Tags: Keep Calm and Sparkle

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

What a fun "Tag"challenge this is proving to be already!  It's Laurie here again, and I have a cute owl-y tag for you featuring one of the cute little owls from the Katzelkraft Owl Set from Lost Coast Designs and the Keep Calm clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

I stamped my little lady owl with black ink onto white card stock and fussy cut her out.  She was colored with Copic Sketch markers.  The base for my card is a piece of tissue paper that was printed on my Gel pad using shades of pastel paints and some stencils.  I layered this over a piece of text and attached the two layers to my tag base.  The edges were dabbed with pink Oxide Distress Ink.

The owl was then attached with foam tape.  I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto a white scrap.  The corners were snipped off and the edges dabbed with the same pink Oxide Distress Ink.  I added some sparkle with a glitter gel pen and attached the sentiment above the owl as shown.  Final touch is a sparkly pink ribbon at the top.

We are looking forward to seeing your terrific tag makes.  Be sure to feature some rubber stamping on your tags for a chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

31 Days of Halloween Day 19 - Boo to You

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie and happy to be back with you during this month long 31 Days of Halloween celebration.
The second half of the month we are adding a twist to our Halloween theme - pets.  So your projects are still in the Halloween mode but with the added element of pets - and the kind of pet is up to you!

For this project I used the  Coffee Chihuahua stamp from Lost Coast Designs, the  Grunge Black Swirl from Carmen's Veranda, and the Large Chicken Wire background stamp from Lost Coast.
My background was created with a Gelli plate and some thick orange paint and a circle stencil.  I stamped atop it with the Grunge Black Swirl stamp, using orange ink, then added some of the Chicken Wire stamp here and there with black ink.  I cut this into a square shape and layered it with black card stock.

I next stamped my Chihuahua onto kraft paper with black ink and cut him out.  He is holding a coffee cut, but I cut that out so he could be holding the "Boo" sign.  I restamped his eyes onto white paper, cut those out, and affixed them atop the original stamped image.  I colored his little pointy teeth with a white marker and gave the studs on his collar a bit of gold marker.  I then cut out some dragon wings and attached those to his back.  Then he gets placed right in the middle of my card front.

I love this Chihuahua stamp because it's such fun to figure out what you can have him holding.  Last year I made a Halloween card, and he was holding a pumpkin.  It will be fun to figure out next year what's in his tiny little grip!

So come join the fun at the Portal and show us your creepy crawly Halloween projects for a chance to win some free stamps!

31 Days of Halloween Day 18: Cats and Bats

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another card that fits both the Pets Challenge and our 31 Days of Halloween celebration which both run til the end of the month.  This one uses the Striped Cat stamp from Lost Coast Designs, one of a great assortment of Katzelkraft stamps available for order.

I had a lot of fun making the background for this one.  I started with a piece of plain card stock cut to approximately 5 X 7 inches.  I then went through my stash of Halloween papers and selected some that I thought worked well together.  I spent some time deciding on placement and sizing and finally came up with this configuration.  I tacked them to my card stock base and then using black thread and a zig zag stitch, I stitched around each of the blocks of paper.  I finished it off by edging the whole piece with black ink.
Next I stamped my Striped Cat with black ink onto orange card stock and fussy cut him out.  I restamped his eyes onto white paper and cut those out, superimposing them atop the original stamped image.  He has one little pointy fang which I colored white and then I added another fang on the other side of his mouth to give him that "vampire-ish" look.

I attached my kitty with foam tape to the card front.  I then die cut a couple of bats from black card stock and positioned them as shown adding a bit of white marker for the eyes.  Final step was to glue some black spider sequins marching along the bottom of the card.

I hope you are joining us all month for this fun 31 Days of Halloween celebration.  The Design Team is having a blast making lots of Halloween projects to inspire you!!

Make It Funny: Trio of Penquins

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with a series of three tags for the
Make It Funny Challenge.
I used Katzelkraft's Grumpy Penguins Stamp Set, which is available from Lost Coast Designs, and three of Carmen's Veranda Clear Stamps.  There is a great selection of sentiments so be sure to check all four pages!

I used the same background for each of my tags.  It is a Gelli print I made using blue and green acrylic paints.  I then stenciled my tags with Distress Oxide Ink in Abandoned Coral and white paint, using a different stencil for each tag. I added a bit of black random stamping for some contrast.

Next I stamped my penguins onto white card stock with black ink and fussy cut them.  I colored their beaks orange and added some Glossy Accents to the beaks and eyes.  I placed each penguin on the lower portion of the tag to give me room at the top for my stamped sentiment.  I added a hat to each and used some foam tape to give then some dimension.  The hats can be found at Vertical Party Hats at Lost Coast Designs.  I simply stamped three different hats and cut them out, only adding a couple of little flowers to Mrs. Penguin's hat.

