Black and White Dice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here with some quick last minute inspiration for the Black and White challenge.
I've made a really quick and easy birthday card which I think would be great for the men and boys using Carmen's Veranda Dice Background and a Happy Birthday sentiment from Lost Coast Designs.  I embossed my stamped dice and sentiment with clear embossing powder for a nice glossy look and a bit of texture, but you don't need to do that, so this one is really really quick!
You have until 23.59 PST tonight to join the fun with your black and white, or white and black stamped projects for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

Thanks for dropping by.  Don't forget to check out all the awesome projects from the team and pop back tomorrow for the start of our new challenge.

Challenge #163 Black & White - Let's Celebrate!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends...Roni here with another fun card for the Black and White challenge.

To create this card I used the Circus Dogs set of stamps.  I started by stamping out 3 of the balls on the "sticky" area of a post-it note. This is an easy way to create a reusable mask.  I trimmed each of the 3 masks.

Choose your background paper and trim it to the approximate finished size. Choose a starting point and stamp the first ball, cover it with a mask and start stamping around this initial image in a spiral design adding and moving the masks as you go.  You can see I started near the center behind the "C" in celebrate.

After I was finished with the background I stamped the dogs and an additional ball all of which were trimmed and set aside for the moment.

Next I assembled the card by mounting the background on a black card, I then tore a vellum panel and mounted it over the background. I temporarily placed the dogs and ball in place and stamped the sentiment Let's Celebrate from the Party Words stamp set.  After it had dried I added the dogs and ball to the card using double stick foam tape to pop them off the background.

I hope you are inspired to join in on the fun...

#162 Challenge, Black and white framed Elk skull.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, Riet here,
for the "Black and White" challenge.
I made a real clean and simple card and framed it .

The stamp of the Elk skull is so beautiful that you can really use it alone.
This stamp comes in 3 sizes and I used the largest.
This is 5 x 6 inches and can therefore easily be framed.
I printed the stamp with Heroarts Unicorn.
There is no other ink that stamps so beautifully and clearly on black paper as this one.
Give it plenty of time to dry or dry with the heat tool.

Once dry I colored here and there with the white posca marker.
And really, that's more than enough.
The stamp is beautiful on its own.

You can of course send it as a card.
But you can also frame it like I did.
I like both.
Come and join the challenge, you still have a few days until the end of the month.
Participate and have a chance to win new stamps.

Black and White: Chess King

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hope you are all enjoying this current challenge - Black and White!  It's a real "challenge" to make something with no other colors!  But I had fun piecing together some different background stamps for this card.  I used the following:

Chess King stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the following background stamps, also from
Lost Coast:

And also the Grunge Diamonds background stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

For each of the 5 background stamps, I stamped them with black ink onto white card stock and cut them into 1 1/2 squares.  I then assembled them in rows of three and pasted them to a piece of card stock.  I stitched around the edges with black thread.

The chess king was stamped with black ink onto white card stock and fussy cut out.  I then pasted that to some black card stock and fussy cut around the original image to give it a nice black outline.
It was then affixed to the center of my background panel with some foam tape, and I added some black rhinestones to his crown.

We can't wait to see your black and white projects so be sure to share them here on the Portal!

Beauty in simplicity

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all, Cathy here with a card for you.

Stamps Used:

I started off with some white cardstock and some black ink. I stamped the one of the stamps from the Victoriana across the bottom of the paper and that left a open area on the top so a stamped a stamp from Pieces of Calligraphy on the top. I rounded the edges and added to a black card base.

I hope you can join the challenge here.

Black And White Christmas Elves

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today with a bit more inspiration for the Black and White Challenge.  I often stamp images and leave them uncoloured and when your stamps have as much detail as the ones offered by Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda they always look really good just as they are.   I decided to try a Christmas card and recruited Carmen's Veranda Elf with Star and Elf for the starring roles.
I kept this a one layer card by using masks on the elves.  I stamped Elf with Star and Elf, masked them and stamped the edge of Lost Coast Designs Fourth Dimension for the floor and the vertical Merry Christmas in black.  With the masks still in place I stamped randomly with one of the Small Snowflakes and grey archival ink.  Unmask and magic!!!  I went round the edge with a black promarker to give a nice framed finish.
Join the fun with your black and white, or white and black stamped projects for a chance
to win Lost Coast dollars.

#162 Challenge Black and White.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

 Hello all, Riet here.
Yesterday the black and white challenge started.
Quite a challenge for me because I almost always work with color.
After a long time of thinking I finally managed to make a card without color.
This is what I used for this card:

Versafine onyx black.
Marabu Art crayon black,
or neocolor II or FC Gelatos will do.
Masking tape.
.Black fineliner.

How to make the card.
Stamp the moth and mask it.

Stamp the girl with curl and mask it.

Stamp the ledger stamp over the girl with curls.

Stamp a few moth stamps to fill up the background.

With the black crayon we are going to put some stripes
on the edge of the card and around the stamp of the girl.
also a little on her cheeks.
We wipe it out with a damp finger.
With a fineliner we now put some scratched stripes and scratches on the edges of the card and around the girl.

