Game On

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here today with my first inspiration piece for the Inchie Twinchie Domino Challenge.  I decided to chop up my background into bits and piece it back together.
I stamped Carmen's Veranda Dice Background using yellow ink on white card and then chopped it into 1" x 1", 2" x 2" and 2" x 1" pieces.  I arranged the inchie, twinchie and domino size pieces onto a black card square and then added a yellow mat behind.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock Standing on white card with black ink, fussy cut him and added him to the card.  To finish I stamped Lost Coast Designs Happy Birthday on one of the domino pieces.
For September we want to see your stamped makes featuring Inchies (1" x 1"), Twinchies (2" x 2"), and/or Dominos (2" x 1")  You can make said Inchies, Twinchies or Dominos with real rubber or clear stamping, or you can incorporate these sizes into your project in another way, perhaps chop up your background, or your foreground, cut windows, or maybe make a three dimensional shape, or a tiny album.
The team is sharing awesome projects all month so do scroll down and pop back to check out all the amazing inspiration.

Black and White Dice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here with some quick last minute inspiration for the Black and White challenge.
I've made a really quick and easy birthday card which I think would be great for the men and boys using Carmen's Veranda Dice Background and a Happy Birthday sentiment from Lost Coast Designs.  I embossed my stamped dice and sentiment with clear embossing powder for a nice glossy look and a bit of texture, but you don't need to do that, so this one is really really quick!
You have until 23.59 PST tonight to join the fun with your black and white, or white and black stamped projects for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to check out all the awesome projects from the team and pop back tomorrow for the start of our new challenge.

Give me Hugs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here again.  I am just having a blast keeping the Sentiment in Focus this fortnight.  You know Carmen's Veranda has the best sentiments, and it doesn't take much to make a quick card to send love, hugs and a laugh.   I've used my easy formula of Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda background, image of your choice and Carmen's Veranda sentiment.
I used Carmen's Veranda Dice Background stamped with Shabby Shutters distress ink on a yellow card base.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Tabby Cat on some DCWV cloud patterned paper and finished with Carmen's Veranda $8 Million sentiment.

I hope you get time to join the Sentiment in Focus challenge
You need to include at least 5 words on your stamped anything for a chance to win.
Thanks for visiting.  Hugz

Happy Dice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today in a very hot Norway.  Keeping cool is my number 1 priority at the moment so I decided to relocate to a shady corner of the garden and play with stamps and distress markers.
We started a new challenge yesterday called Background Forward, and we want to see background stamps or stamped backgrounds as the star of your project.  Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have some awesome background stamps.  I used Carmen's Veranda Dice Background
I started by stamping and embossing the Dice Background on white card.  I used gold embossing powder, which looks very pretty, and I was tempted to just leave it like this.  An idea for a quick card in the future.........
I coloured the dice with bright distress colours and then spritzed to get the worn look.  The sentiment is from Lost Coast Designs Party Words.
Thanks for dropping by.  Stay safe and keep well.  Grab you stamps and join our
Background Forward challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$$'s

Only Sometimes

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  I hope you are having a fun and creative day.  Gail here today, crazily inspired by the fun Lemon, Lime and Black challenge colours.
Have you met Gus??  He's very laid back.  Just don't ask him for directions!!

I started by stamping Carmen's Veranda Dice Background using black archival on patterned paper and added a generous smear of Twisted Citron distress ink.
I stamped Lost Coast Designs Gus on a scrap of white card and fussy cut him.  Then I coloured him with Mustard Seed distress ink.
I grabbed a scrap of yellow card.  I wanted some texture so I used the Mustard Seed ink and Dice Background to give a bit of tone on tone.  Then I stamped the Carmen's Veranda Directions sentiment with black archival and cut it up.
A black base card and a yellow mat and it all went together like this.

20 Past Frank and Other Stories + A Giveaway

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today.  It's been too long since I had a date with Frank so I decided to make myself a pendant for the big day.  I got a bit carried away, but, as you know, good things come in threes......
Meet the Franks.......

I cut a piece of shrink plastic with a Sizzix die and stamped Frank with black archival.
I masked Frank and stamped Carmen's Veranda Dice Background with Mowed Lawn distress ink.
I coloured Frank with Shabby Shutters distress ink and used my heat gun to shrink him.  Here's a sort of before and after photo.  My circles went from 8.5cm to 3cm.  I liked it so much I decided to make a couple more.
For this one I used Brunhilda's shield and Colourbox Irish ink for the background stamping.
I used the PMC Circle Frame stamp here.  Didn't get a perfect impression, but remember, when you shrink the colours intensify, so I thought I'd go with it.
So here's my three shrunken Franks.  I found a selection of metal findings that I get from a company here in Norway called Korthobby.  The flower at the bottom comes shaped so I ran it through my Bigshot to flatten it out.  It looks nicer with curves, but thought it would be easier to stick everything together if everything was flat.
Calling this one Flower Frank.
This ring made me think Emperor Frank
Calling this one 20 Past Frank.  Incidently, I used water when I coloured this one with the shabby shutters distress ink.  The other two I applied the ink with a sponge and no water.  The water is a bit more tricky with the whole shrink plastic thing, but you get a brighter shade of green.
Thanks for dropping by.

Duck Shit

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Gail here today.  The new challenge here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity is Tweet This!!   We want to see birds on your projects.   Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have lots and lots of amazing bird themed stamps and the team will be showcasing these the next couple of weeks.  Carmen's Veranda's Duck insisted on making another outing!!
He's just so adorable!!  Here he is showing his rebellious side!

I stamped Lost Coast Designs Grunge Border 3" using Wilted Violet distress ink on grey card and cut it with Sizzix Deckle Edge die.  This gave a nice subtle look, but you can still see the details.
I stamped Duck on yellow card using Potting Soil archival and fussy cut and adjusted his wings so he looks a bit more animated.  I stamped the Carmen's Veranda Giveashitometer sentiment and embossed with black ink.  Actually, knowing ducks, I am not sure this sentiment is quite correct, cos ducks shit a lot!!  But there you go!!  Artistic license.  Oh, and despite my usually dislike of punctuation on sentiments I actually felt this one needed a few more full stops, so I used an embossing pen and some more powder to make it a bit more open ended.  I mounted it on a yellow card base that I stamped with Carmen's Veranda Dice Background and the brown archival ink.
Thanks for dropping by.  Link up your Birdie makes for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars and don't forget to drop back often to see more amazing inspiration from the team.
