'Tis the season

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good afternoon, Cathy here a bit late for the blog post.

Stamps Used.

I started out stamping the Art Doll in black ink and then I made a tag from it. I then stamped a snowflake in red in from the Small snowflake set .around the tag. I then edged it in brown and I found a pattern paper that had red snowflakes on it to layer the tag.
Then< I added some tape and Christmas ephemera around. I then added it to a red plaid card base.

Come join the fun and show us your festive fun.

#132 Challenge Art dolls and diva's. I made a Prima ballerina

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, have you recovered from Halloween yet?
Gail, our team leader has come up with a lovely challenge for you.
Art dolls or Divas.
Super fun, let your braincells work hard for this challenge.

I made a vintage Prima Ballerina.
And this is what I used for it:

For the wings, LCD More bugs the bee.

1st layer of the skirt, LCD pieces of calligraphy.

2nd layer of the skirt, LCD pieces of architecture.

I used the Spellbinders art doll die for the legs.
And for the skirt the sizzix rosettes.

I stamped the stamps with Stazon Timber brown.
For the coloring, distress ink.
bundled sage,
victorian velvet,
tattered rose,
antique linen,
speckled egg,
scatter straw,
old paper,
walnut stain.
Water resistant fineliner, preferably in dark brown.
Nuvo aqua shimmer.
A small flower to glue on the waist

And this is how I made the prima ballerina.
First I stamped all the parts on white paper.
Started with a thin layer of Antique linen.
Then colored her with the pinks and speckled egg.
I colored her hair with Scattered straw.
I sponged the legs first with Antique linen and then with Tattered rose.
Then I drew shoes on the feet with the fineliner.
I colored the wings with Spackled egg and bundledd sage.
When that's dry, go over it lightly with Nuvo aqua shimmer.
With bundled sage the tip of the hat and details on the bodice.
I did the bodice twice and glued them with 3d tape on.
Now for the skirt that is completely stamped with Stazon timber brown.
Stamp the first layer with LCD pieces or calligraphy.
And the second layer with LCD pieces of architecture.
Sponge the edges with Walnut stain.

Now cut everything out and glue her together.
I wrapped a stick with washi tape and glued it to her back.
That way I can put her in something nice, maybe a nice plant.
Or put it in a nice bottle.

I hope I was able to inspire you and that you participate in the challenge.
If enough people participate, the prize is free rubber stamps.
Isn't that fun?
So click on the link and join the fun.

Art Doll Shrine

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good Morning Friends...Ink Stained Roni here with another inspiring project for our current Challenge #95 Winged Things.

It's been a while since I played with Gothic Arches so I thought it would be just the ticket. LCD/CV has so many fun "Winged Things" it was hard to decide which one(s) to use.  I went with the Art Doll for the outside which I paired with the Ledger and Doodle Circles.

But that wasn't enough so I created this on the inside!

I started off by stamping all the fun images...parts from Victoriana, Doors & Windows, Jewel Shrine, Small Cityscape, the Long Swirl and  the Flying Moon.

I then added all sorts of VersaFine Clair inks directly on the Gothic Arch and some through a stencil.  The Flying Moon was stamped on a scrap of paper and colored then mounted on the GA with foam tape.

I used sentiment stickers from Prima and then inked all of the edges with VFC Nocturne ink.

I was so much fun to get inky with this piece...
I hope it has inspired you to join in on the fun.

How to make a pinwheel frame with stamps - Face On Challenge #78

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all,

Lori here, back with an interesting technique featuring a face and paper folding for the "Face On" challenge.  The card below sports a folded pinwheel element that nicely frames a stamped circular face image as the focal point. This folded pinwheel is a fun and easy way to add dimension and character to a project.   See the instructions below for the step by steps.

Lost Coast Designs:
  • Joy Dictionary Background
  • Art Doll
  • Large Swirl
Other Materials:
  • Black and white cardstock
  • Pinter paper
  • Permanent black inpad
  • Embossing powder and ink
  • Fibers
  • Colored pencil
Instructions:

1) Stamp the Joy Dictionary Background stamp onto a piece of white printer paper with permanent ink.  Cover the entire sheet.

2) Cut into 8, 2" x 2" squares.

3) Fold and assemble as demonstrated below:

4) Finished pinwheel should look like this:

5) Stamp Large Swirl onto black card stock with embossing ink, emboss with white embossing powder.

6) Stamp Art Doll image and cut out face.

7) Adhere face to center of pinwheel and pink up the cheeks with a colored pencil.

8) Adhere black embossed card stock panel to top folding, white card base and tie fibers around top of card.

9) Adhere pinwheel element to card as shown below.  Done!

I hope you enjoyed this project and technique!  We would love to see your "Face On" creations and invite you to link your project to the blog post for the "Face On" Challenge.

Happy Day!
Lori

Bottle Cap Art Doll

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all, Roni here with my first inspiration post with Lost Coast Designs & Carmen's Veranda for the Stamped Background challenge.  I love Lost Coast Designs ART Doll and I wanted to coordinate the stamped background to her by using the Domino Border.

I started off by stamping the Domino Border over and over on a white card panel using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. It dries very quickly and is permanent once dry so it's perfect for using with Nuance pigment powders.  After the ink had dried, I sprinkled on the powders and wet to activate. The panel was set aside to dry.

I stamped the ART Doll  onto a piece of white cardstock again using VF Clair Nocturne. I also stamped a second doll face and domino on a scrap of white cardstock at the same time. The images were colored using a waterbrush and Memento Dye inks. I then die-cut the image from the cardstock.  I smashed a bottle cap and colored it with a pink Sharpie, after the ink had dried I glued the face onto the bottle cap and covered with a layer of Sparkle irRESISTible Pico Embellisher. The domino was affixed to the doll with double stick foam.

The domino background panel was affixed to a black card blank, the ART doll die cut image was added to the card and I finished if off with a few matching gemstones.  I hope this card has inspired you to create your own stamped background project for the challenge!
There's still time to play!!!  Be sure to link up your image to the Stamped Background Challenge for your chance to win Lost Coast dollars!
