For the Men: Singing Cowboys

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

It's nearing the end of our month long challenge "For The Men" here on the Portal, so you still have a little time left to get your projects posted for a chance to win some free stamps.

Laurie here with a fun card for the challenge using the Singing Cowboys stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the 2 to 3 Glasses of Wine  clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

I started by stamping my cowboys onto a piece of white card stock with black ink and fussy cutting them out.  Next I colored them with Copic Sketch markers and a gold gel pen for some touches here and there.

My background is a page from a vintage music book.  I layered that with a black panel and edged it with Distress Vintage Photo ink.  Using some dark brown Distress liquid ink, I added some splatters randomly to the music paper.  Once dried, I adhered my cowboys to the center.

The sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a portion of one of the old pages from the same music book.  I edged it with the same distress ink and affixed it in the lower left corner as shown.

So be sure to get your projects posted here and you still have a chance to be the monthly winner!

Challenge #182 - For the Men - Green Man

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today I have a card that I hope will help usher in Spring without too much more of that white stuff...Green Man.

To create this card I started off by stamping the Leaves background image on the card using multiple colors of greens and browns. I then stamped the "Green Man" from the Victoriana set in a darker green. I then used some text from the Pieces of Calligraphy one or two images from Pieces of Architecture and dots from the Brush Strokes.  I then die-cut the Oak Leaf branches from Honey Bee Stamps to frame him.

There is still time to join in on the fun...

#182 For the men challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi stampers, Riet here.
Today a card "for the men" challenge.
I chose a steampunk card.
And this is what you need if you want to make this card.

Distress ink,
Walnut stain,
Broken china,
Rusty hinge,
Weathered wood.
Stazon Timber brown,
Versa Magic Jumbo Java.
Versa mark.
WOW EP Egyptian turquoise.
Ranger EP Hamered=bronze colored
Corrugated cardboard.
Gears die, I used Spellbinders.
Brown and turquoise acrylic paint.
Coloring pencils or markers.
I used Derwent Colorsoft.
Foam tape.

How this card is made.
I started stamping the gears 2 stamp with versamark.

I sprinkled the Ranger hammered embossing powder on top.
Let it melt with the heat tool.

Color with a ink blending tool,
 and the Distress ink colors
Broken china, Rusty hinge, Weathered wood the card.

Cut off the rest of the card,
and then take a small edge of the embossing powder with it.
You stamp the text on this piece with the Stazon brown timber.

Now take a piece of corrugated cardboard.
Make sure it goes well around the card with the gears.
Paint the entire piece of corrugated cardboard with brown acrylic paint.
Dry with a heattool.

Repeat this with turquoise paint, but now only paint here and there.
The brown paint should remain clearly visible.

Now we take a piece of orange paper that is larger than the gears card,
but smaller than the corrugated cardboard.

Distress the edges with a tool.

Make a puddle of Distressink walnut stain and water and dip the edges in it.

Die cut two sizes of gears from orange paper.
I used a set of Spellbinders.

Apply Versamark on the gears,
but leave spots free so that the orange can still be seen later.
Sprinkle the WOW Egyptian turquoise on the gears.
Melt with the heat tool.

Isn't that beautiful?
Love the result of the embossing powder.

Now you can assemble the card by glueing the layers together.
I stuck the small gear with 1 layer of foam tape.
I stuck the large gear on with double thick foam tape.
Glue the Adventure and the flying car on.

And now you're done.
Hope you guys liked it.
Remember, you still have time to join the challenge.
You have a chance to win new rubber stamps.
But because the rules have changed, I would like to ask you to read the rules first.
This way you avoid disappointments.
Hope to see your participation at the challenge.
I wish you good luck.

Flights Of Fancy

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  I hope you enjoying all the masculine inspiration with our For The Men Challenge
So many lovely masculine stamps at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda and so many awesome ideas on how to use them from the team.
Gail here today and I'm keeping it a bit clean and simple with the gorgeous STP Dirigible stamp
and a Lost Coast Designs Shadow Frame background.
I stamped the large rectangular Shadow Frame with Ice Blue chalk ink and then edged it with some Sky Blue archival.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs STP Dirigible onto the inked panel with black ink and added some distress marker colour.  I also tried to whiten the clouds a bit with a white gel pen.  I cut the panel with a stiched edge die and stuck it on a white card base.  The Happy Birthday is from Lost Coast Designs Party Words set and was stamped with the Sky Blue archival ink.

For the Men: Sherlock and Albert

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome back from Laurie for another fun "For The Men" project for our February monthly challenge.  Hope you are playing along with us and making all things "manly" with us as well.

