Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello there, Liesbeth here with our brand new challenge: Anything Goes! Read everything about it HERE , participate and have fun!

I made this two ATC-cards, the backgrounds are nice and simple: I used 5 or 6 light colours of Distress ink and I stamped the  small overlapping squares by using a small (3x3 cm) acrylic block. I let it dry well and stamped the angel and the madaillon with black StazOn ink and masked them, and stamped the crackles, flowers and text. I removed the masks and bleached here and there with a synthethic brush and some bleach. I finished the Atc's by shadowing the edges and the focal points with charcoal and glued them on black card.

31 Days of Halloween Day 25: A Bosch creature

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, Liesbeth here again
on the 25th Halloween day already! But we still have a few days to go.Today I show you a glossy ATC card (Artist Trading Card). I love this creature so much! The image for this wonderful Lost Coast Designs stamp was taken from one of the paintings by de Dutch artist Jheronimus Bosch (1450-1516). His imagination was endless... I love his art so much! And the stamps are perfect for the Halloween theme I think!

I stamped the creature onto a card, masked it and stamped the text and the window. I created some shadow here and there by using a q-tip and some black distress ink. An easy one this time!
Stamps used: Isle of Aud Creatures, ATC text Set 1,   Door and window set. (klick=see)

We would love to invite you to join our 31 Days of Halloween challenge and to participate! See you soon!

31 Days of Halloween Day 4 : Evil Eye

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here! The best time of the year has started, autumn... and 31 days of Halloween here on our Blog! I love everything Halloween, and I love stamping in Halloween/Day of the dead theme! I think LCD/CV stamps are the very best for this.
I made this card a while ago, but I think it's perfect as my first Halloween entry this month.

I made a background using Distress inks, paint and a spiderweb stencil. I stamped the Evil Eye stamp and masked it. After that I stamped the text, houses and flourish. I removed the masking paper and bleached the buildings and the creepy animal. Here and there I used some coulor pencils to finish the piece.
Stamps used: Evil Eye, Cityscape,  ATC texts set 1 and Daisy Flourish (click=see)
Happy Halloween! Enjoy our 31 days :-)

Wood Challenge: *Magic*

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here!
There's still time for you to join our Wood Challenge till August 31st!
I hope to inspire you with this card. I made the wood grained background by wiping (direct to paper) my Distress Ink pad Vintage photo onto strips of paper of different widths). I sponged the edges of the strips, again with Vintage Photo and glued then on a card.  I stamped Large tree crown and ATC tekst set 1 also on the background.

I stamped Ancient woman 4, added some colour and fussy cut her, then stamped the word, ripped and inked the edges.

Stamps I used: Large tree crown, Ancient woman 4, ATC tekst set 1, and Misc. Words.

The Thick And Thin Of It. Card by Dot

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying the weather where ever you live in the world
and managing to get a little crafting in.

Today I've got a card tutorial to share with you
using the Thick and Thin stamp.

I had so much fun playing with these colours from our challenge this fortnight.
There is just something about Lemon and Lime that screams out "Happy".

Here is how I've made this card ...

Step 1:  Stamp the image, Thick and Thin Men, onto your card.  Then stamp it onto some photo copy paper and cut it out to use as a mask.

Step 2:  Mask your image. Using a sponge, sweep out some distress oxides (Fossilized Amber and Twisted Citron).

Step 3:  Use a circle stencil and use your sponge to add some circle detail with the Twisted Citron DO.  This helps to 'ground' the image to the edges and adds a little extra interest.

Step 4:  With your ATC Text Set 1 word stamp, randomly stamp some words.  Again, this helps ground the image and extend the image.  It also adds another layer.

Step 5:  I've added some black archival ink through another stencil to bring in another layer.  When you add layer upon layer it helps add more interest to your piece and creates more depth.

Step 6:  Randomly stamp the border of the Grunge Tree in a few spots around the edge.  The main image looks a little like Laurel and Hardy to me, so the grungy effect around the edges adds a that vintage and aged look to your card without too much thinking.

Step 7:  Finish off your card by mounting it onto matching lemon, lime and black cardstock.

These colours were so much fun to use.
We have them as our prompt for the challenge this fortnight.

You are able to join in this challenge here,
or over on facebook.
You will be in the draw to win some awesome and fun stamps!!!

Use Some Words and Embrace Your Weirdness

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
it is Dot here with a tutorial for you using alcohol inks.
This fortnight's challenge is to use words
and the main ones used is this card are from 'Stay Weird'.

Step 1:  Using glossy cardstock put some blending solution onto your card, dripping a few drops of blue, yellow and green alcohol inks.

