Challenge 200 - Cats and Dogs!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here today to share a card created for the August Cats and Dogs Challenge 200 with the Poky Cat and Fat Cat Rubber Stamps by Lost Coast Designs.

The Poky Cat and Fat Cat Rubber Stamps were stamped twice with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto white cardstock and onto repositionable sticker paper.

The sticker paper versions were fussy-cut and adhered onto their counterparts on the image panel to mask them.  A piece of repositionable scotch tape was placed horizontally across the image panel, covering their paws and the bottom of the panel.

Blue dye ink was brushed over the masked images. The image panel was then cut with a die.

The masks and the tape were lifted and the images were colored with Copic markers. The area around and below Poky Cat and Fat Cat's paws was also colored with Copic markers.

The same blue dye ink was used to edge the top part of the image panel and a Copic marker was used to edge the bottom part of the image panel.

Orange patterned paper was die-cut with both a decorative rectangle die and sentiment label die. The rectangle die was used to mat the image panel. A sticker sentiment was adhered to the sentiment label die.

Patterned papers were layered as shown and trimmed to 5.75" square to create the background panel.  The matted image panel and the sentiment were adhered the background panel, then to an orange 6" card. Black rhinestones were added to finish the card.

You still have a few days to enter this month's Cats and Dogs Challenge for a chance to win Lo$t Coa$t Ca$h!

Cats and Dogs Challenge 200!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here today to share my first project for our August Cats and Dogs Challenge #200! As a crazy cat lady, I collect cat stamps (and stencils and cutting dies and stickers ...). The The Happy Cat Rubber Stamp by Lost Coast Designs is one of my favorites because this cat's expression just fills me with joy and makes me smile!

I stamped the The Happy Cat Rubber Stamp with Tuxedo Memento ink, fussy-cut it, colored it with blue grey Shinhan Touch Alcohol markers, and then edged it with a black marker.

I grabbed a piece of patterned paper that worked with the beatific zen-like Happy Cat and used pink dye ink to stencil a pawsome heart in the center of it.

The patterned paper was trimmed to 5 ¾" square and edged with a black marker,

"meow" washi tape was added to the lower right side of the stenciled patterned paper. Two ⅛" pieces of black and white striped washi tape were added above and below the "meows".

Black cardstock was cut with a "smile" cutting die, which was adhered to the upper left corner of the patterned paper card front as shown.

Adhere the patterned paper card front to a 6" square black card.

The fussy-cut cat was adhered as shown to finish the card.

If you love cats and/or dogs, you really ought to play along with this challenge for a chance to win Lo$t Coa$t Ca$h! I sure I hope to see your artwork!

Christmas In July Challenge 199

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a Christmas card created for the Christmas in July Challenge 199 with Megan's Christmas Bird Rubber Stamp by Lost Coast Designs

Use Memento ink to stamp Megan's Christmas Bird Rubber Stamp by Lost Coast Designs onto the center of a white cardstock panel.

Color the bird, branch, and Christmas lights with Copic markers. Use a fine-line green pen to color the light's wire. Add white highlights to the bulbs with a white gel pen and glittery highlights to the centers of the snowflakes with a clear glitter gel pen.

Position a square cutting die onto the image panel and secure with low-tack tape. Run the die/cardstock combination through your die-cut machine to cut the image panel. Keep the image panel square die-cut in the die by flipping the cardstock/die combination over and adding low-tack tape to cover the back of the die and connect the outside and inside of the image panel.

Flip the image panel/die-cut combo back over so that the image and die are facing upwards. Brush pearlescent blue ink over the die onto the image panel, going heavily around the edges. This will leave a white edge around the square.

Apply sparkly glitter glue onto the edges of the square and set aside to dry, preferably overnight so that you aren't tempted to touch the glue and make a mess.

Cut a 5¾" square of blue snowflake patterned paper, edge with a black marker, adhere the image panel die-cut, and apply the "Merry Christmas" rub-on as shown. Adhere the card front to a 6" square black card.

You still have a tiny bit of time to join Challenge 199 for a chance to win Lo$t Coa$t Ca$h!

Challenge 199 - Christmas in July

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! It's Kathi here with a Christmas card for the Christmas in July challenge 199. The card was created with one of the Santa Gnomes from the Mini Gnomes 2 Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Designs.

Santa Gnome with Gift Sack was stamped with Memento ink, fussy-cut, and edged with a black marker.

I was debating whether to place him in front of a house or on top of a chimney. Obviously the chimney scenario won. Then the scene took on a life of its own. I traced a chipboard house onto white cardstock, fussy-cut the house, colored it with dye inks, then detailed the bricks and siding on the house.

The windows and door were die-cut from white cardstock. The window frames were left white, but the panes were colored with Copic markers and inlaid. The door and panels were colored with Copic markers, inlaid, then matted onto white cardstock to become a frame.

White cardstock was die-cut with some corner border dies, detailed with a clear glitter gel pen and layered in back and in front of the house on a white speckled navy cardstock panel. Two shades of green cardstock were cut with a fir tree cutting die and added to the scene.

