Wisdom of the Sea and Mountains

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today.  The current challenge is Summertime so the team are sharing all their hot, summery makes.  I was thinking that summer is a good time to get out and enjoy nature so I decided to make a card using Lost Coast Designs Cracked Grass and Drake Dog and a new sentiment from Carmen's Veranda which really spoke to my soul.
The observant amongst you may notice that Drake Dog didn't make the final cut.......
Here's the very unassuming Cracked Grass stamp and Drake Dog, who I did stamp, colour and fussy cut.  I am sure he will star on some future project.  He's such a cutie.  When I first got the cracked grass stamp I couldn't work out why it wasn't cracked mountains!  Then I turned it up the right way and had an ohhhhhh! moment.  But I still think it makes good mountains too!
I never claim to be an artist which is why I stamp LOL.  But it looks mountain/lake enough for me.  Call it abstract art bwahahahhaaaa   I watercoloured my mountain scene with distress inks and sparkle.
I didn't use Drake Dog cos I think he disturbed my perspective of sweeping mountains.  So I just added this awesome sentiment, Everything Will Be Fine, which I split into two parts.
I hope you get time to stamp something summery and join the fun here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  The team will be posting more inspiration throughout the month so check back often and I look forward to seeing your makes.

Happy Stamping!
Gail

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Saturday. It's Sue here, and today I'm sharing my second project for our 'Things With Wings' challenge.

I started by stamping on black card and embossing with white embossing powder.

Then I dabbed different colours of Stazon over the top and wiped off any excess with an old towel.
Isn't this a beautiful stamp? She's been coloured with watercolour pens and then cut out.

And now she's on top of the world!

These are my fabulous stamps. I've used

I hope you like it, and that you join in with our challenge. Remember there is a chance to win some Lost Coast $ for our lucky winner!
Take care and have a very happy day whatever you are doing x

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here with a new example for our challenge Christmas in July! When I made this card it was 36 degrees Celsius here in the north of the Netherlands!! And I was stamping for Christmas hahaaa!

An easy card: I just stamped Cracked grass and Sky, Merry Christmas (Party words) and of course Megan's Christmas Bird  onto a white card with black waterproof ink. I coloured the images with watercolour pencils and water, and I finished the piece with different colours glitter glue.
Merry Christmas in advance! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unleash The Flying Monkeys!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday.

It's great to be back with my second project for our fun "Let's Fly" challenge.

Nothing says flying quite like monkeys does it!

I started by making my background with Distress Oxides. I wanted a gray murky look like the black and white part of the Wizard of Oz. I've used mixed media paper so I dipped and dripped to my heart's content.

I stamped my monkeys on and off the page. Then I stamped them again, cut them out, coloured them, and layered them up.

Then added some interest by stamping in metallic paint.

These are my stamps, I've just used the tip of the hat and the boots for my 'Wicked Witch of the East'
Flying Monkey (Carmen's Veranda)

So there we have it, the flying monkeys have been unleashed!
I hope that you're enjoying our challenge, and that you join in. Please remember that this is a stamping challenge so real stamps only, no digis allowed!
Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing, and thanks so much for looking x

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, welcome to our It's a wrap challenge! Read everything about it HERE and participate!

I stamped a kraft bag to use as a gift wrap for a Christmas present! First I sprayed it with blue and green Distress Oxide sprays. After drying I stamped Cracked Grass and Sky, Cracked Tree and the bird called Megan's Christmas Bird with black StazOn ink. I also stamped some extra stars from the Grass and Sky stamp. I coulored the piece with colour pencils and glittery gel pens.

See you next time!

We're All Divas Darling

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday. It's Sue here with my tag tryptych for our Art Dolls and Divas Challenge.

I started by inking up my tags with Distress Inks.

Then I added some stenciling and background stamping. At this point I joined them all together with some washi tape and stitched it down. This now means that the tags are free standing 'cos I can bend them.

Then I stamped my trio of lovelies (yours will come all in one stamp, I really must stop chopping mine up lol) I stamped the three words onto card to ground them.

