31 days of Halloween- day 20 Cats

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

 Hello everyone, Riet here.
Are you in the Halloween mood yet?
Well I do, and I love it!!!!
The Lost Coast Designs Halloween challenge actually consists of 2 parts.
The first part is a general Halloween challenge.
The second part is a Halloween cats challenge.
So I picked up my favorite cat and made a card with it.
The "Devil in disguise".

What I used:

Distressink Walnut stain
White gelly pen
Masking tape
Red Posca marker
Versfine onyx black
Derwent inktense pencils,
But you can use other pencils or markers.

How to make the card.
I stamped the cat with the Versafine,
Masked the cat and stamp the window with Versafine black.
Stamped the window on a piece of paper
and cut out the 4 windows.
With the mask still on the cat, place the paper frame on the card as a mask.
Stamp the grunge tree in the window.
Now remove the masks.
Use a 2cm/0.8inch circle punch to punch a circle of masking tape.
Stick it on the window, this will become the moon.
Now we are going to color the sky and the moon.
I used Derwent inktense for this.
The cat wings and hoorns are colored with a red Posca marker.
The points of the staff are also colored with the red posca marker.
The background is also colored with a Derwent pencil.
With an ink blending tool I applied some Distressink Walnut stain to the edges.
Stamped the words on a peace of paper and blended some walnutstone on the edges.
Glued it on with foam tape.
Now you are done.

Hope you will join the challenge, and maybe you wil be our next winner
of new rubberstamps.

Day 25 of the 31 days of halloween, #154 cats and dogs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

 Hello dear stampers,

Today it's my turn to show something with a Halloween dog or cat.
This is a really fun challenge.
Will you join us?
You probably have a stamp that you can use for this challenge.
It doesn't matter which brand, you can still participate in the challenge.
For this card I used the Spiderweb background stamp.
A stamp from the sheet Pieces of calligraphy.
And the text of the "Devil in disguise" stamp.
I also used a cobweb stencil from Dutch Doobadoo.
I started by coloring the card background with water and ink.:
Distressink musterd seed - Rusty hinge - Pumice stone.
With the stencil and Adirondack colorwash Purple twilight,
I sprayed in the top left corner and bottom right corner.
Looks black in the photo, but is a very deep dark purple.

I stamped the center piece with the spiderweb background stamp and black ink.
I stamped Spike and Lucy with waterproof ink on a thin paper.
Colored with pencils, and with a red posca I drew the horns on spike's head.
I cut a witch hat from black paper and glued it on Lucy's head.
In the lower left corner and upper right corner I stamped the text with Distress oxide Crackling campfire.
I stamped the text on a strip of paper.
Stained the paper with Distressink Musterd seed and Rusty hinge.
the spider has been glued up and the text raised a bit, pasted on with 3d tape.
This was the explanation for the card.
So join the challenge and maybe you'll win.

Day 17 of the 31 days of Halloween. #154 Cats and dogs

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all,
The second part of the 31 day halloween challenge at Lost Coast Designs has started.
Now its Halloween with cats and dogs.
This is so much fun!!

Now for the explanation of my contribution.
I used the door and window set and the Devil in disguise stamp.

Stamp the Devil cat and the windows with a permanent ink.

Mask off the cat.

Because I can't draw at all, I used a stencil with flames.
I drew this in pencil.

The rest I colored with Derwent Intense pencils.
I covered the devil's horns and wings with a red posca marker.
And sponged the edges with Distress ink black soot.
Did the top extra so it would look like smoke.

And that was about it.
Seems difficult but it isn't, give it a try.
If you have a nice stamp with a dog or cat, make something Halloween like with it.
Then you can join the challenge.
And you might even win a prize.
You can also use other stamp brands, so join in.

#126 Challenge at Lost Coast Designs. Critters

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, Riet here.
Today my contribution to the Lost Coast Designs challenge.
Subject is Critters.
Well, when we think of critters we usually think of very sweet and nice creatures.
But of course there are other critters as well.
Just look at this card and you'll see what I mean.
This card was made with the LCD evil eye stamp.
The "devil in disguise" words are from the stamp of the same name.

The evil eye stamp is designed by Teri Sherman
and LCD has a lot of stamps by Teri's design.
Take some time and look at them on this page.
These stamps are so gorgeus, I just love them.

I used for this card.....
Distress Oxide Black Soot, Rustic Wilderness andTwisted Citron.
the cobweb background is stamped with Distress Micro Glaze.
The speckles that you see in the background and the card are applied with a plastic sponge.
I colored the critter with Derwent coloursoft.
I really enjoyed making this card for this challenge.
The lost Coast Designs team is very curious about
your interpretation.
So come on and join in, you don't even have to use LCD stamps, you can join whatever stamp brand you want.
And did you know that you can win rubber?
That's always nice of course.
Well good luck with the challenge.

31 Days of Halloween, Day 16 - Devil in Disguise.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi folks, Riet here.
Today its my turn to post on the blog.
Don't you love it, spooky and creepy furry creatures.
On this card I used the Devil in Disguise cat.
I wanted to create a feeling of hell.
So I used the shaving foam technique.

What do you need:
Alcohol ink,
Sunshine yellow
Red pepper
Pitch black
A tray to fit your paper
Shaving foam
Stazon black ink
White gel pen
markers or pencils

Spray a layer of foam in the tray.
Drop some drops of yellow ink on the top.
Try to mix the ink in the top layer so that it turns evenly yellow.
Now you make a line of drops with the red ink. Not everywhere but spread over the foam.  Very carefully you spread the ink a bit with a spatula.
You do the same with the black, but don't use to much.
Remember, we are trying to make it look like the flames of hell.
Put your paper on the foam and leave it a moment.
Pick up the paper and remove the foam with a wide spatula.
If this doesn't work for you, you can find tutorials of this technique on you tube.

Now you stamp the little devil cat on a peace of paper and color it.
Cut it out and glue it on your background.
I glued the text separately on the card.
But that is of course not necessary.

I hope you have fun making your furry friend for the challenge
We love to see what you make. Please read our rules first.
Don't forget the 31 Days of Halloween Challenge is also running until the end of the month.
