#185, Let us entertain you. Movie time.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.
What a fun challenge.
You can participate with anything related to theater, film, dance, circus, etc.
I am a huge film fan and especially love the old Hitchcock films, they are fantastic.
You can see from this card what my favorite is.

Stamps I used:

I die cut the film strip and stamped parts of crows with black ink.
Stamped Alfred and masked him.
Stamped part of the Fourth Dimension to lay a floor.
Using a sponge with a very fine structure,
I tapped the speckles on the white parts of the card with black ink.
And I made the scratches with the side of cardboard and black ink.
It should look like an old film reel.
I colored Alfred's suit and shadow with a gray pencil.
And with a letter die I made the word bird.
The card is matted with black cardstock.

Hope you will join in this fun challenge,
There is a price to be won.
Please read the rules first to avoide disapointment.
See you at the challenge.

Homage to Alfred

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here with some inspiration for our May challenge Let Us Entertain You!
We want to see your stamped anythings with an entertainment theme, so think clowns, circus, movie stars, theatre, opera, dancers, TV etc etc.  The team are posting their awesome makes all month so make sure you check out all the posts on the blog.

I've used Carmen's Veranda's Alfred Hitchcock standing and combined it with sentiments and a tonic diecut.
I decided to keep everything black and white so I cut the film die cut from white card.  Then I used Lost Coast Designs Flagstone Background stamp and black ink to add texture.  I mounted it on a black card base.
I set back in the white pieces in the film strip and stamped the sentiments.  I stamped
Alfred on white card with black ink, fussy cut and added him to my card.
You have all month to share your stamped anythings with an entertainment theme. Please read the updated rules before entering. Real rubber or clear stamping and theme must be the focus of your project for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$'s.
Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

For the men

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a vintage, grungy card for you today.
Stamps Used:

I started by making the background by using some distress ink colors in brown. I then stamped a stamp from the Travel set using one of the same ink colors I used to make the background. I did the same thing with the typewriter. I edged it in the newest color of distress ink and then dripped some water on it to make more interest on the background.
I then stamped Alfred  Hitchcock standing in black ink to make him stand out from the background. I added some washi stickers to the side and layered it on a black card base.

I hope you join this month-long challenge here.

Hidden Self

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Well, here we are in February and the challenge this month is For The Men.  Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have so many wonderful masculine stamps and the team is knocking it out of the park with so much awesome inspiration.   I've made a card using two of my favourite blokes, Weeping Man and Alfred Hitchcock.

I started by stamping Weeping Man on white card with brown archival ink.  I spritzed with water and sprinkled Paper Artsy blackcurrant, rusty car and golden sands infusion powders and waited for the magic to happen.

I cut the Weeping Man panel with a stitched edge die and stamped the Carmen's Veranda Squirrel in Traffic sentiment.  Then I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock and added him to the card.
Join the For The Men challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars and don't forget to check back often for lots more wonderful inspiration from the team.

You Call It A Clapperboard.......

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps. Gail here today with some inspiration for the Mini Me challenge.  We want to see smaller stamped makes like ATC, inchies, bookmarks, tags etc.  I made a tag using Carmen's Veranda's Alfred Hitchcock Standing and the wonderful Givashitometer sentiment.
I always wondered what that was called!
I've used Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 2" on the tag with pink archival ink.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the tag but Alfred was stamped on white card, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut.  A bit of fancy wool and done.
Join the Mini Me fun and don't forget to check back often to enjoy all the awesome inspiration from the team.
 Thanks for stopping by.  Hugz

Happy New Year From Everyone

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Happy New Year from Gail.  Again.
But you can never have too much happy can you.
I hope your 2023 is off to an awesome start.
For my project today I decided to look through my stamps and select a few favourites to use.   Turns out I have way too many favourites, but after some deliberation, and a bit of push and shove, I became happy with this.
For this card I used lots of stamps, lots of masks and blue and black archival ink.  We have Lost Coast Designs ZZ Top Gnome 2 and Carmen's Veranda Monkey with a Banjo supplying the music, direction and artistic appreciation by Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock Standing and Salvador Dali, entertainment by Carmen's Veranda Kukla and Ollie, Lost Coast Designs Doodle Doll is supplying an element of mystery and the celebratory fly-by is courtesy of Lost Coast Designs Flying Pig.  I used a couple of the stamps from Lost Coast Designs Pieces of Calligraphy to fill in the empty spaces.
Here are a few pictures of the 'unveiling'

