Hat Trick

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here again with some more hatty ideas with my favourite Carmen's Veranda boys!!

Frank said he didn't have a hat so Charlie lent him one!  Not sure it suits him, but there we go.  I am also entirely responsible for the wiggle in the sentiment cos I decided the easiest way to convert it from square 8 lines to long 3 lines was to chop it up!  So I did!!  So it's a little wiggly in places, but perfection is overrated........

I used a slightly grungy off white Authentique card base.  I stamped the re-arranged sentiment and masked it off.  Then I stamped Charlie and Frank with brown archival ink, masked them and stamped Boris.  I edged the card with brown Promarker and also drew a line under the boys.  Then I used a caramel Promarker to fill in the background around them.  Finally I stamped Charlie's hat on a scrap of the same card using the brown archival ink, fussy cut and stuck it on Franks head.

Grab your stamps and your hats and join the fun for a chance to win.

Due to the mass cancellation of stamp/scrapbook shows Linda is running an online virtual convention.   Use coupon code QUARANTINE to get 25% off any purchase of Lost Coast Designs or Carmen's Veranda stamps.  Katzelkraft stamps, stamp accessories and Stencil Girl stencils are not included in the sale.

Spooktacular Frank

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today with grumpy Frank.  He was complaining that I hadn't got him out of the box for Halloween so I said he could have pride of place today!
Our new challenge is Spooktacular Florals, so Day of the Dead and/or Floral and/or Spooky anythings work, but please remember the theme and real handstamping, rubber or clear,
must be the focus of your project.
I've gone spooky CAS, although I do think Frank is too cute to spook!!
I used some dark green leather effect card for my card base.  Carmen Veranda's Frankenstein was stamped and black powder embossed on white card, smeared with Cracked Pistachio distress ink and spritzed with water.  When he was dry I used a little orange and green gel pen on his bolts and eyes.  For the extra scary effect I used Lost Coast Designs License Plate Alphabet, stamped B O O on orange card and embossed with Zing Lime Green opaque powder.
You have until the November 14th to link up your Spooktacular Florals projects.  Remember you must use the theme and hand stamping on your anythings.   See you there.......

Mr. Punkinstein

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. Cathy here with a slimline card for you today.
Stamps used:
I started out with Tim Holtz wallpaper for Halloween. I stamped Pieces of Calligraphy  randomly over the paper.
Next I stamped Pumpkin  on white cardstock. I then stamped Frankenstein  on tissue paper. Cut Frank apart and collaged him onto the pumpkin. When that was dry I colored it with Copic markers and cut out.
Then I took one of Tim Holtz Halloween paper dolls and colored it with Pitt pens. They work great coloring on a coated surface. I then added the pumpkin head to cover the head of the paper doll.
Mr. Punkinstein was born.
Add some bits and pieces to make the card complete.
I hope you join the fun challenge here.

The 25% OFF sale is still going on. Go check it out.

Frank and Maureen's Big Day Remembered

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here.  The team is having a real blast with the current challenge theme of Celebrate It!!  If you can make a party out of it then we want to see your makes.  Don't forget we need to see real rubber or clear stamping and the theme as the focus of your project for it to have a chance to win the wonderful Lost Coast dollars.

Today I made a Happy Anniversary card for Frank and Maureen
There they are on the happy day.  Frank looking particularly dashing in his new Crushed Olive jacket with Pine Needles trousers.  Maureen had taken fashion consultant Igor's advice and gone with a Wilted Violet hair wash to match the Shaded Lilac dress.  Frank though Igor the photographer hadn't quite centered the subjects, but Igor the cardmaker said hang it all a bit squiffy and no one will notice.  So we did!  What a day!!

The Door stamped with London Fog memento ink and coloured with distress inks.
American Gothic Party stamped on gold mirror card, embossed with black powder and then cut inside the frame.
I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Frank and Bride of Frank and stamped the words from Misc. Words on gold mirror card, embossed with black powder and cut with a stitch die.

20 Past Frank and Other Stories + A Giveaway

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today.  It's been too long since I had a date with Frank so I decided to make myself a pendant for the big day.  I got a bit carried away, but, as you know, good things come in threes......
Meet the Franks.......