The "naughty or nice?" sentiment and the snowflakes are from an ancient QuicKutz Rub-on set (circa 2005). The sentiment was added to a white speech bubble die-cut. The snowflakes were added to the scene. Apparently I decided that more was more.

I adhered the card front to a red 5" x 7" card and called it done.

You should definitely join the Christmas in July Challenge 199 for a chance to win Lo$t Coa$t Ca$h!

June Color Challenge 198 — A Turquoise and Terracotta Snarky Card!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here today to share a card created for June's Color Challenge 198 with the turquoise/terracotta color scheme and a bit of snark, courtesy of the Giveashitometer Sentiment Clear Stamp by Carmen's Veranda.

Here it is!

When I saw the Giveashitometer Sentiment Clear Stamp, I immediately thought that the Voltage Bigz Die would be perfect with it, so my first step was to cut and assemble the shitometer with terracotta and turquoise patterned papers, small alphabet cutting dies, and small rub-ons.

I stamped the Giveashitometer Sentiment Clear Stamp with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with black detail embossing powder.

I did some more paper layering and called it done! Every now and then it's fun to do a quick and easy card, especially when that card has a touch of snark to make one giggle.

You still have a bit more than a week to participate in this month's challenge for the chance to win some Lost Coast Ca$h!

June Color Combo Challenge #198

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a card created for June's Color Combo Challenge 198. There are two options for this challenge. You can use Lime, Lemon, and Black or Terracotta, Turquoise and Black.

I opted to use the Lime, Lemon, and Black combination and the Carmen Elaine Rubber Stamp by Carmen's Veranda.

Here's my card!

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp Carmen Elaine twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and set her aside.

Color Carmen Elaine with Copic markers. Adhere the fussy-cut sticker version atop her counterpart on the image panel as a mask.

Position a long rectangle die over the image panel and secure it low-tack tape. Run the die through your machine and carefully slide the die and the cardstock combination onto your surface, add more low-tack tape to secure the die in place, and flip the combo. Add low-tack tape to secure the die-cut to the back of the cardstock panel.

Flip the combination to the front side. Adhere repositionable Scotch Tape over the base of the die-cut combination. Sponge or brush Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the die onto the image panel die-cut. Place a circle/rays stencil over the top of the image panel die-cut, secure with magnets, and brush the same yellow Distress ink over the stencil onto the die-cut panel to add rays over and around Carmen Elaine's head.

Remove the repositionable Scotch Tape and brush or sponge Twisted Citron Distress ink over the bottom of Carmen Elaine's dress and the panel to ground her.

Remove the die-cut image panel from the die. Run a line of Diamond Stickles onto the white border of the die-cut. Set the die-cut aside and let the Stickles dry.

While the Stickles is drying, cut a piece of the music patterned paper to 4" x 5.5" to create the background. Brush or sponge Verdant VersaFine Clair over the panel to change the color of the musical notation. Cut a strip of ticket patterned paper the width of the ticket by 5.5". Brush or sponge Verdant VersaFine Clair over the ticket strip to change the color and to edge the strip. Heat set both pieces of patterned paper. Adhere the ticket strip to the left side of the music notation paper. Trim the panel to 5.25" and edge it with Verdant VersaFine Clair Ink.

Adhere the background panel to a black A2 card. Adhere the Carmen Elaine image panel die-cut to finish the card.

I hope that you play along with June's Color Combo Challenge 198 for a chance to win Lost Cost Ca$h!

Are You Kidding Me? Bat Boy and Friends

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings!  You've got Kathi here today on the last day of May to share a card created for the May's Are You Kidding Me? Challenge 197. I've used "Bat Boy" (my name for him) from the new Cartoon Kids Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Designs.

Here it is!

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp Bat Boy onto white cardstock. Fussy-cut him, color him with Copic markers, then edge him with a black marker. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to his eyes. Set him aside.

Use bright blue, darker blue, and dark grey inks to stencil clouds onto a 3.25" x 4.75" panel of white cardstock to create a cloudy night sky.

Sponge black ink over a bat stencil to add three sets of bats to the sky. They're Bat Boy's friends.

Sponge black ink over a dot patterned stencil to add flight trails to the sky. Go over the black dots with a black glitter pen to make his trail sparkly.

Adhere Bat Boy as shown.

Edge the background panel with black ink and adhere to a 3.5" x 5" black card. Adhere a sentiment sticker to finish the card.

You still have a bit of time to join our May's Are You Kidding Me? Challenge 197 for a chance to win Lost Coast Ca$h!

Are You Kidding Me?

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here sharing my second card created for May's Are You Kidding Me? Challenge 197. I've used "Angel Girl" (my name for her) from the new Cartoon Kids Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Designs and the Medium Keyhole Rubber Stamp by Carmen's Veranda.

Here it is!

