Gnomes: Cake Viking

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here with the final blogpost of our Gnomes Challenge! Theres still a little for you time to participate!

Using black ink, I stamped the Viking Gnome onto a white card and masked it. After that I stamped the Stump House. Using a stencil and yellow, pink and blue Distress ink (and a blending tool) I sponged the arch behind the gnome. For every color I moved and flipped over the stencil. I also sponged the bottom of the card carefully. I removed the mask of the gnome and coloured everything with watercolor markers. I stamped the text (Party Words). As a finishing touch I sponged the edges with a bit of black ink to create deapth.

See you next time,
Liesbeth XX

#114 Gnomes Challenge. Colorful sweater gnome.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hallo everybody, Riet here.
And yes!!!! Its gnome time.
I love the little people.
Lost coast designs has a lot of them, and they are all funny and cute.
(click here) to go to the Gnomes
For this card I used the sweater gnome.
Do you want to now how I made this gnome card?
 Well here we go.
  I used:
Distressink,
Musterd seed,
Peacock feathers,
Dusty concord,
Picked rasberry.
Black fineliner (waterproof).
Derwent inktense pencils that match the distress colors.
A black waterproof ink, like stazon.
White gellpen.
Masking tape.

We start with stamping the gnome with a waterproof black ink.
Stamp again on a piece of masking tape.
Mask the Gnome.
With a mandala stencil and the black fineliner, I have drawn a part of the mandala.
But if you like you can do the whole background.
With a yellow Inktense pencil I collered the background.
And with a orange inktense pencil I did some shadows.
Take a waterbrush and wet the yellow and orange.
Its amazing what a color burst you get with a small amount of water.
Now color the gnome and use the water again.
For the scond background you just make some ink puddles on your craftsheet.
Spray some water and run your paper trough it.
With the white gelpen make some dots on his hat.
Make some accent on the gnome with the white gelpen.
Matt your card and you are finished.

Click on the banner for the challenge.
There is some rubber to win.
And thats what we all like, winning some stamps.

Gnomes: and Chickens Crossing the Road

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi ho from Laurie on this 26th day of January, continuing to celebrate Gnomes here on the Portal.  We see them everywhere these days, and there are a fabulous collection of them on the Lost Coast Designs website.

I made a card for this challenge, using the Pointy Hat Gnome and the Small Diamonds background stamp, both of which can be found at Lost Coast Designs,  The sentiment is Chickens Crossing, one of the many clearstamps on the Carmen's Veranda website.

I created my background by heat embossing the small diamonds background onto a piece of black card stock, using white embossing powder.  I trimmed up the edges and layered it with a piece of white card stock.

Next I stamped my gnome with black ink onto white card stock, colored him with Copic Sketch markers, and fussy cut him out.   I glued a white pompom to the tip of his pointy hat.

I die cut the center circle using white paper and affixed it as shown.  I positioned the gnome atop this and used foam tape to attach him to give him a bit of dimension.  My sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a white square, edged with blue, and positioned as shown.

Done and dusted!  You still have a couple of days left to show us your "Gnome" creations.  Free stamps for the winner!

Gnomeo Gnomeo, Wharefore Art Thou Gnomeo?

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Sunday. It's Sue here with my second piece for our Gnomes challenge, and I thought it was time that I brought a bit of culture!

I've often wondered (and by 'often' I mean never) what would have become of Romeo and Juliet if they hadn't died young. My guess is she'd have got a little chunky and he would only change his socks when nagged.

I started by stamping my background with Doodle Circles and colouring in with alcohol markers.

Next, I stamped, coloured, and cut out Sunglasses Gnome and Coffee. I gave Coffee a gnome hat from 3 Gnomes. I've given them both a nice romantic heart 'cos they still love each other really, and let's face it, no-one else would have them! Many a long-lasting marriage has been build on this principle.

The sentiment has just been typed up on my computer - I won't tell you what Juliet thought about Gnomeo!

