Elk Skull Dreaming

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome Friends...Roni here.
You still have a bit of time to play in the East Meets West Challenge.

I wanted to share the very western Elk Skull Dreamcatcher image with you. The spray of roses and little meadow flowers along with the lovely dream catchers make this a beautiful and versatile image for both guys and gals.

Such a fun image to color which I have done here with a variety of colored pencils including Prismacolor, Soho Urban Artist, and Staedtler.  It was mounted on a suede pattern paper and dark brown card which I finished off with a few sequins.

Hope you join in on the fun!!
Check out all of the details at the link below.

Mexican town at night

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, are you having a nice day? I did, stamped with great pleasure. So created this scenery. I'll tell you how you can make it too. The stamp I used is "South west town" from Carmens Veranda

Smooth stamp paper.
masking tape.
Distressink: chipped sapphire, faded jeans, broken china, bundled sage, antique linen and weathered wood. White acrylic paint. Colorpencils, I used derwent colorsoft.White gelpen. White inkpad (versa magic) Stazon jet black.

First you stamp the South-west-town with black stazon.
Make a mask and mask it.
Cut a circle from masking tape and stick it on the paper, this will become the moon.
Now start with sponges behind and just above the houses with antique linen. Continue with Bundled sage and then the blue colors from light to dark. Apply some white around the moon. Make some splashes on the blue sky with water. When that is dry, splash some stars with white acrylic paint. Now remove the masks. With a small fine sponge you apply some spots on the moon with Weathered wood. Color the houses and put some white lines at the top, so the moon seems to be reflecting its light on the rooftops. Have fun, and dont forget to join in on our challenges.
They start every 1th and 15th of the month.

Slimline card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a slimline card for you.
Stamps used:
Cherry blossom
Asian set
For you today I have a slimline card. It's the new 'it' thing. Everyone is making them. It's a card that can fit in a business size envelope.
I started out with some watercolor paper and some distress spray and distress oxide spray. I made a few backgrounds with this. I used one of them for the first card I shared with you.

I then took the writing from the  Asian set and some water and stamped it on the background.  It took some of the background away and gave a ghost print.
Next I took the Cherry blossom stamp and some black ink and stamped it on top.

I heat set that and mad sure everything was dry before I went on to the next step. I stamped the Buddha from the Asian set with some Versa mark ink and embossed it with gold embossing power.
When that was done I made a card base and added the watercolor piece to it .

Also the sale is still going on. 25 % off.

East Meets West: Oriental Doll

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Thanks for visiting us here at the Portal to check out this current challenge:  East Meets West.
It's Laurie again, and I've created a card for this challenge using the Oriental Doll stamp and the ATC Text Set #1 stamps, both from Lost Coast Designs.

I started by stamping my image with black ink onto a piece of scrapbook paper, then trimmed around the edges to create a border.  I colored the figure with Copic markers.  I restamped the wings onto a piece of paper, cut them out, and traced them onto some gold paper.  They were then cut out and glued over the original stamped wings.  I layered this with a piece of black card stock.  I then stamped the Asian text stamp from the ATC set onto the same paper and trimmed it down to one row of characters.  I edged that in black then punched a hole in the top of the tag and the top left of my card, tying it in place with some cream thread.

We would love for you to share your East Meets West creations with us, in whatever way you choose to interpret this theme.  You might win some free stamps, and don't forget to use some rubber stamping somewhere on your creations!

Smudging card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card I made trying a new technique.
Stamps used:
Asian set
Mail Art set

I was watching one of Tim's demo video from Facebook and he did a technique called smudging. So I wanted to try it.
I stamped with Distress Oxide the Asian set and tried to smudge it and it didn't work out the way I wanted to. I wanted more smudge. So I took some of the ink off the stamp and blended it over the card. Then I took one of the postage stamps from the Mail Art set and did the same thing.
From the Asian set  I took the lady and stamped her in archival ink to stand out. I made water marks on it and then I layered it on some handmade watercolor background paper. Then set it on some black cardstock.

Patriotic Puppy

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here today with a card featuring Lost Coast Designs Drake Dog and a travel theme for the current East Meets West challenge.
Oriental, Western or Travel themed projects and don't forget the stamps!!
So here's my take, in red white and blue cos tomorrow is Norway's National day and I'm feeling the vibe......

