You Gotta Larf!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday. It's Sue here with my  Twist & Pop card for our Sentiments In Focus challenge.

Yep, there's plenty of words there, and there's even more when you open it up!

No, I've not counted, but there are definitely more than 5!

I started by making my base twist & pop card.

Then I stamped my funny sentiments.

Some were nice and easy 'cos they fitted onto the card just as they were....

But of course, most had to be stamped, then cut up and made to fit.

It does actually stand up by itself, so it's great as a card in its own right, or you could also use as a topper. I'm obviously not a member of the Ass family as neither Fat or Short are mentioned.

These are the stamps that I've used, and they are all Carmen's Veranda clear stamps. You really need to go across and read them all, they are great for a giggle.

I hope you've joined in with our challenge, if not, you've still got a few hours left to enter, unless you're reading this tomorrow in which case you're too late! Luckily it's a new month tomorrow so a new challenge will be here. It's also October so I wonder what it could be bwahahahaha!

Have a very happy day whatever you are doing, and thanks so much for looking x

If you see me smiling

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all Cathy here with a card for you today.

Stamps Used:

This was a fun card to do and it's really simple. I used a blue Distress Oxide ink. (the smear better). Also if your stamping isn't perfect even better.
I started with the Pieces of Calligraphy  circle stamp and I stamped it with the oxide ink and then I took a blender and blended it over the stamp (basically smearing the ink). I did that 3 times around the card. I repeated that same step for the whole background with all the different stamps.
When I needed more ink instead of going to the inkpad I just took it off the stamp.

I then stamped I am smiling saying on white cardstock and added to the middle of the card.

I hope you will join the challenge here.

I cut out the girl from the white piece and sponged her softly with Distress ink Vintage Photo and glued her onto the couloured card. On a seperate piece of white paper I stamped the sentiment ,Not all who wander are lost'(Travel quotes) and cut it out. I sticked it on the card, and added the card on pink, white and black cardstock.  There's still a few days left to join the fun and win prizes! Hope to see you!

Sentiment in Focus: Housewife

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie to let you know that you still have almost a week to enter you projects in this latest challenge here on the Portal:  Sentiment in Focus.  For this challenge you willl be using a saying or sentiment that has at least five words.  Be sure to feature rubber stamping in all your projects too!

For this one I used the Housewife stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the Fairy Godmother clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

My background was made using  a stencil and some pink Distress Oxide Ink on a scrap paper that I had spritzed with a bit of green Distress Spray.  I stamped my housewife onto white card stock and fussy cut her out.  Next I restamped her, first onto some pink scrapbook paper then onto some flowered scrapbook paper.  From the pink paper I cut our her dress, and from the flowered paper I cut out her apron.  I superimposed these onto my original stamped image and glued them in place.  I added some color to her with my Copic Sketch markers and added some fancy pearls to her fuzzy slippers!

My sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a white square that I had edged in black.  I glued this to the upper left corner of my front as shown, then added my housewife below that.  And that's a wrap!

You have until September 29th to enter your projects for a chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda.  What are you waiting for!!

#130 Sentiments in focus.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there Riet here,
Today a card that is about the sentiment.
So I kept the environment of the text calm.
I used the Florish (large) with gold embossing powder.
A nice stamp that you can use in so many ways.
And of course my favorite sentiment from Carmen's Veranda, Child of the moon.
I started by applying 2 colors of ink to the background by running the card through ink with water.
Stamp the florish with versamark and sprinkle the print with the gold embossing powder.
Heat the embossing powder with the heat tool.
Colored the florish with pink and green watercolor paint and stamped the sentiment with a dark pink.
I hope you join our challenge, would be so much fun!
And you have a chance to win stamps.
Until next time and have fun stamping.

Give me Hugs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here again.  I am just having a blast keeping the Sentiment in Focus this fortnight.  You know Carmen's Veranda has the best sentiments, and it doesn't take much to make a quick card to send love, hugs and a laugh.   I've used my easy formula of Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda background, image of your choice and Carmen's Veranda sentiment.
I used Carmen's Veranda Dice Background stamped with Shabby Shutters distress ink on a yellow card base.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Tabby Cat on some DCWV cloud patterned paper and finished with Carmen's Veranda $8 Million sentiment.

