You Talkin' To ME

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Wednesday. It's Sue here, and I'm sharing my second card for our Tweet This challenge.

I've made this for my cousin (phew that's one male card done and dusted for this year!)

I started by die cutting my top card then stamping and masking my two birds.

Then I inked up the card using distress inks and flicked water.
I stamped the Circles Background on another piece of card, coloured some circles and cut them out.
These are some of my favourite Lost Coast stamps.

To finish off I stuck down the circles and cut a card blank and sewed it all together.
There is still a couple of days to get involved in the challenge so please keep stamping your birds.
Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing, and thanks so much for looking x

Keep It Shut!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Monday. It's Sue here again and I'm going to show you how I made my mini book for the 'Something Beginning With B Challenge'

I started by cutting out my pages and covers with the Eileen Hull Passport die. I've used chipboard for the covers as it's nice and strong.

You saw these guys yesterday - this is the inside of the front cover.

And this is the inside of the back. They've both just been stamped and heat embossed - nothing fancy needed to show off these fab stamps.

For the binding of the book I've used canvas so that it will stand up to wear and tear. I've coloured it with Distress Inks, then stamped the Large Chickenwire Background. Onto a piece of white card I've stamped Feather Bird and heat embossed him. Then I've stamped the Doodle Circles over the top with Distress Oxides, wiped away any that went over the bird, then clear embossed. Then I've just attached the front and the inside front panel to the chipboard and the binding, added some twine and we're all done!
Who's a pretty boy then! I love the Carmen's Veranda sentiment My Greatest Accomplishment, it just about sums up my life lol.
Of course there is a back cover too, buy you'll have to come back later in the month to see that!
So now you've seen my B's I hope you join in with some of your own - remember there's rubber up for grabs!
Have a fun week, and thanks very much for looking x

A Tidy Mind

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Bank Holiday weekend (well it is in the UK) it's Sue here with more feathers for our 'Tweet This' challenge.

It's very rare that I make anything straight into my journal, I'm far too chicken. I usually make something loose and then sew it in, but I was feeling bold today.
I started by gessoing the pages as I knew that I wanted to make a Brusho background, so there would be lots of water. What I didn't know was where I was going to go from there! After the gesso I did some stencilling with texture paste, then drank lots of coffee and ate my body weight in biscuits until it was dry. It's white paste on a white background - there is no photograph (I was too busy eating the biscuits)

I do love Brusho's! This looks really nice IRL with the drips and the puddles. I had to keep moping up the spine otherwise it would have all pulled apart.

I added a few doodles with black and metallic paints, and also some white pen. I stamped Tidy Minds in pink ink onto some tissue paper and stuck it down. Then I went around the edges of the tissue and the pages with the edges of the stamp and black ink. I painted the reverse of the tissue with white acrylic so that the sentiment stood out better.

I love this bird! He's called Feather Bird, but I call him Frank. I just think that he looks like a Frank! Sometimes I think that he looks angry, but today he's just being creative (messy) Anyway Frank's been stamped and embossed onto tissue paper. I've added a Tim Holtz sticker in the corner 'cos I liked the sentiment.

All done!
There's still time for you to enter our challenge, but be quick - remember you're playing for new rubber!
Enjoy the rest of your week, and thanks very much for looking xx

Here's Sue with some inspiration to start us off this month.  Keep popping back as the team will be posting every other day now here.  Or better yet, follow this blog so you don't miss any of the fun!

Hi it's Sue here, and I'm really happy to be kicking off our new challenge, though you wouldn't think so with my sentiment!

Like Feather Bird I can't function without the first coffee of the day!

So I took a very inexpensive A5 notebook with a kraft cover and brayered gesso over the top.

Next, I used some DecoArt paint and a number stencil. It's not rocket science is it, but this is one of my favourite colour combos.

Then fun with stamps! All the words are from Carmen's Veranda clear stamp selection, and the numbers are from Bingo Border.
There is many a true word spoken in a clear stamp sentiment, I always give everything my full ass! This is the back of the book.

And this is the front. Again a CV sentiment, and the wonderful Feather Bird is by Lost Coast. This bird makes me smile every time I see him. For a little guy he has a lot of attitude!

Now it's your turn, are you up for the challenge?  We can't wait to see your projects!
Submit your entries in the linky party below by midnight PST on the 25th!

We will be bringing you more stamping inspiration for the challenge throughout the month!  Yes, now through the 25th, you'll see plenty of inspiration to help your muse, on the average of one every couple of days.
Happy Stamping!
Marilyn