Remember, if you are stamping and masking a scene you stamp the front elements first and work back.  Sometimes its helpful to roughly stamp all the images on a scrap piece of paper first so you can see how they go together.
I hope you get time to share our Slimline Challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.
Don't forget to stamp!!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Happy Halloween
Cathy here with the last card for the 31 days of Halloween.
Stamps Used:

I started off with some black cardstock and I white heat embossed Spiderweb background, Cut out and layered it on a white cardstock base.
Next, I stamped Alferd Hitchcock standing with black ink on white cardstock and cut out. I then took a cotton ball and took some off and pulled it apart to wrap around Alferd Hitchcock standing to look like he was caught in a spider web. added foam tape to back and stuck him to the front of the card.
Lastly added a saying to have Alferd Hitchcock stand on, and what better saying then The End for the ending of the 31 days of Halloween.

You still have today to join the Halloween fun here

Movie Nite

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good Morning Cathy here with snacks for the movie nite.
Stamps Used:

I started out with a Kraft fry box. I used distress oxide sprays on it to color the whole thing. I dried it with a heat tool so I could move on to the next part.
I took some texture paste and mixed some black gesso into it. Grab your favorite stencil and put the paste through. I did it on the front and back. Set aside to dry.

I then worked on coloring the images I was going to use to decorate the box. I stamped out all the ones I wanted and then I used my scan-n-cut to cut them all out.
Next I colored them all with copic markers and decided where I wanted them.
I put Sherlock on the front. I then used a computer printed saying for movie nite.
I used glue and tape to hold them down over the texture paste.
For the back I stuck Alfred Hitchcock and Oz witch I also have some texture paste on the back.

I stuck some candy and a package of microwave popcorn in the fry box.
I hope you like my take on Movie Mania.

Our Friendship...

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Tuesday, It's Sue here with my second 'Stamped Background' project, and I would like my friend Alfred to introduce it!
I started by making my background with the Perspective Floor stamp, whoo this makes your eyes go a little squiffy!

I used the same stamp again for Alfred's background, this has such a 1960's feel to it.

I've given Alfred Hitchcock Standing (well it is Alfred Hitchcock, and he is standing lol) his own Nevermore Raven, you can't have Alfred without a bird!

And I'm sure that he would be full of witty anecdotes, sparkling conversation, and plenty of plain weirdness. This is also a Carmen's Veranda clear stamp, called Our Friendship I've dotted a couple more ravens around for good measure.
There's still a week or so to join in with our challenge, so I hope to see you over on the Portal.
Enjoy the rest of the week, and thanks very much for looking xx

Alfred Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for the Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.
First of all I have to tell you how I did this background. I watched Jennifer McGuire Alcohol marbling backgrounds.
This is what I came up with. Some not so good. Some I love. For me cold water did not work well. Just a little FYI if you are going to try it. Also black didn't work well either.
I just grabbed one of these background and ran it through my Big Shot with a die and cut it to fit on a front of a card. Next I grabbed a stencil and made the swirl background with some distress ink.
Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock on the front
Stamped again on white and cut out the movie cut board and glued it on to make it stand out. Then I added it to a white card front and done
Link up for a chance to win Lost Coast $'s.

So I started off stamping Alfred Hitchcock on a white cardstock panel . Next I stamped him again on a scrap of copy paper and made a mask. Cut out and covered. Next I took the flying birds background and stamped only on one side of the card panel.  Edged the panel with red distressed ink. Last I took the drips  stamp and stamped it in the same red I used to ink the edge and stamped the top of the red card with it. That is my card for today.