I started by lightly stamping Lost Coast Designs Pondscum Background on a white card with Bluebird Archival ink.  I didn't want it to overwhelm so I stamped gently, not perfectly LOL.   I stamped the sentiment and travel word, both from Lost Coast Designs Travel Quotes Set, with Manganese archival
I stamped Drake Dog on white card with both brown and blue archival ink.  Then I did a little paper piecing, cos his trousers are solid and I wanted them blue.  I used Promarkers to add some more red and brown colour, fussy cut and added him to my card.

Mother of dragons.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello there, Riet here, with my contribution to the challenge with the colors, Terracotta, turquoise, black and white. Love these colors. Stamps I used are: Mother of dragons and large florish. And wow what a gorgeus stamps they are. I used watercolor paper and watercolor paint. Stazon jet black and versamark clear and black embossing powder.

Because the mother of dragons is a very detailed stamp, I stamped it with embossing powder. Then masked it and stamped the swirls. I colored with watercolor paint. Black mat pasted behind it and you're done.

You can still enter the challenge, so join the fun and you can win some rubber.

The Bees

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Cathy here with a fun card for you.
Stamps used:
Large Chicken wire background
Bee from the bugz set

I started off with some white cardstock and some Distress paints. I still have to old kind with the dopers on the them. That just worked out for me. So I just smooched some of the 'terracotta' color in circles over the front then I took the 'turquoise' color and put it all around the other color. Next I took a baby wipe and smeared it all around.  There is my background.

Next I stamped the  Large Chicken wire background randomly on the background. So it would give a honeycomb feel. Then I took the  Bee  and some white paint and stamped it 3 times on the background.
Make sure when you are stamping with paint you wash your stamps of right a way because it could ruin the stamps.
Lastly I stamped the  Bee  on white cardstock and die cut it out. Then I die cut out a larger shape from black cardstock to make a mat for the first die cut.
Stuck it all together and  mounted it all on black cardstock.
I hope you will play along with the color challenge.

Also the sale is still going on so go check them out.

On The Button

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  I hope you are having a good week.  Gail here today with a little more inspiration for the Turquoise and Terracotta challenge.  These two colours are just made for each other and I decided to get a little bit arty with the already arty Carmen's Veranda Bullseye Face stamp.

I started by stamping Bullseye Face onto a white card base with Bluebird archival.  I stamped tight against the hinge of the card and then trimmed my card base down a little.  Then I coloured various sections of the image with Rusty Hinge distress ink and edged with brown Promarker pen.
I stamped again on white shrink plastic with the same Bluebird ink, cut with a circle die and again added some Rusty Hinge colour.  I also edged with brown Promarker pen before shrinking.
I added the shrinky dink to the bullseye and also three small pale blue brown dotty buttons on the right hand side.

Happy Mother's Day

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello my friends...I hope you're enjoying your week so far.

Roni here today with a card for Mom...

I created this card by spritzing watercolor paper with a bit of water then sprinkling on Brusho's Terracotta and Turquoise pigment powders. I added more water and powders until I liked the looks of things.  I then stamped the Roses image onto the colored card panel using Imagine's VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  I also stamped a Mother's Day sentiment in the corner.  To spice it up a bit I added silver foiling flakes in the corners to give it a bit of shine.  This panel was then mounted on a black card base.

I hope you will join us in the current challenge Turquoise and Terracotta.

Turquoise and Terra Cotta Day 4: Mayan Man

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello and happy May from Laurie.  I hope the spring weather has arrived to wherever this finds you, and that you are all safe and healthy.

I have a fun card today for the new Turquoise and Terracotta challenge using the Mayan Hieroglyphs stamp set from Lost Coast Designs.
My background was created by using some heavy paper, a stencil, some Liquitex Mat Medium and my Gelli plate.  I applied a thin layer of Mat Medium to my Gelli plate and using a brayer rolled it on evenly.  I then placed a stencil atop this and pulled a print.  Next I removed the stencil and pulled another print.  Once these were dry I went over them with different colored inks - this one uses blue and green Distress Inks.

I stamped my Mayan gentleman with black ink onto white paper and proceeded to color him with Copic Sketch Markers in shades of terracotta and turquoise.  I used a silver Gel pen to add some silver touches.  I attached him to my background piece, stamped my sentiment on a white square that I outlined with black, and attached the sentiment above.  I attached a couple of turquoise enamel dots to his necklace to look like pieces of turquoise.  Final step was to edge the outside with some turquoise ink.

These two colors for this challenge work so well together so play around and see what wonderful projects you can create for a chance to win some free stamps!