Use a stamping platform and Memento Ink to stamp the Medium Keyhole twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version so that you have a piece that will cover the area around the outline of the keyhole and cut it again along the outside border of around the keyhole. You should end up with three masks, one for the area around the keyhole, one for the outline of the keyhole, and one for the keyhole itself.

Position the Angel Girl stamp from the  Cartoon Kids Rubber Stamp Set facedown in the aperture of the keyhole, then use Memento Ink to stamp it twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of Angel Girl and place it atop its counterpart on the image panel.

Place the keyhole mask and the keyhole outline mask over their counterparts and sponge metallic gold and metallic black/gold inks over the masks to create the brass door plate/escutcheon. Thoroughly heat set the ink.

Cover the area just inked with the repositionable sticker paper mask. It will butt up against the outline mask.

Remove the mask from the keyhole, but keep the mask over Angel Girl. Brush light purple, light pink and light blue dye inks over a cloud mask to create a cloudy sky in the aperture of the keyhole.

Remove the mask from Angel Girl and from the outline of the keyhole. Color the keyhole and Angel Girl with Copic markers. Use a clear glitter pen to add glitter to her wings and trails under her feet. Use a gold glitter pen to add gold glitter to her halo, her wings, and the trails under her feet. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to her eyes.

Remove the mask from the outside of the keyhole. Trim the image panel/keyhole plate and edge with a grey marker. Use a black chalk pencil to add a slight shadow around the outline of the keyhole. Trim a piece of gold metallic cardstock so that it's slightly larger than the image panel and use it to mat the image panel. Add gold circles to the four corners of the doorplate/escutcheon.

Use a wood-patterned embossing folder to emboss grey/blue cardstock. Place the embossed cardstock between copy paper and run it through the die-cut machine to flatten it. Brush gold metallic ink lightly over the embossed cardstock to hit the hight spots.

Trim the panel to 5" x 7" and adhere to a 5" x 7" grey/blue card.  Edge with the gold metallic ink, then heat set the card thoroughly.

Sponge the same blue and pink dye inks used previously onto a sentiment sticker. Adhere the sentiment sticker to the card front, then adhere the image panel to finish the card.

Where's My Hat? Challenge 196 - A Snarky Anniversary Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there!  You've got Kathi here to share another project for April's Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's Challenge 196 "Where's My Hat?"

Here's my snarky anniversary card created with two of the penguins from the Penguin Anthropomorphs Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Designs.

Both stamps were stamped onto white cardstock and onto repositionable sticker paper. The images were colored with Copic markers. White gel pen was used to emphacize the penguins' eyes, then a black fine point multiliner was used to add pupils. Gold and red Stardust Glitter pens were used to add some glitter to his crown, his sceptre, and her hat dangles.

The sticker paper versions of both images were fussy-cut and placed over their counterparts. Repositionable Scotch Tape was placed horizontally across the bottom part of the image panel. Lost Shadow Distress Ink was sponged over the tape and the masked images to add color to the background, then sponged again over a stencil to add pattern and visual interest to the background.

The repositionable Scotch Tape was moved so that it sat on the horizon line, covering the bottom of the top of the image panel. Tan dye ink was sponged over the tape and the masked images to add a floor.

The tape and masks were removed, the image panel was trimmed, edged with a black marker, then adhered to a piece of black cardstock.

Red heart-patterned paper was trimmed to 6.75" x 4.75", edged with a black marker, and adhered to a 5" x 7" black card.

A snarky sticker was edged with a black marker and matted onto a strip of gold cardstock. Gold cardstock was cut four times with a corner die.

The image panel, matted sticker, and corners were adhered to complete the card.

You still have time to enter the April's Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's Challenge 196 "Where's My Hat?"  I hope to see you there!

Where's My Hat Challenge #196 - Unsupervised Dunce Hat Cat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a card created for the April Where's My Hat Challenge #196 with the Fluffy Cat Rubber Stamp from the Party Cat Rubber Stamp Set

Here's the card!

I have a pair of mischievious white cats, Domino and the aptly named Harley Quinn. They're littermates, who don't really get along, but occasionally conspire to create enough chaos that I really would like to put dunce caps on them, but I like my hands attached to my arms.

Anyway, the Fluffy Cat was stamped twice with Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. The image panel was heat set. The Fluffy Cat on the image panel was colored with Copic markers to make him look like Domino.

The repositionable sticker paper version of the Fluffy Cat was fussy-cut and placed over his counterpart on the image panel.

They took a ride through my Big Shot inside of a rectangle cutting die to be die-cut, then were kept inside the cutting die by securing the die to the back of the panel with low-tack tape. I brushed yellow and two grey dye inks over the die onto the image panel die-cut with the masked images to leave a nice white border around the inked image panel.

The image panel die-cut was removed from the die-cut and set aside.

Patterned paper was cut, edged with grey ink, and layered, then adhered to a white A6 card. The image panel die-cut was adhered as shown. A sentiment sticker was added to complete the card.

I really hope that you get a chance to play along with the April Where's My Hat Challenge #196 for the chance to with Lost Coast Designs Ca$h!
