Use Some Words Challenge: Waltzing Cowboys

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

I again from  Laurie with a fun tag for the current challenge:  Use Some Words.  If you have not been over to the Carmen's Veranda website lately, you must check out the huge selection of clear stamps there.  Some really funny and some touching ones as well!

The base for my tag is a gelli print that I made atop a piece of music book paper.  I used cream and rust colored acrylic paints and a couple of different stencils.  I cut this down to tag size and edged it the Vintage Photo Distress ink.

The Waltzing Cowboys were stamped with black ink onto white card stock and fussy cut out.  I colored the cowboys with Copic Sketch markers then attached them to the front of the tag with foam tape to give them some dimension.

The 2 to 3 Glasses of Wine clear stamp was stamped with black ink onto white paper, edged with Vintage Photo Distress ink, and attached to the bottom of the tag below the cowboys.

Find some words that inspire you to create something special and post it here on the Portal for a chance to win some free stamps!

#169 "Use some words" challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi stampers, Riet here with a easy card with panpastel.
Do you want to now how?
Just follow these steps.

This challenge is about words and sentiments.
At Carmens Veranda stamps you will find a whole page full
of the most beautiful and funniest sentiments and sayings.
I chose a very nice one for this card.
This time I made a soft background in pastel colors, made with Panpastel.
It seems difficult but it is so easy.
Just follow my steps and you will see what a beautiful result panpastel gives.

What do you need for this card.

You need further.
A black ink pad,(memento).
Versamark
Stencil with small holes.
Modeling paste.

Panpastel:
yellow,
green,
pink,
lilac,
Pan pastel small tools.

You can copy the card or make your own layout.
Whatever you want.
Start with one of the stamps.
Stamp with the Versamark.
Pick up one color of the panpastel with your tool.
Tap over the stamp print, do not wipe before the entire stamp is covered with the powder.
Now you can rub it gently with the panpastel tool.
If you didn't tap first, the stamp would be smeared and you would get a faded stamp impression.

Now you repeat this process with a different stamp and different color.
This way you fill every spot on the card.

Now I was so absorbed in my work that I forgot to take any more pictures.
But it is not that difficult and can easily be done without the pictures.

With the black ink, I stamped the text of Carmens Veranda stamps in the middle.
With the same black I stamped top left and bottom right a part of the de Long swirl stamp.
Let the black ink dry thoroughly so that you don't get smears.
Now with the stencil and the moddeling paste you make the white circles.
This gives it a little more depth and interest.
Matt the card and then you're done.
I hope you liked it.

The Lost Coast designs team would love it if you would join the challenge.
You can even participate with stamps from other brands.
And of course there is a prize to be won.
So join the fun, I look forward to seeing your art work on the LCD/Carmens Veranda stamps blog or facebook.

Challenge #169 - Use Some Words - Georges & Lewis

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Ink Stained Roni here with my first contribution for the Use Some Words challenge.  I just love this stamp - Georges & Lewis.... Such a fun vintage image of childhood past.  I stamped the image once with Dove Grey then a second time using a few shades of blue Distress Inks.  I fussy cut the blue hat and coat and glued it to the grey image. The image was then die-cut and inked here and there with a bit more dove grey and blue.

I paired the image with the perfect sentiment from Carmen's Veranda - Be the Person.  It was all added to a card base with some vintage scrapbook paper in my collection.

Hope you join us for this fun challenge.... Use Some Words!

Mini Me Challenge - Butterfly Swirls ATC Set

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello friends - Ink Stained Roni here with another fun bit of stamping for the current challenge #168 - Mini Me!

I have to tell you I just love this challenge - so many fun little bits to try! Today I made some ATC cards using images from the Butterfly Set, Long Swirl and words from the Misc Words set.

To create these cards I started off by dipping 3 different pieces of vintage ephemera into Distress Oxide inks and let them dry. Once dry I mounted them on ATC cards and trimmed away the excess paper.  Next I applied embossing paste through a stencil and let that dry. These dots were then colored using a variety of Marabu Art Crayons.

I stamped the open areas with the long swirl and green ink.  The butterflies and words were stamped on scraps of paper from my stash. The butterflies were colored using Clean Brush Markers with a bit of Stickles added here and there.  The words were trimmed and the edges were inked then they were affixed to each of the ATC's.

