Winged girl for the Myth and Magic challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, LCD fans.
Today I want to show you my last contribution for this month.

It is for the Myth and Magic challenge.
Well I think this winged girl is very magical.
And here is a description of how I made her.

Watercolor paper 14cm x 20 cm,

Stazon timber brown, Distress ink, antique linen, seedless preserves, spiced marmalade, peacock feathers, broken china. Prima marketing vintage pastels watercolor paint. Distress glaze. Black cardstock.
A mask or stencil.
Nuvo aqua shimmer.

I started stamping the winged girl with stazon timber brown. Then with a finger with distress glaze around the stamp, only the outside edge. Then colored the winged girl with the watercolor paint. When it was completely dry I applied the entire stamp with a layer of distress glaze. I sponged the border around the stamp with Distress ink antique linen. Then placed the mask or stencil on the paper and go over it with a sponge with distress glaze. Then you take the 4 distress ink colors and rub some of them on your craft sheet. Spray a little bit of water on it and put your paper on it. You don't have to worry about your image, the distress glaze works as a resist. Let it dry well and matte with black cardboard.

Give the wings, dress and hairband a little bit off aqua shimmer. Have fun and join our challenge at

Wish you were HERE!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello friends!

I hope you're doing well this fine day. I'm here to share a card for the Myth and Magic Challenge! This is a great challenge because Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda have so many fun stamps that will work with this theme.

I couldn't resist making another fun gnome card using some of the wonderful new little fellows!

I stamped the little guys (Two Gnomes) on Bristol smooth cardstock with Imagine's VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. You can use other cardstock with these markers but the colors come out looking best on Bristol IMO.  These little guys and were popped onto a card using Bohemian Bazaar papers by Graphic 45. (I'm on a use what I have kick).

Aren't they just the cutest? I love all of the fun new images in the Gnome line.

Hope you have a love day my friends...

Ink Stained Roni :)

Myth and Magic, cyclops.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. What an exciting challenge, myth and magic! Well I think it is a great subject. That is why I used my cyclops stamp. I made it a bit of a dark card. And this is how I made it.

Materials I used:
Disterss Oxide, Lucky clover and Fossilized amber.
Distressink, Black soot.
Stazon, timber brown.
White gellpen.

On a craftsheet you make a few swipes with the two colors Disteress oxide and a small spray of water. Pick up the ink stains with your card. Let it dry well, and repeat if necessary.
And dry well again. Stamp the cyclops with Stazon Timber brown. Color it in, you may know yourself with what, I used inktense pencils. I made the card darker with distress Black soot. Work inwards from the corners. This way you get a light behind the cyclops. I carefully dripped the Distress black soot with some water. Finally, with a white gell pen, give the cyclops accents. Have fun with it, and don't forget to participate in our challenge. You can win new stamps, who wouldn't want that?

Myth and Magic: Aud Chicken

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello from Laurie with a project for this current challenge:  Myth and Magic.  So much you can do with this theme, so I hope you are joining in and sharing your projects on the Portal for a chance to win some free stamps!

This card uses the AUD Chicken stamp and a bit of script from one of the stamps in the ATC Miscellaneous #6 Set, both from Lost Coast Designs.   There are four new AUD animal stamps on the New Stamps page at LCD so be sure to check them out.

My background is a page from a vintage book.  I used two different stencils - one on the right side of the page and the other on the left side.  I stenciled with green and brown Distress Inks and then added some random stenciling in black.  I finished the background off by randomly stamping some script from one of the ATC stamps mentioned above.  I edged my background with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I stamped my AUD Chicken with black ink onto a scrap of scrapbook paper and tore two of the edges.  I edged it with the same Distress Ink and mounted it to a piece of handmade paper.
This was then mounted to my background page and a decorative brad was attached in the lower right corner.

The final step was to attach this to a torn edged piece of handmade paper.

So come join us here at the Portal between now and the end of March for this fun and "mythical, magical" challenge!

They Will Never Take Our Freedom.... Hagis McGnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!!  Happy birthday to me!!!!!!
Gail here and today's my birthday, so what better way to celebrate than share some art with my friends.  I've used Lost Coast Designs Viking Gnome, although he really made me think of Scotland!!!, Lost Coast Designs Crackle and Fruit Pods Backgrounds and this oh so cool, oh so wonderful sentiment from Carmen's Veranda.....

I started with a blue panel and stamped Crackle Background with Sky Blue archival ink.  I stamped Fruit Pods Background using Prickly Pear archival on green card.   I cut along part of the design to use as a grassy hill.  I stamped the sentiment and embossed with black powder.  The Gnome was stamped, coloured with distress markers, fussy cut and added to the scene.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have an awesome day.

Don't forget to join the Myth and Magic challenge for your chance to win!!

Stargazer Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Cathy here with a fun card to make.
Stamps used:
Profile Gnome
Door and window set

Okay I have to spill the beans with this card. I didn't start out to make this card. I was trying to make my card for the start of the challenge. See card below.
I tried embossing the dragon with gold and it just didn't look good so a tossed it.
So I made this one and it got me thinking I still could use parts from my messed up one so I tore the sides from piece and started with my stargazer gnome card.
I colored the Profile Gnome with Copic markers cut out and set aside(to be honest I had him done when I first got the gnomes. I just had to color them all)

So I just taped the ends that I saved from my first project to the ends of a white card front.
Next I took some paste and put it through a star stencil. I then added 3 different colors of Distress Glaze to the top. Set aside to let the paste dry when it was dry I embossed the glaze and you get what it looks like in the photo.
Added the Profile Gnome to the middle and there is my card.
There is still the sale going on at Lost Coast and Carmen's Verenda.  25% off
Also you can join the fun here.