I hope you get time to join the Sentiment in Focus challenge
You need to include at least 5 words on your stamped anything for a chance to win.

Free Bad Advice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some Free Bad Advice.
Ask me anything!  Bwahahhaaahhaaaa.

I've used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background and Carmen's Veranda Bad Advice sentiment.

I inked the edges of the Leaves stamp with Monarch Orange and Carnation archival ink, leaving a space in the middle uninked.  Then I reinked the whole stamp with Dandelion archival and restamped to fill in all the gaps.  A stamp positioner is kinda a must for this technique.

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum with black archival ink and when it was dry I added a little glue behind the big letters and positioned it on my card.  Then I punched some holes and added some copper leaf brads.

You need to include at least 5 words on your stamped anything for a chance to win.
Thanks for visiting.  Hugz

Sentiment in Focus: Baptizing A Cat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome from Laurie for this new challenge going on the last half of September:  Sentiment in Focus.  For this challenge, we want you to create a project/s using a sentiment of at least 5 words.  Be sure that rubber stamping is the main focus of your work. too!

For this one, I used one of the cat stamps from the Party Cat Hats Set from Lost Coast Designs and the Baptize A Cat clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda big collection of great sayings.  For this background I used a gelli print created on a piece of decorative tissue paper that I had adhered to a piece of card stock.

I stamped my cat with black ink onto white card stock and fussy cut him out.  I colored him with gray Copic Sketch Markers and added a touch of green to his eyes.  I traced around the hat that the stamped cat is wearing and using that template, cut out another hat from flowered paper, affixing it to the cat's head atop the original hat.  I added a little flower for some extra color and affixed the cat with foam tape to the left side of my card front.

My sentiment is stamped onto off white paper with black ink.  After cutting it into a square shape, I edged it with black ink and attached it to the upper right corner.  Final step was to outline the card front with black ink to give it some definition.

Please  come join us for this fun new challenge using you favorite phrase or sentiment stamps.  You just might be the lucky winner of some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

Movie Nite

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good Morning Cathy here with snacks for the movie nite.
Stamps Used:

I started out with a Kraft fry box. I used distress oxide sprays on it to color the whole thing. I dried it with a heat tool so I could move on to the next part.
I took some texture paste and mixed some black gesso into it. Grab your favorite stencil and put the paste through. I did it on the front and back. Set aside to dry.

I then worked on coloring the images I was going to use to decorate the box. I stamped out all the ones I wanted and then I used my scan-n-cut to cut them all out.
Next I colored them all with copic markers and decided where I wanted them.
I put Sherlock on the front. I then used a computer printed saying for movie nite.
I used glue and tape to hold them down over the texture paste.
For the back I stuck Alfred Hitchcock and Oz witch I also have some texture paste on the back.

I stuck some candy and a package of microwave popcorn in the fry box.
I hope you like my take on Movie Mania.

Charlie's Circus

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some Movie Mania inspiration!
I've combined Carmen's Veranda Charlie Chaplin and a circus themed embossing folder to revisit his movie 'The Circus'
I embossed a bronze card slimline panel with the circus themed embossing folder and sanded to expose the black core.  I stamped Charlie on some grey card with brown ink and fussy cut him.  I straight cut his hat to give a fez look, to match the middle monkey, and added a red tassel.  Then I added the  Not My Monkeys sentiment which totally covered up my fez conversion!!!

Join the Movie Mania fun for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars!!!!!

#129 Movie Mania challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello everyone, Riet here.

Today a card for the super fun Movie Mania challenge.
What a fun topic for a challenge.
I really like the old show movies and they are rarely shown on TV here in the Netherlands.
LCD has a stamp, "Showgirls" which always reminds me of those old movies.
I stamped this stamp 3 times and using paper masks.

After masking I sponged the background with Distress oxide Musterd seed.

Then I went over it with a stencil and distress oxide Spiced marmalade.

After removing the masks I colored the showgirls in with water based markers,

Tombow or Zig is fine.
I die-cut the stars and text from black glitter paper.

And that was it, a wonderful piece of nostalgia from the old days.
Have lots of fun creating your Movie Mania art and join oure challenge here