I made a couple of tags for this one using the Sherlock and Einstein stamps (sold separately) from Carmen's Veranda.   The background for these tags is from a master board collage that I made recently.  I die cut a collaged circle from that master board for each then a slightly larger black circle to layer them.

Albert and Sherlock were stamped with black ink onto white paper, colored with Copic Sketch markers, and fussy cut out.  I positioned them in the center of my tags and added a tarnished brass eyelet to each with some decorative ribbons threaded through them.
So simple, so fun!

Come along and join us for this Manly challenge and you just might be the lucky winner of some free stamps!

#182 For the men, the boxer.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, Riet here with a men card.

This card is just pure stamping.
Playing with only ink and stamps can be so beautiful.
Stamps I used.

For this card I used:
 Distress oxide,
Spiced marmalade,
Twisted citron,
Lucky clover.

 and Distress ink:
Antique linen,
Twisted citron,
Evergreen bough,
Spiced marmalade.

Stazon black.
Coloring pencils

I started by stamping the boxer with black stazon.
I also stamped a mask of the boxer and masked him with it.
Made the spots on the background with water and distress ink.
The circles of the brush strokes sheet are stamped with the 3 colors of oxide.
The inside of the circles are colored with pencils.
Rings were drawn around the colors with a fineliner.
Left and top with a stamp of the Brush strokes and
oxide lucky clover.
Remove the mask and give the boxer some shading.
Stamp the text with the black Stazon ink.
Now just mat the card and you're done.

Come and participate in the challenge.
And maybe you will be the next winner of new stamps.
Please read the rules first.

For the men

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a vintage, grungy card for you today.
Stamps Used:

I started by making the background by using some distress ink colors in brown. I then stamped a stamp from the Travel set using one of the same ink colors I used to make the background. I did the same thing with the typewriter. I edged it in the newest color of distress ink and then dripped some water on it to make more interest on the background.
I then stamped Alfred  Hitchcock standing in black ink to make him stand out from the background. I added some washi stickers to the side and layered it on a black card base.

I hope you join this month-long challenge here.

#182 For The Men...Fear

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Everyone! Roni here - I hope you're enjoying the new challenge format. I know I am - it's so much fun to really have a chance to play with each challenge for a whole month.

Today I have my first piece I created for the current challenge #182 - For the Men.

I started off by making a gel print for the background then once it had dried I stamped the Gears background stamp over top.  I then stamped the very handsome vintage gentleman from the Up Close & Personal set using blue ink.  He was fussy cut and then affixed to the card using foam tape.

I thought the sentiment from Carmen's Veranda was perfect to finish off the card.  If you haven't checked out the clear sentiments she offers you really must. There are so many fun ones to be found there!

Hidden Self

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Well, here we are in February and the challenge this month is For The Men.  Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have so many wonderful masculine stamps and the team is knocking it out of the park with so much awesome inspiration.   I've made a card using two of my favourite blokes, Weeping Man and Alfred Hitchcock.

I started by stamping Weeping Man on white card with brown archival ink.  I spritzed with water and sprinkled Paper Artsy blackcurrant, rusty car and golden sands infusion powders and waited for the magic to happen.

I cut the Weeping Man panel with a stitched edge die and stamped the Carmen's Veranda Squirrel in Traffic sentiment.  Then I stamped, coloured and fussy cut Carmen's Veranda Alfred Hitchcock and added him to the card.
Join the For The Men challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars and don't forget to check back often for lots more wonderful inspiration from the team.
Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

For The Men: 3 Waiters

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Happy February 1st from Laurie and welcome to a brand new month long challenge:  For the Men.  Self explanatory I think??  Find your masculine, boyish, macho stamps and make something creative with them!  You could win some free stamps from Carmen's Veranda and Lost Coast Designs.

For this card I used the Three Waiters stamp and the Loopy Background stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs, and the Piece of Cake clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

For the background, I took a square piece of vintage book paper and, using a glue stick, glued a piece of decorative decoupage paper atop it.  I then stamped that with the Loopy Background stamp using black ink.  I edged it with the same black ink.

Next I stamped my 3 waiters onto a white scrap with black ink and fussy cut it out, edging it with Distress Vintage Photo Ink.  The only color I added was some Copic Sketch Marker to their hands and faces.  I then attached them to the center of my card front.
The sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a white square edged in black ink and positioned as shown in the lower left corner.

We are excited to see what fun things you come up with for this newest challenge here on the Portal!