Sentiments were stamped with black ink onto white card stock, cut out, and edged with black ink.  All sentiments were also attached with foam tape.   For the final step I added some ribbon and various colored fibers to each tag.

This is such a fun challenge so we hope you will join us and show us your Fun and "Funny" stamped projects!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 24

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie as we are closing in on Halloween and the last week of the Lost Coast Designs 31 Days Of Halloween Challenge.  Hope you are having as much fun with this as we are.

I've made another card for this day featuring a Halloween theme with a cat stamp as my focal point.  I used the Striped Cat stamp from Katzelkraft which are available in the Lost Coast Designs shop.  I stamped this guy onto a paper that I had used yellow and orange Distress inks on.  I stamped with black Staz On ink then cut out my cat.  I restamped his eyes onto white paper and cut them out and glued them over the original image and added some shine to them with Glossy Accents.
For my background I took a piece of orange striped scrapbook paper and, using shades of red and orange Distress Inks, stenciled a checkerboard pattern onto my paper.  I then took another stencil with randomly sized and spaced dots and used black ink  to stencil those dots randomly over the surface.

I used a spider stencil to add a couple of creepy crawlies to the corners.  I glued my cat into the center and gave him a little witch's hat.   I die cut the word "eek" and glued that to the upper left corner.
Final steps were edging the card front with black ink and mounting it to a white layer.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 18

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

More Halloween holiday greetings to you all from Laurie!  Our Lost Coast Designs Halloween Blog Hop continues but we've added a twist to the last two weeks - Halloween themed projects featuring cats and dogs.  It's pretty easy to turn any cat or dog into a Halloween pet, and you can see how I've done that for this card,

I used the Coffee Chihuahua stamp for this project and stamped him onto some light brown paper with black ink.  I restamped his head onto white paper so I could cut our his eyes and affix them atop the brown figure.  I added a bit of white Gel pen to his teeth and some gold pen to the studs in his collar.  I then cut him out.  The stamp has him holding a cup of coffee, so I cut that away and replaced it with a pumpkin sticker.

My background is a piece of Tim Holtz Halloween paper that I stenciled with a spooky branches stencil.  After my background was stenciled, I edged it in black ink and affixed my Chihuahua as shown. I die cut a bat and the word "boo" out of black paper and added those, then layered the finished project with white.

We would love to see your Halloween projects featuring cats and dogs, so please be sure to enter them for a chance to win some free stamps!

Meet Trevor

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and happy Thursday, it's Sue here and I'd like to introduce you to Trevor and his brothers.
Now Trevor insists that I point out that he is the star of my piece, and the whole reason for the Mini Me challenge - his brothers wouldn't agree!

I started by cutting 3 ATC's from some left over pieces that I'd used to clean off my brayer. These are sometimes my favourite pieces.

Then I stamped, coloured, and cut out the Katzelkraft Umbrella Cat and two of the cats from Lost Coast More Cats.

I gave Trevor a typed up sentiment 'cos he likes to feel special - his mother always said that he was special!

And there we are - definitely smaller than a card! I hope you like my ATC's and thanks very much for looking x

Bookmarks

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. Cathy Here.
Well today I have made some bookmarks for your viewing pleasure.  I have made 3 in total for Lost Coast Designs new challenge MINI ME - smaller than a card. Well mine are longer than a card, but definitely smaller, so they still count...
To start out I did the backgrounds all the same. The first two I used Distress inks and the smooching technique. The last one I used Distress Oxide inks and the smooching technique.

The one above I used pinks and oranges colors in inks on white cardstock. Then I stamped Katzelkraft Monsters all over the edges of the bookmark. Next I stamped the saying from Carmen's Veranda Currently Unsupervised, cut it down to just 2 words, and glued it to the bookmark. When that was done I backed it with some black cardstock. I did that to all 3 of my bookmarks. Then I laminated them.

So for this on I used blues and greens of the inks. Next I stamped a small butterfly from the Bugz set. I felt it still needed more so I grabbed my number border stamp and stamped that randomly on it.

Last one!  This time I used the Distress Oxide inks. For this one I used another Katzelkraft stamp that Lost Coast Designs is selling. It is called Hanging Branch Cat. I stamped it at the top of the bookmark. Next I stamped the tree crown on the top of the bookmark to it looks like trees and leaves.  Then I grabbed a saying sticker and added to the bottom. Lastly I added some stars with a stencil and regular distress ink.

Come join Challenge #54 Mini Me
