Colorful pokey mouse, for the animal challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hi, Riet here with a easy tutorial  this time.

Today a card with the pokey mouse stamp.
It is such a funny mouse.
The background is made with Nuvo shimmer powder.
This powder has a lovely shimmer.

I stamped with distress oxide weathered wood and the LCD ledger stamp the background.

Stamp the mouse on a piece of paper and color it.
Cut it out and gleu on the card.

With a black ink I stamped the long swirl on the edges of the card.
And do the same with the badass stamp.
Glue it on a purple and black cardstock.

Join us on de Lost Coast Designs blog or facebook.
And have a chance to win.

#185 "Let us entertain you" challenge. Clowns

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everybody, Riet here with 2 cards.
Today 2 cards for the challenge,
because I think both clowns really belong together.
Let me explain to you how these cards are made.

 I used these stamps:
Card #1
Card #2

Furthermore I used:
Black stazon
Distress oxide.
Twisted citron,
Lucky clover,
Cracked pistaschio,
Musterd seed,
Wild honey,
Crackling campfire,
Barn door.
Derwent colorsoft pencils.

Take two pieces of paper measuring 20x20cm.
One for the orange background and one for the green.
We apply the colors with a brayer.
Starting with the light colors and working your way to the dark colors.
Be careful with the dark colors, apply small amounts.

With the sheet brush strokes, we now randomly stamp
the orange tones on the green background.
And with the green tones on the orange background.
While we let this dry, we stamp the two clowns and color them.

When they ar colored you can cut them out.

Now choose a nice piece of background and cut it to 8.5cm x 8.5cm.

Now cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 12.5 x 12.5 cm.
And a double of 15 X 15cm.
We put the double card a side for a while.

Place the background on the white 12.5 x 12.5

Stamp the top left corner and bottom right corner,
with the ledger stamp and the black stazon.
Repeat this with stamps from the Brush strokes sheet.
Use a stamping tool for this.

Now it looks like this.
Matt with a black cardstock with a 2mm edge.

Do the same with the second white card and glue them together.

Now use foam tape to stick the clowns on.

Now the card is ready.
The team would love to see your artwork in the LCD/CV challenge.
You can also participate with other brands of stamps.
You also have a chance to win new stamps, so join the challenge.

#183 Let's Fly - Not All Who Wander

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Time for another fun challenge and this time I went a wee bit Steampunk...

I wanted this to like they were plans to build a set of wings so I started by stamping the Steampunk Fly Girl on a piece of grid pattern paper. I then stamped the Ledger background in brown ink specifically using the column of figures and the months on the opposite side of the card.  I stamped some text - Pieces of Calligraphy - in red and added some fingerprints and smudges here and there so it looked like these were well worn plans.  I finished the card off by stamping the Not all Who Wander sentiment in the corner.

I hope you join in on the Let's Fly theme this month.

#181 Anything goes challenge, Frida Kahlo tag.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Dear readers, first of all I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.
I wish prosperity and happiness and creativity for each of you.
And of course, most importantly, good health.

The challenge has moved from a bi-weekly to a one-month challenge.
This way everyone has a little more time to make something and participate.
Now my tag for the new challenge from Lost Coast Designs.
Here is the step by step explanation.

Materials I used:

Versa magic,
Purple Hydrangea
Distress Oxide,
chipped sapphire
Distress ink,
chipped sapphire
faded jeans
speckled egg
dusty concord
Die for a window frame
White acrylic paint to splatter.
Distress micro glaze.

I started to color the tag with Speckled egg.

I made a print on the right side of the tag with the daisy floral and micro glaze.

I sponged the right half of the tag with Faded jeans and chipped sapphire.

I made some spots on the left half of the tag with Dusty Concord.

With the versa magic and the ledger stamp,
I made a print over the left side of the tag.
let it dry.

In the meantime,
I cut out a frame with a piece of paper that I colored with Speckled egg.

I darkened the openings in the die with Dusty Concord.

I stamped the text from Carmens Veranda stamps and a border from the
brush strokes sheet with Distress oxide chipped sapphire.
Did the same with the roses stamp.

Now for the portrait of Frida Kahlo.
This is a nice example of how you can also use part of a stamp.
I only used her head and it fit perfectly in the frame.

I made some splatters on the tag with the white paint.
The mat of the tag is made of lilac paper.
The edges are sponged with chipped sapphire.
Now just attach the frame with Frida on it and add some pearls for decoration.
Punch a hole and put a piece of ribbon through it.
I hope you enjoyed it and hope to see your work on the challenge blog.
Enter the challenge for a chance to win new rubber stamps.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 11 - Frightful

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome to Day 11 of the 31 Days of Halloween...

Ahhh...another fun day of Halloween goodness.

For todays card I started off by applying 3 colors of Distress Oxide inks to a white card panel using an acetate circle to create a moon. I then flicked on a bit of water and blotted it off (creating such a lovely look).  I used the negative circle die to apply Brilliance White ink (give it a bit of shimmer) to the moon area.

Next I stamped the Ledger background stamp using Dove Grey ink.   The Cityscape image was stamped along the bottom.  The Witch 2 was then stamped riding across the moon.  I used markers to color her in a bit.  Finally I used a glitter pen to add stars and outline the moon for a bit of sparkle.  I added the  "frightful" sentiment which I outlined with a marker.

#162 Challenge Black and White.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

 Hello all, Riet here.
Yesterday the black and white challenge started.
Quite a challenge for me because I almost always work with color.
After a long time of thinking I finally managed to make a card without color.
This is what I used for this card:

Versafine onyx black.
Marabu Art crayon black,
or neocolor II or FC Gelatos will do.
Masking tape.
.Black fineliner.

How to make the card.
Stamp the moth and mask it.

Stamp the girl with curl and mask it.

Stamp the ledger stamp over the girl with curls.

Stamp a few moth stamps to fill up the background.

With the black crayon we are going to put some stripes
on the edge of the card and around the stamp of the girl.
also a little on her cheeks.
We wipe it out with a damp finger.
With a fineliner we now put some scratched stripes and scratches on the edges of the card and around the girl.

From the Misc words sheet I take the word "Beautiful".
Stamp it and cut it out.
Use the chalk to make some shadow on it.
Matte it with black paper.
I made a white and black mat around the card.
Do you feel like participating?
You are very welcome,
and if you participate you have a chance to win new stamps.
That's nice right?

Good luck and till next time.
