush, using the inks like water colors.
I mounted this to a black square and affixed it to the center of my background panel with foam tape.

If you are not familiar with the collection of square stamps at Carmen's Veranda, be sure to check them out.  There are so many in so many wonderful and creative designs, I'm sure you will find something to fall in love with!

Enter your creations on the Portal for a chance to win some free stamps.  And don't forget to feature rubber stamping in your projects.

Slimline Cards: Keep Calm and Sparkle!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie with another Slim Line card for the current challenge here on the Portal.  This one uses the following stamps from Lost Coast Designs:
one mannequin from the Mannequin Set
one butterfly from the Butterfly Set
the Daisy Flourish stamp
and
the Keep Calm clear stamp from Carmel's Veranda.

My background is a gel print made with green and blue Distress Oxide Inks and a circle stencil.  I cut this into the shape of a slimline card and edged it with green Distress Oxide Ink.  Using the same green ink, I spritzed this on my craft sheet and stamped the Flourish stamp into the ink then onto my gel print.

The mannequin was stamped with black ink onto white card stock and cut out.  I colored the corset with blue and green Copic Sketch markers.  I stamped the butterfly from the Butterfly Set onto white card stock, cut it out, and colored it with the same markers.  I cut it in half and attached it to the back as wings for the mannequin.  This was then glued to the card front and a green satin bow was added to the waist of the mannequin.

The sentiment was stamped with black into onto a white square edged with green ink and affixed below the mannequin.

We are looking forward to seeing the fun and artistic slim line cards you create for this challenge.  A lucky winner will receive some free stamps!!

One In A Million

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here.  I have been having fun with the Slimline challenge and also thinking ahead to Valentines day.  I actually started something completely different and then I spotted Lost Coast Designs Many Sheep and Carmen's Veranda Sheep Doll and a card was born.

I stamped Many Sheep on a panel of white card and trimmed it to fit my slimline base, making sure lover baa was in the picture.   I edged the panel with black ink and stamped Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Heart with red ink.  I stamped Sheep Doll with black ink on white card, added a little pink and silver, fussy cut and added her to the card.  A touch of grey promarker to ground her and we are ready for the month of love.

You have until 23.59 PST on the 14th January to join the challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Hope to see your lovely stamped slimline card in the gallery.

Just waiting

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, Cathy here with a slimline card for you.
Stamps used:

I started out with some distress ink colors. I used ink splat stamp from Brush strokes and inked it up. Then I sprayed it with water and stamped. It made it have a watercolor effect. Clean off the stamp and move it, pick a different color and repeat the process.
Next, I stamped the number border on the bottom of the panel and set it aside. I stamped the old lady with the Coffee and colored it with the same colors I used to stamp the background. Cut her out and placed her on top of the number border.
I layered the panel on black cardstock. I then stamped Saying and cut out and layered that on black and added that to the top of the card. I mounted on a white card base.

I hope you will join the challenge here.

Happy New Year From Everyone

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Happy New Year from Gail.  Again.
But you can never have too much happy can you.
I hope your 2023 is off to an awesome start.
For my project today I decided to look through my stamps and select a few favourites to use.   Turns out I have way too many favourites, but after some deliberation, and a bit of push and shove, I became happy with this.
For this card I used lots of stamps, lots of masks and blue and black archival ink.  We have Lost Coast Designs ZZ Top Gnome 2 and Carmen's Veranda Monkey with a Banjo supplying the music, direction and artistic appreciation by Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock Standing and Salvador Dali, entertainment by Carmen's Veranda Kukla and Ollie, Lost Coast Designs Doodle Doll is supplying an element of mystery and the celebratory fly-by is courtesy of Lost Coast Designs Flying Pig.  I used a couple of the stamps from Lost Coast Designs Pieces of Calligraphy to fill in the empty spaces.
Here are a few pictures of the 'unveiling'

Remember, if you are stamping and masking a scene you stamp the front elements first and work back.  Sometimes its helpful to roughly stamp all the images on a scrap piece of paper first so you can see how they go together.
I hope you get time to share our Slimline Challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.
Don't forget to stamp!!!
Thanks for dropping by.
