Spring Has Spring - Happy Spring Home Decor

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Roni here...today I have a fun project inspired by this fun giant size bottle cap from the Dollar Tree.
Do you ever just see something and know you've got to have it because it will make a perfect project starter? I KNEW that this bottle cap would make the perfect so I bought it on the spot.

It's metal so I started off by adding a layer of color with AI...a couple shades of green for the grass and blues for the sky.  I then stamped the Daisy Flourish over the AI using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  It took a while to dry but it really looks so nice IRL.  I stamped several extra daisies onto yellow and pink cardstock and fussy cut them to add later.

Next I stamped the bunny onto a vintage book page and the duck on yellow cardstock (Duck & Bunny).  I used colored pencils to add some shading to each of the little guys then cut them out.  These were mounted onto the bottle cap using double stick foam to pop them off the surface.

I then adhered the sticker sentiments and glued the flowers down here and there.  I used Diamond Painting drills for the centers of each of the flowers.  I then added a bit of twine to hang it and called it done!

I hope you're inspired to join in on the fun....

ATC coins

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with some ATC coins for you.
Stamps Used:
Carrie's Menagerie
I made the background with alcohol inks, stencils and paint. I used a punch out of the backgrounds I didn't think would make great card fronts. They made perfect ATC coins.
I then stamped Mouse 3 on the bottom of one then stamped Cat 2 upside down on the top. Edged the coin with ink and added a snarky saying.

For the second one I stamped Giraffe in the center and then the Mini crown set all around, Edged this coin with ink and added a snarky saying.

Come join the fun here.

Save the trees

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for you.
Stamps Used:
Okay this challenge stumped me I must say. I started out it a totally different direction. I ended tossing it in the trash.
Then remembered that Yupo paper is plastic. There we go.
I used my alcohol inks on the Yupo to make a background. Next I took my stamps and stamped them with archival ink and heat set them. Take a stencil and some alcohol and a sponge and sponge it through. You can use lift ink for that also. To give it another layer.
Then I added a saying and layered it on a black card base.

I hope you try this challenging challenge here.

ATCs on Yupo

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with some ATCs for you
I used some Yupo paper and some Alcohol inks, blending solution, 91% isopropyl alcohol and embossing power.
Stamps I used:
Daisy Flourishes
Lily Flourishes
I started out with a strip of Yupo paper 2.5 inches wide. and 11 inches long. Then I grabbed some purple and blue alcohol inks. I had in my stash Tim Holtz marker spritzer and I thought to my self let's see if this works well with blowing the inks around like his new blower shows.(it does)
So I added some blending solution and then some inks and blew the inks around with the spritzer.
Added some 91% alcohol and moved the ink some more. When I was happy of how the inks were on the strip I cut them at 3.5 inches.

Then I took the Lily Flourishes and stamped it with Versa mark ink and heat embossed it with sliver and the other one I stamped Daisy Flourishes with gold embossing.

Yupo paper is plastic so it will bend and warp when you heat it so keep that heat gun moving.

Let It Snow!!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

We're celebrating "In the Deep Midwinter" with our current challenge and this is today's contribution...

LET IT Snow!!!!
(please!)

LCD Stamps:  MittsHLP, Small Cityscape (icicle)

I started off by applying lots of alcohol inks to the glossy cardstock and let it dry completely. I then stamped the small Cityscape along the edge of the card panel which when turned over creates the illusion of icicles! I covered these icicles with a bit of glitter for a bit of shimmer.

I then stamped the pixie onto the card panel and a second time on white cardstock. Since this image has lots of little fiddly bits that are very difficult to cut out, by stamping it on the card initially - I don't have to cut out all those tiny pieces. The second image I colored the pixies face and dress, cut those out and affixed it over the image stamped on the card panel.  I also added glitter to her wings as well.

Finally the sentiment was stamped off to the side with Gothic Purple StazOn Ink.  This panel was mounted on a bit of Violet and Sapphire Starstruck Rinea Foiled Paper to really make the colors pop.

Hope you are having a lovely holiday season...

Merry Christmas everyone!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 27 - Good Dog

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Woo Hoo...
We're nearing the end of our month long celebration of Halloween.
Today I have a fun ATC card for you that works for both of our challenges...Halloween and Pets!

I had fun with this card...you know how much dogs love a good bone, well to keep up with the Halloween theme as well as the Pet Challenge I thought I'd give Fido several bones - human ones that is!  EEK!!!

I stamped the Dancing Skeletons onto a scrap of white cardstock and fussy cut the "choice bits" to give to fido.  I also stamped one of the dogs from the Circus Dogs Set of stamps onto white cardstock, colored him with a grey colored pencil and fussy cut him. I made a little slice in his mouth so he could hold one of the bones in his mouth.