You still have a full week to join in with our challenge, so please have a go and link up for the chance to win some Lost Coast dollars. Take care, and enjoy the rest of your weekend xx

Sparkling Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here with a very shiny sparkling gnome-ATC, for our Challenge #114: Gnomes,  to show you.
If you love glitter (I'm addicted... ;-) ) this is a perfect and simple technique for you!

I stamped the Swinging gnome with black ink onto the card, masked it and after that I stamped the big door (Door and window set) ,behind' it using Distress ink Vintage photo. Using the same Gnome stamp, I stamped some branches at the bottom and the edges. I sponged the edges a bit with Vintage Photo. I coloured the entire image just by using Stickles (glitter glue), in  5 or 6 different colours.

Hope you'll join us! 😀

Water buffalo Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all. Cathy here with a gnome card that I got inspired by the Flintstones.
Stamp used: Viking gnome

I first started with some distress spray inks and made a background. I used blues and greens, set aside to dry.
Next stamp Viking gnome and when I was coloring him in he remined me of the Flintstones when Fred would go the the water buffalo lodge meeting, so I colored Viking gnome that same colors. Cut him out.

Next I took a stencil and some black texture paste and applied it to my background that has dried.
Add some washi tape for the Viking gnome (water buffalo) to stand on and a snarky saying and mount it on a teal card base and there you have it.

Come join the gnome fun here

# 114 Gnome's doorhanger.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Door hanger.

 Hello everybody, Riet here.
Today a post for the gnome challenge.
Just love those funny gnomes,
they are so adorable.
Here is a list what I used for this door hanger.
Versafine onyx black.
Distress oxide ground espresso, Iced spruce, Speckled egg.
  And distressink Walnut stain.
Some cream colored paper.
Stencil with numbers.
Waterspray.
Coloring pencils/markers.
White gellpen.
Red posca pen.
Fine sandingpaper.

I started with the distress oxide speckled egg and Iced spruce.
I made stipes over the paper in one direction,
leaving some room between the stripes so the cream color shows.
When it is dry I scored some lines on the backside of the paper.
With the Ground espresso I made the score lines brown.
Then I sprayed just a little bit water on the lines.
This makes the lines run out a little bit.
Now you make the numbers with the stencil and the Ground espresso.

On a piece of paper you stamp the gnomes and the keyhole with versafine.
Colour them and cut them out.

Cut out the doorhanger and glued it on the cardboard doorhanger (Ikea).
Now you glue the male gnome on the keyhole and let his hat stick out.
Then you glue the keyhole on the doorhanger.
Glue the girl gnome and the keys on.  Sand the edges with sandpaper, and done!

LCD team would love to see what you make with a cute gnome.
Here is a link to lost Coast Designs gnomes, so cute.
Show us, and you can win some rubber.
And here you can enter the challenge.

Party Like It's 2017

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday. It's Sue here and speaking in my best BBC voice, in a change from our scheduled programming instead of a new piece for our Something Beginning With B challenge I'm sharing a couple of my favourites from 2017!
Aaah 2017, the year was dominated by Ed Shearon in the charts,  Moonlight fought La La Land for the best picture Oscar. And I made these!

My black bird book cover.
This book still goes between my craft room and the computer daily. I write down what stamps I use 'cos I can never remember them afterwards. It was made with Feather Bird from Lost Coast Designs and of course the sentiment is one of Carmen's Veranda's.

And this is my black birds on a bright bokeh background! It was made with Stayzon inks on a glossy card background. I've used 3 Birds from Lost Coast and again a Carmen's Veranda sentiment.

I hope you've enjoyed our trip back to 2017, and if you're quick you still have time to join in with our challenge, just link up here.
Thanks so much for looking, and I'll see you again tomorrow when our new challenge begins. Take care and have a great day! xx

Butterfly Square

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with a project of gold embossed butterflies using the
Butterfly Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

This was very simple.  I took three coordinating pieces of some of my stash of Gelli prints and heat embossed the butterfly square with gold embossing powder onto each one.   I cut them to three inch squares and layered them with glossy gold card stock.  I made tags with two of them, punching a hole in the upper left corner and threading with gold ribbon.  For the other two, I mounted them onto white card bases and made little matching envelopes for a pair of note cards.