Raven Queen Magic

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone,
I am honored and thrilled to be asked to join Lost Coast Designs
as a Guest Designer this month.

This month the theme is
"Myth and Magic"

My card uses Raven Queen to add the magical
inspiration for this challenge.

This is how this card was made ...

To begin with the Raven Queen has been stamped twice.
The head dress was cut out from one of these.
The other image was covered with masking fluid
so that an inked background could be added.
What a stunning image Raven Queen is!

Once the masking fluid was completely dry Distress Inks were blended over the background. .
A stencil was then spritzed with water and some placed onto the ink.
After you blot this you are left with a lovely ghosting impression
from the stencil.
Another layer of stenciling was added by blending
a darker blue ink through the stencil.

A little background stamping was added using
ATC Grunge Set and Long Swirl.
This was used to create a border around the card.

Raven Queen, and the head dress, were coloured with water colours
and pencils. To add a little extra femininity there have been beads of
liquid pearls placed on the head dress and around the outside of the image.

To finish the card, part of the words from Carmen's Veranda
"Never Too Late" were added.
These were stamped and embossed in white on black card.
Some shading around the edges was added to bring it all together.
Then it was matted and layered onto cardstock.

The Myth and Magic Challenge is underway
through this blog or through the
Lost Coast Designs Official Group on facebook.

A huge thank you to LCD for having me along this month.
I hope that you join in the challenge.
I enjoyed playing with this stamp, she is gorgeous!

Spring has Sprung, Happy Easter

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, its Riet today. Are you also crazy about Easter? I love it. Making the house cozy and making nice cards for family and friends. So this is my Easter card.
I used Lost Coast Designs Bubbles background.
and Katzelkraft bird which are also for sale at Lost Coast Designs

I made a background with Mustard Seed, Mermaid Lagoon, Abandoned Coral and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide. Made the border around the card with a black posca marker. After that I made the black grids with a stencil and the black posca marker and added some lines with a white posca pen.
The egg is heat embossed with a fine black embossing powder.
Now the fun part starts. I colored with all the distress colors I used for the background.
It takes some practice, but I love the result. I treated it like watercolor paint. Stamped the bird on a piece off watercolor paper, and colored it with Distress Oxide.

I hope you enjoyed it, until next time.
And don't forget to join the challenge.

Spring Has Sprung: Day 12: Bunny and Flower and Bonus Project

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Happy Spring again from Laurie, and I hope you are all posting your spring makes on the Portal.  And I hope wherever you are, there is spring weather.

I made a card for this challenge using the Sketchy Lily from Lost Coast Designs and the bunny from the Duck and Bunny Set at Carmen's Veranda.  What shouts spring more than flowers and bunnies???

I started with a piece of corrugated cardboard that I tore off of a shipping box.  I peeled the top layer of paper off the cardboard to expose the ridged layer below.  I lightly painted the ridges with Gesso and let that dry well.

Next I took a sheet of scrap book paper and tore one edge of it to use as my background.  I went around all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink then stamped the flower directly onto my paper.
I then re-stamped it onto blue paper, cut out just the flower part, and glued that atop the stamped flower.

Next I stamped my bunny onto some cream slightly patterned scrapbook paper with black ink and cut him out.  I added just a little light blue color to his eyes and affixed him next to the flower - I wanted it to look like he was smelling the sweet flower!  I added some word stickers above the rabbit.

Final touch was to glue some vintage lace along the top edge and tie a piece of twine around the lace to help hold it in place.

We are excited to see what fun spring themed projects you can cook up in your craft room, so be sure to post them today to enter the challenge!

Bonus Project!

I created this little bookmark using the sweet PixikinHLP stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  My green background is a piece of a larger Gelli print that I made awhile ago with light green and some yellow paints.  I stamped the baby Pixi with black StayzOn ink directly onto my background paper and colored a bit with green Copic markers to darken up the leaves and vine.  I then re stamped the Pixi on the same piece of my Gelli print, cut out just the little swaddled Pixi and glued that atop my original stamped image.
I then stamped the tiny face onto white card stock, added some color with Copic markers, and attached it directly over the face on my previously stamped image.

I finished it off by attaching it to a piece of yellow card stock that I rounded the corners of and then machine stitched around the edges.  I punched a hole in the top and added some decorative green fiber and just like that, it's a book mark!!

Springtime Gnome Fun

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Did you know that gnomes love flowers? They do enjoy a nice frolic in the fresh spring flowers....such a nice diversion after staying hunkered down all winter long.

Such a fun way to share a bit of Spring time joy with a friend.

I started off by applying various shades of blue and green alcohol ink to a piece of Craft Plastic cut down to card size.

I then stamped several Sketchy Cone Flowers, a Butterfly and my Pointy Hat Gnome friend on white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink which was then colored with KingArt dual tip markers.

Then came the layering of the flowers...some affixed directly to the panel others adhered with foam tape and finished up with the little butterfly.

Added the panel to a teal card base and with a few kind words this card is ready to be popped into the mail to a friend!
