Rocking Duck

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today with a rockin' duck for the Rock or Pop Challenge.  We want you to include a pop up element or make a rocking card.  I love rocking cards.  These are actually really easy to make.  You can cut a circle, fold it in half and use that as your card base.  Or you can take a tent fold card base and use scissors or dies to cut the bottom edge into a curve.  Then decorate it as you like.  In this case I liked Carmen's Veranda's Duck.....
Isn't that duck just adorable!!!!
For this card I used some Studio Light journal dies to cut the bottom edge of my black card base into a curve.  Then I changed it to a yellow base!   More easter.....   I used the matching die to cut my green mat, and, just because the die was in this set, I decided to add semi-circular pocket to my project.   I stamped the green panel with green ink and two stamps from Lost Coast Designs Pieces of Calligraphy set.  I stamped the brown mat on the little pocket with brown ink and Lost Coast Designs Mini Butterfly Collage stamp.
I die cut a piece of the green card with a grass die and added a bit of promarker scribblings.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Duck on yellow card, coloured his beak and feet and fussy cut.  This card is going to New Zealand as part of the Card Chain Challenge international card exchange.  I was going to put a tea bag in the pocket, but I think they frown on such things, so I added some paper leaves instead.  Hopefully my exchange partner will be able to use them for something crafty.
And when the leaves are taken away you can see the Happy Everything sentiment which is from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set.

I hope you take some time to check out all the fun interactive Rock and Pop cards the team are sharing this month, and don't forget to join the fun for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

I made a little video for your enjoyment.  Hugz

Tweet This: Ducks In A Row

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie with a fun card for our newest challenge:  Tweet This.  Think all things bird related for this one.  This card uses the Doodle Circles background stamp and the Vertical Party Hats border stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  The duck stamp from the Duck and Bunny set and the clear stamp, Ducks In A Row, are both from Carmen's Veranda.
The background for this started with a piece of scrapbook paper.  Using the Doodle Circles stamp, I randomly stamped some pink and yellow Oxide Distress Inks onto the paper.  I also edged the paper with the yellow ink and used a darker shade of pink ink to "splatter" the paper as well.

The duck was stamped with black ink onto white card stock and colored with Copic Sketch markers, then fussy cut out.  The hat was stamped onto pink card stock, cut out, and affixed atop the duck's head.  I then attached the duck to the left side of the card front with foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment was stamped onto white card stock with black ink and layered with a piece of pink card stock.  This was then attached as shown to the right side of the card front.  Done and dusted!

Let's see what fun creations you can make for this newest "birdie" challenge!  Be sure to feature rubber stamping in your projects, and you just might win some free stamps from Carmen's Veranda and Lost Coast Designs!

Infinitely Weird

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today and it's Anything Goes!!!!
Anything??
I blame my anything on the particularly warm weather we are experiencing.
Summers in Norway are not usually this warm.
Ice creams and brain cells are melting away.
It's too warm for ducks and reindeer.
But reinducks are having a ball.
Stay Weird!!  Yes, indeed.  Maybe it should have been stay cool!!!!
OK, so I grabbed Carmen's Veranda Duck and Reindeer Doll, stamped, coloured, fussy cut.  Cut a bit more.  Lost and found a head, some arms and legs, glued and declared it a thing.
I stamped Fourth Dimension using Bluebird archival ink and cut a panel of blue card with a stitch rectangle die and Sizzix Splat die.
I put Fourth Dimension behind the splat panel, added my Reinduck, stamped Carmen's Veranda Stay Weird words and mounted it all on a dark blue base.

Lemon, Lime and Black Challenge: Just Duckie

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another card for the Lemon, Lime and Black Challenge going on right now here on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity,

For this card, I used the duck from the Duck and Bunny stamp set and the Hokey Pokey clear stamp, both from Carmen's Veranda and the Medium Shrubbery background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

My background paper is a page from vintage book that I printed directly onto with my Gelli plate and some lime green and a bit of yellow acrylic paint.   I stamped my background onto this with black StazOn ink and edged it with black.  I stamped my duckie onto yellow paper with black ink and cut him out.  I colored over his beak and feet with orange marker and gave him a google eye.  I cut out my duckie and attached him to my card front as shown.
The crown he is wearing is from the Vertical Hats Border stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  I stamped it with black ink onto white paper, cut it out, colored it alternately with green and yellow markers, and attached it to the duck's head.

