The Way to Oz

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with a card using the wonderful Carmen's Veranda Oz Scarecrow and I also had some fun with shaving foam and reinkers.  Read down for news on two chances to win Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda stamps......

Here he is, having a Eureka! moment!!

If you haven't tried the shaving foam technique to colour some backgrounds I urge you to give it a go.  Basically squirt a load of shaving foam onto a paper plate, add some colour, I used reinkers, swirl it around with a cocktail stick, place your card into it, scrap off the foam and go Oooooh!!  Pretty!!!!!  It also makes everything smell quite nice as well!  I picked this background cos I thought it looked stormy.

I cut the background with a stitch die and mounted on a black card base.  I stamped the Scarecrow on white card, embossed, coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut.  I made the sign using a different piece of my shaving foam backgrounds, letters from Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet and the broomstick from the Small Witch stamp.  I left the arm attached and coloured it Wicked Witch of the West colours.......  So maybe he's pointing at a squished witch rather that the sign to OZ??!!

Thanks for dropping by.  There is still time to join the Follow the Yellow Brick Road challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda stamps.

Lost Coast Designs is also sponsoring the Allsorts challenge again this week where the theme is Autumn Glory and you have another chance to win a gift voucher.  Do hop over and check out the challenge and join the fun.  See you there........

Not Afraid...

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends, I hope you're having a great week!
Ink Stained Roni here and today I want to share another card I made for our current challenge...

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

This card was so much fun to make! Initially I sponged the background using a variety of inks from Imagine along with a sponge dauber. I then stamped the Flying Monkey background onto the panel.

I then stamped the Flying Monkey on a scrap of white cardstock and colored him using a combination of Chameleon Alcohol Markers and Colored Pencils.  He was then fussy cut and affixed to the panel.

This panel was mounted on a black card base and the computer generated sentiment was then added.

I hope you join in the challenge...
you just might be the lucky winner of some LCS/CV $'s!!

Oh Those Ruby Slippers

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Monday, it's Sue here with my 'Yellow Brick Road' project.
I must admit I'm not a big Wizard of Oz fan, I've seen it once when I was little, and I remember that those flying monkeys were really scary!
I started by making my scene with a stencil and some blending inks.
Then I stamped my Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkeys  a few times, and coloured them the same colours as in the film, - you gotta love a monkey with a blue face!
I typed up the sentiment on the computer, it's what the witch says to the monkeys as she sends them on their way!
And we're all done and stuck down in the album.

This is a sad post for me, as it's my last one for Lost Coast Designs. I've had a brilliant time here for the last 18 months, so a huge thank you to Linda and the team for putting up with me.
I hope you like my Oz piece, have a great day, and thanks very much for looking x

If I Only Had A Heart...

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with some fun for the current challenge here on the Portal:  Follow the Yellow Brick Road.  There are some great Oz themed stamps at both Lost Coast Designs and on Carmen's Veranda, which is where the stamp on my card is from.  I love the Tin Man so he is featured here
Oz Tinman along with your other favorite Oz characters.

I wanted to create a background that looked like a yellow brick road, so I took some yellow and white papers and cut them into little "brick " shapes and placed them alternately on top of a black background.  I trimmed up the edges to match my white card base and edged it with black ink.

I stamped my Tin Man with black Staz-on ink onto some silver foil card stock and cut him
out.  I punched a small red heart and attached that to his chest.

I found a great Tin Man quote on the internet and printed that out, edged it with black marker, and attached it to the upper left corner; then my Tin Man to the right side and all atop the white card base.

Such a great way to commemorate one of the favorite films of all time!  So let's see what you can make that is Oz-inspired for this current challenge, and don't forget to follow the yellow brick road!!

Tornado in the house

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a Oz inspired card for you today.

Stamp used: Oz witch

Other Supplies used:
Nuance Powers
Photo paper (glossy paper WILL NOT work)
Coffee filters
Stencil
Glitter
Craft Mat
Black ink
Black cardstock
Words from a OZ book.

So to start off you need your coffee filters spray bottle of water and your photo paper. I know we all have some laying around. Lastly you need you Nuance powers
1. Spray your coffee filter with water.
2. Sprinkle the powers on the filter.
3. Spray more water to move the colors if needed.
4.  Grab photo paper and lift coffee filter.
5. Set paper down on craft mat and set coffee filter on top.( it will take a "photo" of the coffee filter)
6. Set aside to dry.
Here are some other backgrounds I made doing this.

However you lay the filter on the paper that is how the paper will look at first. Some I keep like it some I went back and smooched the filter on the paper to cover it all.
Stamp Oz witch on white cardstock and color with Copic markers. Cut out.
When your photo is dry take a stencil and some black ink and cover you paper with it so it looks like mini tornados all over the background. Then I added some blue and sliver glitter to the circles and dots.
Then I added my witch and cut out book saying to the front. Mounted it on black card base.
Come join the OZ fun here.

Flower paper piecing

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello all Lost Coast fans. Cathy here with 2 paper piecing projects for you.
This for one I started out with a oval wood piece. I took scraps of scrapbook paper and glued them all over the wood piece. Then I edged it with black ink. Sit this aside and let it dry. As this was drying I started working on the second card.
After I cut out what I needed for the card I had so much left over so I stamped the sketchy lily on the wood piece. I used the left over scraps from the flowers I stamped for the card and cut out petals for this and edged them with black ink and glued them down.
That is now done. You could add this to a front of a card or what ever you wanted. I don't know what I shall use this for.
For this I die cut the shape out of the blue scrapbook paper and then stamped the sketchy lily on to it. Then on 5 different scrapbook papers I stamped the flower   and cut out 1 petal from each paper. 1 paper I cut 2 petals. Next I stamped the leaves on some green paper and cut out. Edged them all with blank ink and then glued it all down. I was going to just glue this to the front of the card but it looked to small there so I used my die cut of the same shape and cut it out from the front.

Then I took that blue scrapbook paper and die cut a larger of that shape and attacked it to the front of the card. Then I took the corner swirl and stamped it with some blue ink on the top and that is my card .
I hope to see you join the challenge here

Mr And Mrs Bates' 5th Anniversary

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today and I am having too much fun with the Paper Piecing challenge!  OK, maybe you can't have too much fun!!   Have you tried it??  Here's Mr and Mrs Bates, proud new owners of the wooden pitchfork.
I stamped Lost Coast Designs American Gothic Party using black archival on pale blue, pale pink and red card, then again on blue and yellow patterned card using blue dye ink.  I also stamped and embossed it on gold mirror card.  Then I cut out the bits and pieced everythin onto the pale blue background.  I cut around the inside of the gold embossed frame and framed my paper pieced picture.  I added some silver sequins to Mrs' dress and added some glossy accents to his glasses and the M on her hat.  I found a Prima patterned journal card that looked like a wooden wall and 'hung' my picture a little crookedly.
There's still time to join the Paper Piecing challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  The more players the bigger the prize!!

A Crazy Diva

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning, it's Sue here with my second paper piecing project.

I started by stamping Lost Coast's Doodle Circles onto some patterned paper. Then I stamped it a few more times onto papers and cut them out - lots and lots of 'em.

Much cutting out later....

I really liked how they looked on the background.

Then I stamped the Die Cut Diva and paper pieced her dress.

The Carmen's Veranda sentiment Be Crazy Be Stupid has been stamped onto acetate and attached with washi tape.

And we're all done - I hope you like it.
