Worth A Try

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with a last reminder for our current challenge

More Than Two Legs

You have until midnight tonight to join up your creations for a chance to win some rubber stamps from Lost Coast Designs or Carmen's Veranda.
I made an ATC using Carmen's Veranda White Cat and Chocolate Breakfast sentiment and Lost Coast Designs Cracked Sky.   I stamped the cracked sky randomly around the ATC and then stamped and embossed the sentiment.  I coloured with Gingerbread and Jumbo Java chalks, diluting them a bit with water and splashing them around to make a chocolatey background.  I used gold and silver pilot markers on the stars and spirals.  Then I stamped and fussy cut White Cat and added him to the ATC.  Look at those eyes!  You are starting to see!!  He has a point.....   Hmmmmm, chocolate.....

12 Legs Total

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a card for you.
Over at Lost Coast Portal there is a challenge of more than 2 legs. Well I made a card that has 12....
So I started off with die cutting a heart out of white cardstock. Then I grabbed my Isle of Aud Animals set.
I arranged the stamps the way I wanted on the heart and then I stamped them out with black ink.

Next I grabbed some pattern paper to be the base for my card. I then cut it to size. As I arranging the card I thought it needed a pop of color. So I grabbed a scrap strip of pattern paper that happen to be the reverse side of the paper I was using and added that to the front.
As I was looking at it I still felt it needed more. So I grabbed my sequins and added a few.  Then my card was done.
Please come and join the fun with More than 2 legs.  You could win some Lost Coast /Carmen's Veranda bucks.

Catch A Butterfly

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi to all from Laurie!  For this monthly challenge of More Than Two Legs I am using one of the Katzelkraft stamps now available from Lost Coast Designs.  This is Striped Cat.
I started by stamping my cat onto a piece of card stock that I had colored using Distress Inks.  Simple process that just involved dragging your ink pad across a piece of paper then smudging it in.  For this one I used brown and yellow ink pads.

I then cut out my cat and gave him some google eyes.  My background is a piece of white paper that I stamped with a text background stamp in black ink.  I then used a stencil of circles and lines and used shades of orange, yellow and brown Distress inks.  I overstamped all of that with a couple of other background stamps - lines and some random spots.

I mounted my background paper to a piece of kraft glassine paper then mounted that to a white card base.  I attached my kitty with foam tape.  Final touch was to cut out a little butterfly and attach it with foam tape to appear to be resting on the kitty's paw.

Check out the current challenge More Than Two Legs and join the fun for a chance to win yourself some Lost Coast dollars!!

We Like To Move It Move It!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and happy Tuesday. It's Sue here again with my second piece for the fun More Than 2 Legs challenge. I hope you're ready for some jungle rock!

I've made another page in my black journal, but this time it's been sewn in rather than working directly onto the page. I find it difficult to work straight into the journal as I'm never really sure what I'm trying to do!
So I started with a piece of 8x8 watercolour card and made a Distress Ink background, then I inked around a leafy mask.

Next I added some more colour with Portfollio pastels through a stencil. This is just what a jungle looks like lol.

Then I stamped all the images from Safari Party and coloured them with watercolour pencils and Distress Crayons. As you can see I'm no colourista!

I thought I would let the monkey lead the conga as he's the one with the big stick. The giraffe is obviously a party animal, but I think the lion looks a little embarrassed.

So get your groove on and join in with our challenge - the more legs the better!
Have a lovely week, and thanks very much for looking xx

Go Out

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a postcard for you.
More that 2 legs is the challenge.

I started off making this postcard with a technique. It is from Wendy Vecchi. She calls them Archival ink backgrounds. Here is a link to watch her video on it.
This is how I did it. Take Archival ink smoosh it on a craft mat. I took 3 colors. A gray, tan(brown) and a teal . Next you spray 91% isopropyl alcohol on them. Then you take you paper and put it in the ink. The great thing is the paper does not warp.

Please if you do this PLEASE do it in a ventilated area.

The alcohol dries fast. So the next step I did was pick out a stencil and used some of the gray ink and added it to my background. Then I had a scrap of pattern paper on the table and I added that to the postcard in the corner.
Then I stamped the Happy Cat stamp on tissue paper.  I did that because at the time I didn't have a clue where I was going with this postcard.
Anyway I glued the stamped image on to the postcard with matte gel.  As that was drying I went through my word stickers and found this saying. I cut and added it to the postcard and I outlined it with black marker.
Then I was looking at it and I felt it still needed something so I grabbed my  mini crown stamp and stamped it on top of the cats head because you all know it is always better with a crown.
Then last I took the teal ink and I stamped  Corner Swirl around the postcard.
Please link up your artwork here.
Don't forget we also have a Facebook group where you can also share you love of Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda stamps.

I Meant to Behave...

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi all!  Laurie here having fun with this "More Than Two Legs" challenge on the Portal.  I hope you are planning to join us for this one!

I used one of the Katzelkraft stamps available at Lost Coast Designs for this one:  Coffee Chihuahua.  I stamped this little guy with black ink onto some brown scripted Tim Holtz paper and cut him out.  I then stamped his eyes and the coffee cup with black ink onto white paper, cut those out, and placed them atop my original cut out.  The collar was stamped onto gold card stock, cut out, and attached.

The sentiment is one of the new clear stamps you can find on Carmen's Veranda.  There are so many great ones, and they are so affordable.  This one is I Meant to Behave.  I stamped this with black ink onto white card stock and used a fancy circle die to cut it out.