I matted a piece of alcohol inked cardstock onto a black ATC base then added the bones in a pile and mounted the dog to the card using foam tape to pop him off the surface a bit.  I finished it off by matting and mounting the computer generated sentiment.

Have a spooktacular day friends!

Use Some Words and Embrace Your Weirdness

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
it is Dot here with a tutorial for you using alcohol inks.
This fortnight's challenge is to use words
and the main ones used is this card are from 'Stay Weird'.

Step 1:  Using glossy cardstock put some blending solution onto your card, dripping a few drops of blue, yellow and green alcohol inks.

Step 2:  Carefully tilt the card around allowing the ink to move in different directions.  I like to keep it away from the edges if I can.  You can repeat this if you wish, it gives even more interesting effects with the alcohol inks. It's great fun just to play with this technique.

Step 3:  A harlequin stencil was used to add blue archival ink through in random areas.  This helps to extend the colour outward into the white areas.

Step 4:  Mask off the words from the 'Stay Weird' stamp.  Use 2nd generation stamping, with the same blue archival ink, stamp these words in random places.  Again, extending the blue outwards.  Repeat with a yellow archival ink.

Step 5:  Stamp 'Stay Weird' onto black cardstock with Versamark and white emboss the words. Trim and sketch around the edge with a white gel pen.

Step 6:  Randomly stamp the gorgeous scrolled writing from ATC Text Set 1 onto the background.  Stamp a couple of your crazy characters from Isle of Aud Animals and Misc. Anthropomorphs onto some photo copy paper and cut them out. Adhere them to your background.

To Finish off ... Doodle a border with a black finer pen. Flick a little white paint to the background if you wish. Attach the finished piece to your folded and scored black cardstock.

Extra notes:  To get the fine detail of the giraffe I've stamped it first onto the background with archival ink. Then when cutting out the giraffe I've simply cut straight down the outside of it's neck. When you place your cut out of the giraffe over the top the fine detail is easy to see.  No fussing cutting of giraffe mains was necessary.

A quick reminder that you still have a couple of days left in order to enter our challenge here,
or over on facebook.
USE SOME WORDS

Happy Stamping!

Day 21 of the 31 days of Halloween.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. Cathy here with a card for you. Can you believe it is only 10 till Halloween. Yea!
Stamp Used: Cheshire Cat

So I had this stamped out for awhile. This is the stamped image after I had done the alcohol lift from Yupo paper. I was going through my paper hoard and I found this Graphic 45 paper called Midnight Masquerade. Well the colors in it worked perfectly with the colors of  Cheshire Cat I had stamped.
So with that I layered it on some cream cardstock and then added the  Cheshire Cat Sense it was masquerade paper the kitty had to go to a Masquerade Ball. What do you need for a masquerade? A disguise of course.
He got a top hat and a mustache for his disguise.
I hope you enjoyed the card. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Artist Trading Coins

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with some Artist Trading Coins
I started out using a 21/2 inch die because I do not have a punch that size. I must say I like the die because I can see where I want to cut. I started out making the middle of the ATCoin. I wanted them to me sturdy so I cut some 100lb weight cardstock and glued 2 of them together. You can use cardstock you really don't care for anymore because you will be covering it up with a top and bottom piece.
This one I have used Alcohol ink and just run my paper through it on a craft sheet. Next I stamped the doodles circles on it. On scrap white paper stamp the duck and color with Copic markers. Cut out. Add bunny ears on top of duck. Then glue duck to ATCoin and add saying. Edge with black ink and glue to middle.
This one I also started with Alcohol inks. I then stamped Adrien on the ATCoin. I made a mask and then I stamped doodle circle for the background. Add saying and edge in black and glue to the middle.
This one I started with distress ink for the start of the ATCoin.  Stamp the doddle circle for the background. Then stamp Happy Cat on ATCoin. On scrap white cardstock stamp Happy Cat and color with Copic markers. Cut out and add to ATCoin. Edge with black ink and add it to the middle.

For the backs of all the ATCoins I used pattern paper that matched the colors on the front.

Alfred Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for the Boys, Boys, Boys challenge.
First of all I have to tell you how I did this background. I watched Jennifer McGuire Alcohol marbling backgrounds.
This is what I came up with. Some not so good. Some I love. For me cold water did not work well. Just a little FYI if you are going to try it. Also black didn't work well either.
I just grabbed one of these background and ran it through my Big Shot with a die and cut it to fit on a front of a card. Next I grabbed a stencil and made the swirl background with some distress ink.
Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock on the front
Stamped again on white and cut out the movie cut board and glued it on to make it stand out. Then I added it to a white card front and done
Link up for a chance to win Lost Coast $'s.