Step 2:  Carefully tilt the card around allowing the ink to move in different directions.  I like to keep it away from the edges if I can.  You can repeat this if you wish, it gives even more interesting effects with the alcohol inks. It's great fun just to play with this technique.

Step 3:  A harlequin stencil was used to add blue archival ink through in random areas.  This helps to extend the colour outward into the white areas.

Step 4:  Mask off the words from the 'Stay Weird' stamp.  Use 2nd generation stamping, with the same blue archival ink, stamp these words in random places.  Again, extending the blue outwards.  Repeat with a yellow archival ink.

Step 5:  Stamp 'Stay Weird' onto black cardstock with Versamark and white emboss the words. Trim and sketch around the edge with a white gel pen.

Step 6:  Randomly stamp the gorgeous scrolled writing from ATC Text Set 1 onto the background.  Stamp a couple of your crazy characters from Isle of Aud Animals and Misc. Anthropomorphs onto some photo copy paper and cut them out. Adhere them to your background.

To Finish off ... Doodle a border with a black finer pen. Flick a little white paint to the background if you wish. Attach the finished piece to your folded and scored black cardstock.

Extra notes:  To get the fine detail of the giraffe I've stamped it first onto the background with archival ink. Then when cutting out the giraffe I've simply cut straight down the outside of it's neck. When you place your cut out of the giraffe over the top the fine detail is easy to see.  No fussing cutting of giraffe mains was necessary.

A quick reminder that you still have a couple of days left in order to enter our challenge here,
or over on facebook.
USE SOME WORDS

ATC Coins by Dot

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, it's Dot here with a quick and easy project for you using some fun stamps and alcohol ink to make some Artist Trading Coins.

The stamps used on these coins are Three Monkeys, ATC Text Set 1, ATC Grunge Set,
ATC Doodle Circles and Daisy Flourish.

Step 1: This is a play with alcohol inks and blending solution on some Yupo paper. You can play is much as you like with these.  I added in some tiny dots here and there by adding blending solution with the tip of a brush and blowing on it.  This stops it from spreading into bigger circles and is heaps of fun.

Step 2: I added some Alcohol Lift to the ATC Doodle Circles, stamped it onto the background. Let it sit and then buff.  The effect looks brilliant in real life.

Step 3:  Stamping! Where would we be without our stamps!  The script is from ATC Text Set 1 and is stamped in a light coloured Archival ink.  In black archival I've stamped some random patches with the ATC Grunge Set and Daisy Flourish stamps.  The Three Monkeys was stamped onto some photo copy paper and cut out.

Step 4:  Using white acrylic paint and some lids add some more circles to the background. I've also gone in and added some lines with the acrylic paint using an old credit card.

Step 5:  To finish, attach the monkeys and then attach some words. I chose some chit chat stickers that kind of went with each of the monkeys.  I've also edged around the coins with black archival ink.

Now I have some coins that I can either use in my Art Journal,
on cards or swap with others. They are so handy to have.

The main stamp used was Three Monkeys

It's a great set to use with the monkeys all together, or as cheeky little monkeys all on their own.

You still have until the 14th of March to enter our
ATC, Coins and Chunky's Challenge which you can find
either on the side-bar, or on facebook.
You could win free stamps.

Hope to see you there.

In the meantime,
Happy Stamping!

Edgar Allan Poe Strikes Again!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, it's Dot here today with a tutorial for you
which is Poe inspired.  It is for our current Silhouette Challenge.

The Grunge Tree makes a sombre backdrop for Edgar Allan Poe.
And just for fun, the Zombie Chicken looks suitably scared.
The words are from Dogs Like Me.

Step 1:  Stamp Poe onto your card. And again onto some photo copy paper (cut out to use as a mask).

Step 2:  Mask Poe and then stamp the Grunge Tree. I've used brown and black Archival ink for this.

Step 3:  Make a circle mask using a circle die and place the mask above Poe's head.

Step 4:  On an acrylic block swipe some Tea Dye Distress Ink and some water and stamp this around the circle mask.  I've also blended a little Tea Dye ink around the edge of the moon so that it is more pronounced. Remove the mask.

Step 5:  Stamp the Zombie Chicken so that he is sitting on Poe's head and is placed in the moon spotlight.

Step 6:  To finish, stamp the words from Dogs Like Me in random places in the background.  I've used Aged Mahogany in Distress Oxides because it tones in with the browns and stamps crisply.  I've also stamped some extra words from ATC Text Set 1.  Trim the card down and mount onto black and white cardstock.  I've also painted some Tea Dye ink onto Poe's face for a little more effect, and some Black Soot onto the Zombie Chicken.

I hope you enjoy this card and have a go at making it.
Remember, we have a Silhouette Challenge  on until the end of the month.
You can enter by clicking here..
or pop on over to our facebook group and enter there.

Happy Stamping!
