A Meaningful Lie Detector

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today with some seriously funny inspiration for the Make It Funny Challenge.
I used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background with prickly pear distress ink.  The jury is out on whether the stamp or the ink pad is slightly contaminated with lingering autumn shades LOL.  Then I stamped Lost Coast Designs Face With Feathers and the Carmen's Veranda sentiment with black archival ink.  I tried colouring directly onto the panel with my gel pens, but it wasn't working, so I stamped the face on white card, coloured, fussy cut the bits and glued them in place.
Carmen's Veranda have so many funny, profound and meaningful sentiments do hop over and check them out.  New ones added regularly to the top of the page.
You have all month to share your funny stamped anythings. Please read the updated rules before entering. Real rubber or clear stamping and theme must be the focus of your project for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$'s.   We need at least 20 entries to award the prize.
Thanks for dropping by and don't forget to check out all the other lovely makes from the team.

31 Days of Halloween Day 5 - Goat Skull on Autumn Leaves

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!!   Gail here today for the 5th day of our 31 Days of Halloween Celebration.
Don't you just love Spooktober!!!   It is surely the most wonderful time of the year (part 1).
Today I have been playing with alcohol inks and Lost Coast Designs Large Goat Skull
I made the background using drops of pink, green and yellow alcohol ink on a felt pad and dabbing it all over my glossy card.  Then I stamped Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background using orange and pink inks.  I stamped the Goat Skull on white card with black archival ink, fussy cut and added it to the card.  I coloured the flower with purple distress ink and finally stamped part of Carmen's Veranda Witches Go Riding sentiment.
Link up your Halloween inspired projects.  Anything related to the season, spooky, fruity, fun, scary or cute.  Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project.  A small stamped sentiment in a sea of die cuts or digi images will not qualify to win the prize and you may be deleted or fed to the giant pumpkin!!!!  Bwahahhaaahaha.

Autumn Moon

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!!   Gail here today with a tag featuring a twinchie and a domino for the Inchie Twinchie Domino Challenge.  Have you got you makes linked up yet???   We really would love to see your ideas.  The team has ben having a blast with this theme.

I made a tag using Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background, Moon and Travel Quotes.

I started by cutting a tag from Bazzill Lima Bean card and stamped Lost Coast Designs Leaves using Hero Arts green ombre ink pad.

I stamped the moon and the sentiment of some yellow patterned card and applied some distress marker colour.  The Moon panel is a twinchie (2" x 2") and the sentiment panel is a domino (2" x 1")
For September we want to see your stamped makes featuring Inchies (1" x 1"), Twinchies (2" x 2"), and/or Dominos (2" x 1")  You can make said Inchies, Twinchies or Dominos with real rubber or clear stamping, or you can incorporate these sizes into your project in another way, perhaps chop up your background, or your foreground, cut windows, or maybe make a three dimensional shape, or a tiny album.
The team is sharing awesome projects all month so do scroll down and pop back to check out all the amazing inspiration.
Thanks for dropping by.

Challenge #182 - For the Men - Green Man

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today I have a card that I hope will help usher in Spring without too much more of that white stuff...Green Man.

To create this card I started off by stamping the Leaves background image on the card using multiple colors of greens and browns. I then stamped the "Green Man" from the Victoriana set in a darker green. I then used some text from the Pieces of Calligraphy one or two images from Pieces of Architecture and dots from the Brush Strokes.  I then die-cut the Oak Leaf branches from Honey Bee Stamps to frame him.

There is still time to join in on the fun...

Autumn Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today.  The weather here in Norway has certainly changed the last few days.  Warm dry days became wet and now a cold wind is blowing away summer and bringing in autumn.  I decided to use the lovely oranges and browns of fall for my Things With Wings project today along with one of the new mini collage stamps Linda recently added to the shop.

Love these mini collage stamps.  They take all the work out of getting a lovely layered look to your stamping.  This one is called Mini Bug collage and I decided my bug was a bee.

I started by making my background using Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background.  I stamped it first with yellow, then orange and finally red archival ink to layer up my colours and add some warmth and depth.  Then I stamped the frilly edge of the Bug Collage stamp so I didn't have to fussy cut it LOL.
I stamped the Mini Bug collage in brown ink and then inked the bee again with black and overstamped for a bit more definition.  I added a little yellow and some glitter glue to the wings and fussy cut.
I stamped Carmen's Veranda Queen of Everything on a scrap of the grid card I was using and put all the layers together, adding a scrap of red card to the top and left hand side of each panel.
I hope you have time to grab some winged thing stamps and join the challenge.  Linky closes end of the month.  Don't forget to check out all the awesome inspiration from the team here on the blog.
Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Free Bad Advice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today with some Free Bad Advice.
Ask me anything!  Bwahahhaaahhaaaa.