I cut a piece of shrink plastic with a Sizzix die and stamped Frank with black archival.
I masked Frank and stamped Carmen's Veranda Dice Background with Mowed Lawn distress ink.
I coloured Frank with Shabby Shutters distress ink and used my heat gun to shrink him.  Here's a sort of before and after photo.  My circles went from 8.5cm to 3cm.  I liked it so much I decided to make a couple more.
For this one I used Brunhilda's shield and Colourbox Irish ink for the background stamping.
I used the PMC Circle Frame stamp here.  Didn't get a perfect impression, but remember, when you shrink the colours intensify, so I thought I'd go with it.
So here's my three shrunken Franks.  I found a selection of metal findings that I get from a company here in Norway called Korthobby.  The flower at the bottom comes shaped so I ran it through my Bigshot to flatten it out.  It looks nicer with curves, but thought it would be easier to stick everything together if everything was flat.
Calling this one Flower Frank.
This ring made me think Emperor Frank
Calling this one 20 Past Frank.  Incidently, I used water when I coloured this one with the shabby shutters distress ink.  The other two I applied the ink with a sponge and no water.  The water is a bit more tricky with the whole shrink plastic thing, but you get a brighter shade of green.
Thanks for dropping by.
https://lostcoastportaltocreativity.blogspot.com/2019/03/challenge-72-round-and-round.html
You have until the end of the month to link up your stamped Round and Round makes, or your stamped makes featuring round things for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Remember, the more players the bigger the prize........
And we are also sponsoring the Penny Black and More Challenge this month where they want to see Circles so link up there as well for another chance to win.....

For a chance to win one of these three pendants (chain not included) leave me a comment on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity blog telling me which Frank you like the best, and one on the facebook fan group post to say you did that, and I will pick one lucky person and announce the winner on the 5th April.

Monstrously Adorable

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with my first offering for the year and it's a monster!!  Well, actually it's two monsters, but they are just too cute!!!!  Have you seen the new Lost Coast Designs Creepy Dolls??  The team is in total agreement that mostly they aren't really creepy at all, but adorbs!!  Some were released in the autumn and then there was another batch just in time for Christmas.   Here's Frank and his best bud Werewolf outside Wolfy's Ancestral Home.
Adorable!!
I started with a panel of white card and the blue smudgy pattern is transfer from a stencil I had used on another project.  Waste ink not!  I cut the panel with a Stitch Rectangle die which I inked with Black Soot distress ink before cutting the panel.  This gave that nice wiggly frame.  Then I stamped the door from Lost Coast Designs Door and Window set using Memento London Fog ink for a subtle effect.
Did I say Squuueeeee!! yet??  Love these dudes.  I stamped Frank and Werewold on white card with black Archival ink and fussy cut.  Werewolf was coloured with Promarkers and Frank with distress inks and gel pens.   Don't worry about the arm!!  Frank is really good at needlework!!!
I stamped and embossed the Carmen's Veranda Best Friends sentiment and added my little monsters, aranging the loose hand so it looked like Werewolf has really long arms when he puts his arm around your shoulders!!  Then I decided the proportions of the card were all wrong!!
I chopped off the sentiment, recut the top of the card doing the inked border thing again.  I cut out the sentiment and added it back in for a more bijou and cosy look.

Day 4 of the 31 days of Halloween

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. Cathy here with day 4 of the 31 days of Halloween.
Stamps Used: Frankenstein head
                       ATC Gothic text

First I took the tag and added some Distress inks to the background. To make it look old and grungy. Then I flicked some water on it to give it some spots. Set aside to dry.

Then I stamped Frankenstein head on a scrap of white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers. Cut out. Set aside to add on later.
Next take stencil and some orange ink and add it randomly all over the tag.  Then take  ATC Gothic text  and stamp that randomly all over the tag.  Add some scrap paper and some bat buttons and don't forget the wooden BOO! inked in that same orange ink.
Then add Frank to the bottom of tag and add word sticker. Lastly add some ribbon to the top. I dyed it with some Distress stains to match (work with) the orange and browns in the tag. There you have a tag.
I hope to see all you great makes for the Halloween season.
