Halloween Celebrate it

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a Halloween celebrate it card.
Of Course right.

Stamp Used: Witch2

I started out with my first ever gelli print. I did not blend it well so I'm using it today for a background.
I used a red/orange for the top and a yellow for the bottom. ( hence the scrap from Freidafest I used in day 2) Splattered Nuance powers that I made into a liquid first on the gelli plate then I pulled the print.
Next I die cut out a tree and fence from paper. Paint the fence with some gray and brown to make it look old.
Make the moon by using a mask of a circle and blending out some black ink from the center. Color in with yellow Copic and then add sparkle. You can't see it in the photo but it is there.
Next stamp Witch2 were you want here. Stamp again on white cardstock and color with Copic and cut out.  Add your cut out witch to cover right where you stamped it out on the front. Now to add your die cuts you have.
I drew on some grass on the grass part of it.

Happy Halloween

Don't forget to add your Celebrate it to the challenge here.
Can't wait to see what you share.

Stamp Z-Oscar on white cardstock 2 times. Cut out one. Glue Z-Oscar to the front of the coin. On the second one smear green ink over the eyes. (easy way to color) cut out and glue on to Z-Oscar.

Final Days of Challenge #74 On Wings She Flies

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

We're approaching the final days of the latest
Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda

Today I wanted to share a birthday card I made using a variety of mediums. The background is a gelli print I made using a feather which I swished around here and there to create the really interesting pattern. The mat was made using Nuance pigment inks and the image was colored using both alcohol ink markers and colored pencils.

The main image is the Hard Luck Pixie Rosie and the sentiment comes from the Party Words set of stamps.

If you haven't already be sure to enter this fun challenge for your chance to win!

Good Luck my friends!!

Day 14 of the 31 days of Halloween

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello all, Cathy here with day 14 of the 31 days of Halloween.
Today I have a tag to share with you.
Stamp I used: Small Skeleton
Nuance Powers
So I started off with a tag. I used my Nuance Powers and made them into watercolor on my craft mat and took my tag and dragged it through it.
Set aside to dry.
Next stamp Small Skeleton  on white cardstock and cut out. I like this stamp because he fits nicely on a tag or card.
After you are done cutting out Small Skeleton  your tag should be dry. If not hit it with the heat gun to dry it all the way.  I took a skull stencil and some black ink and randomly add some skulls to the background.
To start assembling your tag you take a apothecary label and add it to the tag. Then add your  Small Skeleton  to it.
Take a wooden spider web and color it black and add it to the bottom.
Lastly add some dyed ribbon and a charm to the top of the tag.
There you have the Skull Maggots tag for your Halloween enjoyment.
Don't forget to join us on the 31 days of Halloween Challenge for you chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.
Can't wait  to see what you all come up with.

Tornado in the house

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a Oz inspired card for you today.

Stamp used: Oz witch

Other Supplies used:
Nuance Powers
Photo paper (glossy paper WILL NOT work)
Coffee filters
Stencil
Glitter
Craft Mat
Black ink
Black cardstock
Words from a OZ book.

So to start off you need your coffee filters spray bottle of water and your photo paper. I know we all have some laying around. Lastly you need you Nuance powers
1. Spray your coffee filter with water.
2. Sprinkle the powers on the filter.
3. Spray more water to move the colors if needed.
4.  Grab photo paper and lift coffee filter.
5. Set paper down on craft mat and set coffee filter on top.( it will take a "photo" of the coffee filter)
6. Set aside to dry.
Here are some other backgrounds I made doing this.

However you lay the filter on the paper that is how the paper will look at first. Some I keep like it some I went back and smooched the filter on the paper to cover it all.
Stamp Oz witch on white cardstock and color with Copic markers. Cut out.
When your photo is dry take a stencil and some black ink and cover you paper with it so it looks like mini tornados all over the background. Then I added some blue and sliver glitter to the circles and dots.
Then I added my witch and cut out book saying to the front. Mounted it on black card base.
Come join the OZ fun here.

Bee and Butterfly

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with my things that start with B.
I started out with a paper Mache ornament and  painted it with some art alchemy dark velvet color paint. As that was drying I took a die and made the crest and leaves out of Kraft cardstock. Then I stamped the Bee from the Bugz Set  on the crest.  I thought it needed more so I stamped the Mini Crown from Mini Crowns set.  Edged the crest with some brown distress ink and set aside. Then I colored the leaves with some green distress ink. Set them aside. I did stamp Gothic Text  on the paper Mache in black ink but you can not see it.
Then you glue everything down. Last I edged the circle with a thin line of black paint.
So I have a bonus card for you. I so forgot I had this one made for the things with a B challenge so you get a bonus idea from me.
It is a CAS card. Well to be truthful. It did not start out that way. I tried using Nuance Powers and painters tape. Didn't work. The tape tore the paper. Insert mad face here. Grrrr. So I just cut the Bubble Border  out. Added it to a black card front. Then I stamped the Butterfly on the torn paper and water colored in. I did add some sparkle to the wings.
Come take up the challenge of Things that start with B.