I've used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background and Carmen's Veranda Bad Advice sentiment.

I inked the edges of the Leaves stamp with Monarch Orange and Carnation archival ink, leaving a space in the middle uninked.  Then I reinked the whole stamp with Dandelion archival and restamped to fill in all the gaps.  A stamp positioner is kinda a must for this technique.

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum with black archival ink and when it was dry I added a little glue behind the big letters and positioned it on my card.  Then I punched some holes and added some copper leaf brads.

You need to include at least 5 words on your stamped anything for a chance to win.
Thanks for visiting.  Hugz

Cookie Day

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today with a simple card for the Sentimentally Yours challenge.
I used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background and Creepy Heart Doll with the wonderful Carmen's Veranda Eat A Cookie sentiment.

I started by stamping the Leaves Background stamp on a pale blue base card with Sky Blue archival ink.  I was going to fold the card base and be done, but then I stamped the sentiment on the wrong end!!!!  Ah well, plan B.........

I cut the leaf panel with a wonky stitch die and stamped the sentiment and Creepy Heart Doll with black archival.  I coloured the doll with distress markers, adding a little blue shadow around her, and mounted the panel on a buff card base.

Join the challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast Design dollars.  See you there.....

Coffee with Dali

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today.
Thanks to everyone who enter out Ladies Night challenge.  We really appreciate your support.
For the last part of the month we are going to turn our sights to the men.
Link up your stamped masculine makes for a chance to win.  The team are busy filling the blog with fabulous inspiration and here's my take on The Man Cave challenge...
I've used Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background and Travel Quotes and
Carmen's Veranda Salvador Dali stamp.

I stamped Salvador Dali on a scrap of kraft card with black archival ink, masked and stamped the leaves background with carnation archival.
I cut using Stamplorations cup die and added some white gel pen highlights.  I used a red Promarker to edge the die cut, and later I also went round with a black Promarker.

I stamped the leaves background with dandelion archival on glossy white card, just cos it was the first piece of white I found, and sometimes you gotta try these things......

I left a white border when I cut the panel and edged with yellow and orange Promarker.  I used the cup die and cut some black craft foam to give the cup a bit more dimension.  I used the TRAVEL and WANDERLUST stamps from the travel quotes set and brown archival and stamped them randomly around the background.  Then I stamped the sentiment, also from the travel quotes set and added it to the card.

'Try everything once, then try it again somewhere else'

Thanks for visiting.  Don't forget to link up your masculine makes for a chance to win.

Through the Keyhole

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here today with a peek through the Keyhole at Weeping Man.
Hmmmmm, seems that he spotted us!!
Since the current challenge theme is Wood I decided to stamp Carmen's Veranda Keyhole on woodgrain paper and emboss with gold powder.  I added some more colour using Promarkers and then I cut the center out of the keyhole.
I stamped Lost Coast Designs Weeping Man on white card with brown archival ink
and watercoloured with Brusho's.
Green hair??  Maybe that's what he's crying about??
I masked Weeping Man and stamped Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background.
I placed the Weeping Man panel behind the Keyhole panel and mounted it all on a dark brown base card.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 5

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here again with some Halloween inspiration for our 31 Days of Halloween challenge.  I decided to play with Lost Coast Designs wickedly wonderful Evil Eye
Ooooh, wouldn't want to meet him on a dark night!!
I started with one of my shaving foam backgrounds I made the other day.  This is one of the last ones I made when the colours had all blurred together, but I thought it was good autumn colours.
Then I stamped with Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background with tangerine chalk ink.  Isn't that gorgeous!!  I once bought some handmade paper that had skeleton leaves embedded in it, called Buddha paper, but now I can stamp my own!!  So cool.
I added some red splats to the background using diluted acrylic paint.  I stamped Evil Eye on a piece of white card, embossed with black powder and fussy cut him.  I coloured with Promarkers and gel pens and added him to the panel.

Thanks for visiting.  Don't forget to check the post below for our September winners.  It could be you!  But only if you entered the challenge!!

Making a Classical Card with an Embellished Background

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, my name is Ginny Maxam and I am a new DT member for Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!  Today's post is my first for my new team, I am excited to be working with this wonderful and talented team using the awesome images from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

This Weeks challenge is Stamped Background.  A great challenge with lots of possibilities.
Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have some very unique and arty designs, nothing run of the mill here.  Artsy, yes. Weird, yes, Classical, yes. Like any company, you will find images you like and images you don't, but that is what is so fun about stamping, you make the art uniquely yours to suit your purpose.

My Stamped Background inspiration card:
I made this card using the

Stamping on a bright white cardstock using  Memento ink
and

 Classic Women

On my background, I used a little Nuvo foil flakes

Mirror board and a feather for a little panache`

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enter the Stamped Background challenge!
If you don't enter, you can't win!