So many fun things that start with "B" - show us what you can make!!

Challenge #113,Things beginning with a B, Beautyful girl, Bird.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

B for Bird.
How are you all, hope you are crafting.
Because this is a fun challenge.
Something with a letter B makes you look at a different way at your stamps.
So our team leader Gail made a great choise with this challenge.
For this card I used the lovely vintage stamp Annie.
Also used the Victoriana set.
And the dictionary stamps.

What I used for this card.
Resist fluid.
A stencil with numbers.
A stencil with ABC.
Stazon Timber brown.
Distress oxide:
Iced spruce.
Antique linen.
Ground espresso.
Abandoned coral
Versa magic  Malted Mauve.
White gellpen.

How to make this card.

First I made a mix with the distress oxide antique linen and iced spruce on my craftsheet.
Then I incorperated the colors here and there on the paper.
Keep the colors on the paper light.
Now put the numbers stencil on your background and spray the resist flued.
Dry this very well.
Now with some abandoned coral and a little water you make the rest of the color on the card.
Make sure that you still can see the other colors shine trough.
With the dictionary stamp and stazon timber brown we make some prints.
I chose to stamp it without the big word on top, but that is for you to decide.
The corner stamp is the stamp from the Victoriana set.
I stamped it half on the edge of the paper and made a corner stamp of it.
Stamped it with the stazon timber brown.
The medalion with the face is stamped with the Versamark Malted Mauve.
Now take a thin piece of paper and stamp Annie with Stazon timber brown.
Color the image with markers or pencils.
Glue her on the card and ad some highlights with the white gellpen.
The word “bird” is written with a stencil.
With the Maulted Mauve I made some splashes on the card.
Glue the card on 2 layers of cardstock, and your done.

Now the team would love to see what you make with the letter B.
So join our challenge, and maybe you will win some rubber.

Back To Black

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, it's Sue here.
Good morning and a very happy Friday. Firstly can I say how happy I am to be back! So much has happened since I was last here, Brexit, Covid, and new Blogger!
My lovely Lost Coast/ Carmen's Veranda stamps have all been sitting very patiently in their box so they are delighted to be out again!  Here is my piece for our fun Beginning With B challenge.

I started by making my background. I did my first one in full colour, but then decided that I would quite like it just in black, and there's the first B.

These are the stamps that I've used. You can tell that they've been very well-loved can't you! I've always been told that Archival ink conditions the stamp, so it's a quick wipe then back in the box. None of that cleaning malarky!
There's a (B)ackground. a (B)order,  and the (B)ack of the couple.

The quote is by Oliver Hardy, and I thought it went nicely with the image. I've just typed it up on the computer.

All of the stamps used today are by Lost Coast Designs.
I've used Spray Webbing
Diamonds Border
Don't forget to link up to our challenge for the chance to win some Lost Coast dollars to spend in the store.

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for looking x

Something beginning with B: Bishop

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here with a B for our new challenge! Read everything about it HERE, and join the fun!
I really love the Chess stamp set, so I chose B from it: Bishop! I also used ATC text set 1. On a painted scrap of paper I first stamped the bishop with black ink  and masked it.  I stamped the chess board (also from the Chess set) with blue ink and the texts with pink and white ink. I finished with charcoal (shadow around the bishop), colour pencils  and I sponged the edges black. I glued it onto a pink and a blue piece of cardstock.
If  there are any questions, just ask in the comments below :-)
Have fun!

See you next time,
Liesbeth XX

Hello all Cathy here with a bookmark for you today
Stamps used:

I started out with some cream cardstock and sprayed some brown distress ink on it. I spritzed it with water first to make it move. Then I took another sheet of cardstock and sprayed that with water and laid it on top to pick up the extra spray. Let it dry.
Stamp pieces of calligraphy in the same colour brown randomly all over the paper.

Stamp the bird reading the book from mother goose birds. Color with Copic marker and cut out.  Add some saying stickers around and glue the bird on top the sayings.

Cut and layer on black cardstock and you have a bookmark.
