Christmas Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today with more Paper Piecing fun.   A friend commented that she didn't like fussy cutting unless it was big bits.  Big bits is fine.  There are some nice big bits on this lovely Lost Coast Designs Christmas Angel with Halo and I really had fun paper piecing this one.

Doesn't she look splendid!
Someone asked me why would you might want to paper piece something.  Well, I suppose it's a bit like patchwork, it allows you to use up some smaller scraps that maybe you would just throw away.   It saves having to colour.  Today I did a lot of tone on tone stamping just using plain paper and letting the inks supply the contrast and patterns.  It also gives a subtle dimension that I like.

Here's my angel stamped on my scraps.  I decided to gold emboss the red piece because I wanted a bit of extra opulence for my red frame.

I mounted the angel on a nice yellow card base and stamped the Party Words sentiment with Mulberry archival ink, which I also used to edge the layers.

Join the Paper Piecing fun for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars and don't forget to keep checking back for more awesome inspiration from the team.

Christmas Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today and there is still time to link up your stamped Winged Things to the challenge linky, or share on the fb fan group if you are using Lost Coast Designs and/or Carmen's Veranda stamps.  There are a nice lot of entries but still room for some more.
I like to make a few Christmas cards every month so I don't have a big stress later in the year and today I've used the beautiful Lost Coast Designs Christmas Angel with Halo.

I started by using a snowflake stencil and blue ink on a pale blue background.  Always love a bit of tone on tone.   Then I stamped Happy Christmas in blue ink using Lost Coast Designs Misc. Words.

I stamped the Angel using blue ink on white card and coloured with sharpies and distress inks.
Thanks for dropping by.   You have until the last minute of the month to add your project to the Winged Things linky.   Hope to see you there.

Art Angel

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today and we are rolling into November with an Art Doll/Diva challenge.  Share your awesome art dolls and amazing divas.  I have been playing with Lost Coast Designs Christmas Angel with Halo and given it a faux stained glass look.

I stamped the angel on a piece of acetate using blue Staz-on ink.  When it had dried I turned the acetate over and used Sharpies to colour the angel.  I used a yellow sharpie to make rays behind her head and halo.  I die cut a fancy frame and ran the acetate all the way to the edge of the frame.  I slid a piece of silver glitter card behind the acetate to make it sparkly.  Here you can see the effect with and without the glitter card.
I mounted the stained glass angel panel on a white base card, added a few yellow enamel dots and stamped Carmen's Veranda Art Wings to Fly sentiment in blue ink.
Link up your stamped projects featuring Art Dolls/Divas for a chance to win.