This is what I've used.

This was great fun to make, and I hope you like it.
Take care, and have a very happy day whatever you are doing x

Tale As Old As Time

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday. It's Sue here with my journal page for our Movie Mania challenge.

Can you tell what it is yet??

Beauty And The Beast is one of my favourite films, which is a good thing as I must have watched it hundreds of times when the kids were small. My favourite will always be the animated version, though I enjoyed the re-make too.

This is a very rare thing for me, a one layer piece (pretty much) I just stamped, masked, and coloured my journal page.

The rose petals are just a de-constructed paper flower, and the sentiment has been typed on my old typewriter.

These are the stamps that I used.

Large Film Strip

Roses

Cracked Grass and Sky

I hope you like it, and that you join in by showing us your movie makes. Just link up your stamped creations for a chance to win some Lost Coast dollars.

Take care and have a very happy week x

Secret Sea Horses

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today.  I hope you are loving all the undersea adventures the team is sharing with Lost Coast Designs sea themed stamps.  I love the sea and the mysteries beneath and I've used the beautiful Doodle Seahorse stamps to make a picture.
I made a subtle background with baby blue embossed small Doodle Seahorses and distress inks.
I started with a piece of pale blue mottled card.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Bubble Background using Versamark ink and dried it with my heat tool.  Hoping for a watermark resist LOL.  Then I stamped the small Doodle Seahorse three times and embossed with baby blue powder.  Some got on the bubbles as well, but it's all good.........
I blended green and blue distress inks onto the background, wiped my embossed seahorses clean and then spritzed the inks with water.   When everything was dry I stamped Lost Coast Designs Cracked Grass stamp with Evergreen Bough distress ink, orientating my stamp vertically, and then wiped the seahorses again to get rid of any green ink over the embossing.
I stamped the large Doodle Seahorse on some designer card in shades of orange and white, embossed with black powder and fussy cut.  I used green gel pen and silver pilot marker to add some highlights.  Finally I stamped most of Carmen's Veranda Live In The Sunshine sentiment with black archival and mounted my picture in a deep box frame.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to check out all the awesome makes from the team and link up your stamped Under the Sea makes for a chance to win.

Starry Starry Night

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Monday. It's Sue here with my second piece for our Things With Wings challenge, and I've made a journal page.
I knew that I wanted to use Steampunk Icarus as my main image and in a Starry Night homage.

I started by stamping and embossing the circles from Leonardo Accessories in yellow, but they turned out to be a sort of burnt orange. The Cracked Grass and Sky was embossed in white. My journal is textured watercolour so it can take loads of water, which is my next stage.

Then dipped and dried (many many times) in the blue distress inks. They resisted the ink beautifully, but I wasn't a fan of the colour of the circles so I stamped them again, cut them out and added them to my background.

I added some yellow Portfolio pastels, and
was much happier with this, so now on to the main images!
I collaged some book pages and gave it a coat of gesso then I stamped my row of houses onto it using the stamping platform.
And it was an epic fail! The texture was too uneven for all of the stamp to hit it. That made perfect sense after I'd spent an hour of my life that I would never get back doing it!
So, on to plan B! Stamped onto my super smooth card and coloured with Distress Inks. Then my favourite - fussy cutting - shoot me now. I've heard that some people actually enjoy this ?????? But, they do look nice when they're done, don't they!
This is my leading man - Steampunk Icarus who today has flown too close to the moon! The moon is actually the centre part of the Goth Shrine.
I typed up the sentiment on my computer and added to the page.
These are the stamps that I've used. They are all by Lost Coast, and can be found here.
Goth Shrine (moon)
Cracked Grass and Sky (this would come to you in one piece, I'm terrible for cutting up my stamps - sorry not sorry!
And there we are, all done! It's not quite as it was in my head, but then again I'm no Leonardo! Don't forget to join in with our challenge, just feature something with wings! Have a great day, and thanks so much for looking x