Kitty behind the curtain

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all in blog land. Cathy here with a card for the challenge. Stamped backgrounds is what it is called. You can check out some of the backgrounds here or here for your ATCs or here for some Carmen's Verandas backgrounds.

I started off with some watercolor paper and I took my Nuance powers and made them into a watercolor and painted a "sky"  background.  I set that aside to dry and I worked on the cat image. It is  Curtain Cat from KatzelKraft. Lost Coast Designs is carrying some.

I had it already stamped out and colored on a different piece of cardstock. I had stamped a saying and I smudged the ink on it so I couldn't use it for what I wanted but I didn't want to throw the card away. We all know what I'm talking about right.

Next I cut out the curtain cat and edged it with black marker so you don't see the white edge from cutting out. Added glossy accents to eyes because they need to be glossy. Set that aside to dry and then I went back to the watercolor sky.
So I grabbed my Flying Birds background stamp and stamped it on my watercolor sky background.
Then I adhered the curtain cat to the side of the card.
The I took a circle and painted it some of the Nuance powers to make a moon and attached to the top of the card.
All put together. I hope to see your creation with stamped backgrounds.
You can join the fun here.
You can also join over on our Facebook group.

Dragon Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a fun I Am Woman card.
I started out a Copic friendly white cardstock. I stamped Mother of Dragons with black ink. This stamp makes me think of that show on that network with the Mother of Dragons.  I bet you all know the one I'm talking about. Anyway.......
I colored it in with Copic markers. Looking at it now I should have added some glossy accents to the eggs. (idea for next time)
As you can see I layered it on black cardstock.
I think doing this makes your image that you colored pop.
Next I layered it on watercolor paper I used to clean up my leftover Nuance and Distress Oxide inks.
I stamped ATC Gothic Text randomly on that watercolor card.

Then I layered it all on a gray card base and I called it done.

Clean and Simple Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a CAS card.
This was a challenge for me. It took me 4 times to get this one card. I did it though and I love how it came out.
I started out with watercolor paper.( that makes a difference with this card)
Next I used masking tape.(I did try painters tape but it didn't work for me). I masked off a strip on the front of the card. Next I took my nuance powers. I must say if you have not tried these powders you should. They are so rich in color. I just love working with them.
I mixed the powder with some water to make a watercolor. I then took the watercolor and colored in the strip that I masked off. Dried it with a heat gun. Then I added more color to get the look I wanted. Again Dried it with a heat gun. You could let it air dry but I wanted to get to the next step faster. Then I took out my silhouette man with cane stamp  and stamped on the bottom of the card. Then I called it done.
Please come and try your hand at CAS.

Day 30 of 31 Days of Halloween

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Boo! Cathy here with a altered box for Day 30 of the 31 Days of Halloween.
It started out as a box that had a pair of headphones in it.
Here is the front cover.
First I covered the whole box with black gesso. Next I painted the whole box with black paint that I mixed in some antique effect. (you can kinda see it in the next photo)
I stamped the small skeleton on white paper, tore around it and edged with brown ink. Added splashes of orange, brown and gray to skeleton. Added a rub-on. Raised it up with foam dots.  Distressed the edges of pattern paper and edged with the same brown ink. Then I added washi tape and layers of ephemera.

On the side you need to open. I added the same distressed pattern paper and edged with the same brown ink. I used the Rustic Alphabet Set. Stamped out OPEN and cut out and inked the sides with brown ink.
On the other side I used the same paper and distressed it the same way and I took the Small Skeleton and just stamped the head 8 times and cut out and added it down the side.
Back cover. Same paper, same distress. Added a large piece of  ephemera to the middle. I then stamped Flying Skull 3 times on white paper. Colored the skull with a cream colored marker and cut out. Glued in place.
Inside.
I took some pattern paper and did the left side of the box. Edged with brown ink. For my scene inside the box I took a sheet of watercolor paper and cut it to fit in the inside of the box. I made the sky background using Nuance Powers. Once that was dry I took a stencil and added some stars with white ink. Next I stamped the Small Skeleton 2 times on scrap white paper. Fussy cut out one. Covered edge with black marker. glued him to back. Next I did some die cutting and made the grave yard scene.
Last I fussy cut the hand and part of the arm and stuck it coming out of a grave.
Done.
