Fish Friends

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here with some inspiration for the No Body Here Challenge.  No people allowed this month so avoid anything that resembles a person.  That leaves plenty of scope with animals, plants, inanimate objects, abstract, words and anything else you can think of.  I went with fish and a lovely chequered spiral using Lost Coast Designs Fish and Heart Set.
I used red and blue archival inks to stamp the spiral and the fish.  I fussy cut the fish and arranged them on the spiral and then stamped the sentiment from Lost Coast Designs Travel Quotes set.

Grab your stamps and join the fun!!  You have all month to share your stamped anythings featuring anything EXCEPT PEOPLE!!  Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project and we need at least 20 entries to award the prize.
Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Under the Sea: Steampunk Mermaid

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi eveyone! It´s Liesbeth here with an ,Under the Sea` card to show you for our current challenge. There's still a few days time to join us, hope you do!

On an alcohol ink background (glossy paper) I stamped the mermaid with black StazOn ink and masked her. With green, blue and black StazOn I stamped the border and the stamps of the stamp set. I removed the mask and finished the card with Distress markers, gel pens  and I made a shadow around the mermaid.

See you next time,
Liesbeth XX

There Is No Beauty Without Some Strangeness

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Sunday!  It's Sue here with my journal page for our  Vintage/Steampunk challenge, and I've taken us under the sea.

My teamie Iona is the queen of masking, and I decided that I really should do this more. So, I stamped my punky creatures on some heavy-duty mixed media paper, and made my masks.

Then I dipped and dabbed in Distress Oxides. Time for the great reveal....

Phew it worked, I now have my steampunk fish and seahorse ready to colour.

These have been coloured with paint pens and pencils. If I'm really honest, I'm much happier to stamp and fussy cut rather than mask, so I can't see myself doing this again in the near future.
I've finished off with some white embossing, and some rusty Frantage. The quote is by Edgar Allan Poe and I thought it fitted in quite well. Then I've just sewn it into my journal.

These are the stamps that I used

I hope you like it, and that you join in with our challenge.

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks so much for looking x

Under the sea: steampunk

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone! There's still time to paticipate in our challenge Under the Sea! Here's another big card I made, it was so much fun making it! I stamped the ,waves' 3 times using a Big and Juicy inkpad (rainbow coloured) and spread the ink a bit with water and a brush. I let it dry well. Using black StazOn ink, I stamped the small waves at the bottom and the right ship. I also stamped two ships and the mermaid onto a seperate piece of paper and I cut them out. I coloured them with watercolor pencils, water and I finished with glitter glue after I sticked everything in place.

See you next time!

Under The Sea Grand National

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Tuesday. It's Sue here, and today I'm back with my second project for our Under The Sea challenge and this time I've made a journal page.

I started by making a gelli plate background on a page. When I've done a few more I can put them back in the book. It's not quite the shade that I wanted but I really like the white bubbles so I'm going with it!

Next, I did some stencilling and also stamped the Steampunk Pony as I didn't want to cut out the numbers.

Then I stamped my hard-working fish on scraps of gelli prints.

Luckily my Bird Bones  jockey doesn't weigh much, and as Steampunk Pony is on wheels the fish can pull him quite easily!

I stamped the pony onto another gelli scrap, cut him out, saddled him up, and we're good to go, it's the Grand National under the sea!

I hope you like my fun/weird/slightly bonkers piece and that you join in with our challenge. As always there's the chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.

I've used

Steampunk Pony

Fish and Heart Set

Bird Bones

Have a very happy week, and thanks so much for looking x

Down With The Fishes

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning (although it's actually afternoon here in the UK) and a very Happy New Year to everyone. It's Sue here with our first challenge of the year at Lost Coast Designs, and it's 'Oodles of Doodles' Now this would normally strike terror into my heart, but my resolution for this year is to
a) lose half my body weight (only joking - or am I....) and
b) be a bit less of a perfectionist/control freak/not such an uptight arse - we can say this in England, it's not swearing - honestly! So, to celebrate the untightening of my arse - not sure if we can say that?? I didn't make my piece until the morning it was due, and I'm now typing up my post an hour and 15 before it due EEEEEEK!!
Anyway, here it is

So, in keeping with the theme of 'no worries' I decided to start in my brand new, pristine journal! But it's a cheapo one which is great because it doesn't matter if I mess up in it.

I't a black journal, so my first layer is white gesso, and then some colour.

I've used a mixture of Amsterdam, and Dina Wakley acrylics, and just brayered a background.

I also made a mop up sheet to use later.

Time for some stencilling and doodling with a white pen and black acrylic.

On my mop up sheet I stamped some images from the Fish and Heart Set and cut them out.

Then I sewed them onto a couple of tags.

I stamped the fish onto the circle from the Shadow Frame set so that I could reverse stamp it. It's not as 'perfect' as the normal stamping, but remember resolution (b) lol

The circles from the Leonardo Accessories Set have been stamped and cut out from the mop up sheet. You can also see the Large Chickenwire Background in the corner.

So there we are, all done with seconds to spare lol

It's your turn now, please join in with your doodles, however you make them for the chance to win some Lost Coast $'s.

Submit your entries in the linky party by 5 to midnight PST on the 14th and don't forget to follow us so you don't miss anything!  The team will be posting more inspiration throughout the month.

Thanks very much for looking, and I'll see you later in the month xx