I hope you are inspired to create your own little piece of art.  If you do, be sure to add it to the challenge page for your chance to win!!

Mini Me: Creatures ATC

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone!
It´s Liesbeth here again with another Mini Me. You will find HERE everything about this lovely challenge and of course how to participate! :-)

I would love to show you this oldie ÁTC, it's the style I love the most, mistical and a bit weird. The headfooter stamp is from one of the painting of Hjeronimus Bosch (1450-1516), a Dutch painter that I am a huge fan of.

First I made a coloured background onto a white ATC card  with Distress inks. I stamped the penguin with StazOn and masked him, after that I stamped the headfooter and masked that as well. I stamped the window and the text (purple). I removed the masks and bleached the creatures with...bleach ;-)
I finished the ATC with some colour pencils and white gel pen and sponged black edges.

Fragment of the painting:

Hope you like this, see you next time!

Mini Me: Cake Smelling Cat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the Mini Me Challenge going on right now here on the Portal.  What is Mini Me??  Well, think small.  ATC, inchie, twinchie, Ink Box card, mini tags or cards.  Lots to choose from, and I have an ink box card for this one.  If you are not familiar with ink box cards, they measure 3" x 3" with rounded corners.  They are called ink box cards because they are the exact shape and dimensions of a Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad.

This card uses the Curtain Cat stamp and the Large Chickenwire background stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs, as well as the  Smell Cake clear stamp and the Calligraphy Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

First step was to stamp my cat onto a piece of orange card stock with black ink and fussy cut him out.  I then cut a strip of coordinating paper and stamped it with the chicken wire background stamp.  I layered that atop the cat, cutting around where his paws are so you could see them.  My ink box card is backed with a piece of a gelli print in shades of white and orange and it was stamped with the Calligraphy Square stamp in black ink.

I attached the background to my card base then positioned the chicken wire and cat portion along the left edge.  All edges were trimmed to fit the shape of the card base and then edged with black ink.  The sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a white scrap, and I ran it through my printer to reduce the size so it would better fit the card front.  I cut it into sections, outlined them in black and affixed them as shown along the left side.

You still have a few days left in this Challenge so be sure to get your makes posted in time for a chance to win some free stamps!

#168 - Mini Me challenge (smaller than a card) so ATC, Bookmarks, Tags, Inchies, Twinchies,

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
For the mini me challenge I made a bookmark.
Something different than a card is always a nice change.
I made a bookmark with a butterfly resting on top of the book.
This is what I used:

Distressink,
Victorian velvet,
Speckled egg,
Bundled sage.
Color pencils in these 3 colors.
Versafine black onyx.
Silver thread.
Posca marker white.
Corner scissors or punch.
White paper 200grams.
Gleu.

How its made:
Cut a piece of paper in this size.

Make spots on the paper with the 3 colors of distress ink.

Stamp the florish with the black versafine.

Color the florish with the colored pencils.

Stamp the largest butterfly of the set twice, with the versafine.
The largest because it was for a very thick book.
If you have a thinner book, take a smaller butterfly.

Color the butterflies with the pencils,
and give them some accents with the posca marker.
Cut them out.

From the silver wire we make the feelers / antennae of the butterfly.

Take a piece of paper 1cm wide and 10cm long.
Score at 1cm, 5cm, 9cm.
Fold the centerline.
Fold out the 2 score lines as shown in the picture.

Cut a line in the middle of the butterfly that is the same size as the paper.
Put the paper through and glue the flaps to the bottom of the butterfly.

When you've done that it will look like this.

Now take the other butterfly and glue the
feelers/antennas to the blank side of the butterfly.

Now glue the 2 butterflies together.
There may be an edge sticking out here and there with the butterflies.
Carefully trim that away a bit until they fit together perfectly.

Now take the piece of paper with the florish.
With the corner scissors or punch we cut beautiful corners.
With an ink blender and bundled sage we put the edges on a bit.

Now fold the bookmark with the flap of the butterfly in between.
Check that everything is in the right place.
If that's good, glue it closed.

I hope you find it a nice tutorial and will also make such a nice bookmark.
And don't be shy, feel free to show the result on the facebook group
of Lost coast designs/Carmens veranda.
Also don't forget to join the challenge.
You then have a chance to win beautiful stamps of your own choice.
So click here for the challenge.
And here for the facebook group.