My background paper is one I created using gold, cream, and green acrylic paints and a stencil with circles and lines.  I cut out the background and layered it with a piece of white card stock.  I affixed the sentiment to the upper right corner and used foam tape to attach my Chihuahua to the lower left corner.

And voila!  This cute little guy would make a fun card for just about any occasion!  So get out your stamps and your ink pads and join us for the More Than Two Legs Challenge!

Cathy here with a card here for you.
     Happy Valentine's Day to all.
I made this card for the Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.

This is how I made the card. I started with a white 8x11 piece of cardstock. Grabbed some paints and my fingers and painted the whole thing. Set aside to dry.
Then on a scrap piece of white cardstock I stamped Thick and Thin Men.
Then I cut them out.
When dried I grabbed some different stencils and some black paint and added to the paper.
Next I stamped Doodle Circles on the paper and I then cut them out. you can see it here. I then placed them all over on the card front.
Then I added the stamped image the front of the card and I called it done.

A Boys Best Friend

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with card featuring Lost Coast Designs Milo and Raphael.  There are a number of photo-real stamps on the website and I am always amazed on the detail and how they look like a vintage photo.
I stamped Milo and Raphael using black archival on white paper and fussy cut them.  They come with an arch background but for today's project I just wanted them.  I stamped and white embossed the Carmen's Veranda All Who Wander sentiment.  Then I wanted a border and I thought I would use Lost Coast's Drips in a slightly different way.  I stamped it on black paper and embossed with white powder.  I fussy cut the top edge and added it vertically to the right hand side of my card.  I quite like the abstract look.

Thanks for dropping by.  There is still time to add your makes to the current
Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.
We want to see you men and boys images as the focus of your project but any style or type of project is welcome.  Don't forget to stamp.

Man Arch

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a Arch for the Boys, Boys, Boys (& men) challenge.

First off  I grabbed some Tim Holtz paper to make the arch. Then I started looking through my stash of bits and piece of paper and grabbed a few things that I thought would work well together.

I started off with stamping my background. I used ATC Gothic Text and Grunge Diamond Background.  I would say these are my go to stamps to start a background layer.  Next I edged the arch with brown ink.  Grunge it up.  Then I started on my paper stash.  I figured out how I wanted it on the arch and then I started inking the edges and tearing the paper and gluing them all in place.
I stamped Silhouette Man with Cane on a scrap piece of white cardstock and cut out.  Edge the sides with black marker so you don't see the white.  Then I glued him in place.  I stamped the Numbers Border on tissue paper and glued that on.  As I was looking at it I felt it still needed something so I added a word sticker.

Why don't you get out your boys and men and join the challenge.

"Boys" Discussing Important Stuff

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi all, Laurie here.  Hope everyone is keeping warm.  This time of year is always a good time to hunker down and do something crafty, so hope you are joining in the monthly challenges here on the Portal.

This month one of the challenges is "Boys Boys Boys".
I made a fun postcard for this challenge.  I used the Miscellaneous Anthromorphs Set - it also includes a giraffe but since she's a girl, she doesn't make it for this challenge!
I stamped my animals with black ink on white card stock and colored them with some Copic Sketch markers.   Then I cut each of them out.  My background is a piece of yellowish paper that I stenciled and stamped on using brown and green inks.  I put two vintage postage stamps in the upper right corner and a piece of Washi tape along the upper left corner.  I then used a glue stick and attached my "boys" in a row across the middle.
Be sure to check out the other Anthromorph stamps on Lost Coast Designs - there are some really fun and unusual designs!
Happy Crafting!!

Let Your Weird Light Shine

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and happy Tuesdsay, it's Sue here with my first piece for the Boys Boys Boys challenge, and I'm combining some fun new stamps with some old favourites.

I started by painting a page of my chippie album in greens and blues for grass and sky

Then I added some 'wierd light' as I'd decided upon my quote. I also added my 'go to' border, Rustic Checkerboard .

Next I stamped, watercoloured, and cut out my images. I've used American Gothic Party, American Gothic Steampunk, (this is a new image and I love it!) and Cityscape.

Then they'be been stuck down and this fab Carmens Veranda quote added, it's called Weird Bright Light and I think it sums my piece up perfectly!

I hope that you like it, and that you let the boys out of the toybox and join in with our fun challenge. Have a lovely day, and thanks very much for looking xx

Belated Birthday Wishes from Oz

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with some inspiration for our Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.
Now, I know many people find male themed cards an extra challenge.   I know I do usually.  But for some reason the inspiration just kept coming.  Maybe it's because Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have so many really cool men stamps.   So here's one, dressed as a scarecrow!!
I stamped Lost Coast Designs Fourth Dimension using blue ink onto a white card base.  I stamped letters and numbers from License Plate Alphabet using dark blue ink, cut round them and inked the edges with the same ink.  I stamped, fussy cut and coloured Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow and added him to the card.  Love this guy!!  Thought he made a perfect image for a belated birthday card.  Something I need fairly often ROFL.
Link up your stamped makes using Boy and/or Men for a chance to win
Lost Coast dollars.

Alfred Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for the Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.
First of all I have to tell you how I did this background. I watched Jennifer McGuire Alcohol marbling backgrounds.
This is what I came up with. Some not so good. Some I love. For me cold water did not work well. Just a little FYI if you are going to try it. Also black didn't work well either.
I just grabbed one of these background and ran it through my Big Shot with a die and cut it to fit on a front of a card. Next I grabbed a stencil and made the swirl background with some distress ink.
Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock on the front
Stamped again on white and cut out the movie cut board and glued it on to make it stand out. Then I added it to a white card front and done
Link up for a chance to win Lost Coast $'s.