I stamped my sentiment with black ink onto white paper and used an oval punch to cut it out, then edged it with black marker.

Final step was to layer my front with a white panel and it's good to go!
We can't wait to see your lemon, lime and black creations, so be sure to get them posted onto the blog by the 14th of the month for a chance to win some free stamps!!

Artist Trading Coins

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with some Artist Trading Coins
I started out using a 21/2 inch die because I do not have a punch that size. I must say I like the die because I can see where I want to cut. I started out making the middle of the ATCoin. I wanted them to me sturdy so I cut some 100lb weight cardstock and glued 2 of them together. You can use cardstock you really don't care for anymore because you will be covering it up with a top and bottom piece.
This one I have used Alcohol ink and just run my paper through it on a craft sheet. Next I stamped the doodles circles on it. On scrap white paper stamp the duck and color with Copic markers. Cut out. Add bunny ears on top of duck. Then glue duck to ATCoin and add saying. Edge with black ink and glue to middle.
This one I also started with Alcohol inks. I then stamped Adrien on the ATCoin. I made a mask and then I stamped doodle circle for the background. Add saying and edge in black and glue to the middle.
This one I started with distress ink for the start of the ATCoin.  Stamp the doddle circle for the background. Then stamp Happy Cat on ATCoin. On scrap white cardstock stamp Happy Cat and color with Copic markers. Cut out and add to ATCoin. Edge with black ink and add it to the middle.

For the backs of all the ATCoins I used pattern paper that matched the colors on the front.

Duck Shit

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Gail here today.  The new challenge here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is Tweet This!!   We want to see birds on your projects.   Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have lots and lots of amazing bird themed stamps and the team will be showcasing these the next couple of weeks.  Carmen's Veranda's Duck insisted on making another outing!!
He's just so adorable!!  Here he is showing his rebellious side!

I stamped Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 3" using Wilted Violet distress ink on grey card and cut it with Sizzix Deckle Edge die.  This gave a nice subtle look, but you can still see the details.
I stamped Duck on yellow card using Potting Soil archival and fussy cut and adjusted his wings so he looks a bit more animated.  I stamped the Carmen's Veranda Giveashitometer sentiment and embossed with black ink.  Actually, knowing ducks, I am not sure this sentiment is quite correct, cos ducks shit a lot!!  But there you go!!  Artistic license.  Oh, and despite my usually dislike of punctuation on sentiments I actually felt this one needed a few more full stops, so I used an embossing pen and some more powder to make it a bit more open ended.  I mounted it on a yellow card base that I stamped with Carmen's Veranda Dice Background and the brown archival ink.
Thanks for dropping by.  Link up your Birdie makes for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars and don't forget to drop back often to see more amazing inspiration from the team.

Duck A La'Orange

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  So nice of you to drop by.  Gail here today with a recipe for cuteness.

You said awww! didn't you?  I heard you!!!  Awwwwww, who can resist a cute and fluffy Duck.   And this was so simple!  Gotta love a quick make!!
I stamped the amazingly gorgeous Lost Coast Designs Shooting Star background using tangerine chalk ink on a yellow card base.  I edge the card base with the same chalk ink.  Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda Pineapple on the yellow card, embossed with black powder added some extra colour with distress ink and fussy cut.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Duck on yellow card using the tangerine ink and also added some extra ink to the beak and feet, and a little white gel pen on his eye.  I fussy cut Duck and added him and the pineapple to the card.
Probably could have used masking instead of all that fussy cutting, but I think this way there's less chance of a stamp error LOL.  Not sure what occasion I shall use this for, but I think it's a really fun card, and so bright and cheerful.
There is still time to join in our Orange and Yellow challenge for your chance to win up to $10 of rubber stamps from Lost Coast Designs and/or Carmen's Veranda.  Link up by midnight PST for your chance to win.