From the Misc words sheet I take the word "Beautiful".
Stamp it and cut it out.
Use the chalk to make some shadow on it.
Matte it with black paper.
I made a white and black mat around the card.
Do you feel like participating?
You are very welcome,
and if you participate you have a chance to win new stamps.
That's nice right?
Click on the link and join.
Good luck and till next time.

Black and White: Fish Collage

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Laurie here and so glad you are back and hope you are planning to take part in this latest challenge:  Black and White.  I've made a card for this one using the Mini Fish Collage stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  Since the theme is black and white, I stuck to this and only used those two colors.  Harder than I thought it might be!  But the design is super simple.

My mini fish collage is stamped with black ink onto a white rough edged square of paper.  I edged the square with black ink and layered it with a piece of black card stock.  I added a black gem for the fish's eye.  The background layer is a piece of rice paper in a black and white pattern, also edged in black ink.  I attached the fish collage with foam tape to the center.  So easy but the black and white color scheme is always striking.

Come join the fun and share your black and white makes here on the Portal!

Spring has Sprung: Birds of Spring

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, welcome again to our Spring has Sprung Challenge! There are a few days left for you to participate. :-)
Today I'd love to show you a big square card using only two stamps:  LCD Shrubbery and CV Birds Collage background.

I started by inking a big piece of white cardstock with Distress inks and water. I used Wild Honey, Mermaid Logoon and Picked Raspberry. After drying I stamped the birds stamp with black StazOn ink. With a black marker I drew some lines to ,finish` the image. (some birds, branches and leaves are only half on the stamp). I stamped some parts of the Shrubbery stamp here and there at the edges with a rainbow ink pad (Big and Juicy). I bleached the birds and leaves and coloured the image with colour pencils.

See you next time!

Black Rabbit Spring

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today and our challenge at the moment is Spring has Sprung.  Not here it hasn't!!  Sunny but cold and snow on the ground!  I suppose it does give the whole place that wedding cake look, but I would much rather more green!   So I decided to make a card featuring Rabbit and a green bubbly background in the hopes it will encourage Spring to spring.

I stamped Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Circles three times with light green ink, then three times with dark green ink, off-setting the circles.  I wanted to add a little colour so I used the small round Shadow Frame stamp and the light green ink and stamped randomly on the doodle circle background.  I stamped Lost Coast Designs Rabbit with Flowers on white card using black ink and fussy cut it.  Did you know it the year of the black rabbit according to the Chinese calendar.  I decided to cut my stamped background panel and incorporate an unstamped strip to give more contrast with my black rabbit.

I hope this bubbly green background will encourage some spring feelings.
Link up your spring themed stamped anythings for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

Thanks for dropping by.

Don't forget to have a look at all the other lovely spring makes from the team.

Forest God card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, Cathy here with a card for you today.
Stamps Used:

I started out with some watercolor paper. I stamped Forest God Square in the middle of the paper and I did try to heat emboss it with black embossing power but I was to slow, so only some of it got embossed.
I then stamped randomly a stamp from the Pieces of Calligraphy around the Forest God Square.
To color it in I used the new Tim Holtz watercolor pencils. It was my first time using them. The are fun to use and easy. I just colored the paper and used a water brush to blend the colors.
Mounted it on some orange cardstock because I splattered some orange in the background. Added some white highlights around the Forest God Square stamp and last I added it to a black card base.

Spring Has Spring - Happy Spring Home Decor

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Roni here...today I have a fun project inspired by this fun giant size bottle cap from the Dollar Tree.
Do you ever just see something and know you've got to have it because it will make a perfect project starter? I KNEW that this bottle cap would make the perfect so I bought it on the spot.

It's metal so I started off by adding a layer of color with AI...a couple shades of green for the grass and blues for the sky.  I then stamped the Daisy Flourish over the AI using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  It took a while to dry but it really looks so nice IRL.  I stamped several extra daisies onto yellow and pink cardstock and fussy cut them to add later.

Next I stamped the bunny onto a vintage book page and the duck on yellow cardstock (Duck & Bunny).  I used colored pencils to add some shading to each of the little guys then cut them out.  These were mounted onto the bottle cap using double stick foam to pop them off the surface.

I then adhered the sticker sentiments and glued the flowers down here and there.  I used Diamond Painting drills for the centers of each of the flowers.  I then added a bit of twine to hang it and called it done!

I hope you're inspired to join in on the fun....

Spring Has Sprung: Tulip Gnome

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings from Laurie on this 2nd day of March and second day of our "Spring Has Sprung" challenge.  I've made a tag for this one using the Gnome with Tulip stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  It's just one of a whole collection of fun gnome stamps over at Lost Coast Designs.

My tag is made with tissue paper on a gel plate in place of regular paper.  It's obviously more fragile than regular paper, so be gentle when you are working on the tissue.  I used paints in pink, yellow, and green and a stencil to create the design.  Once dried, this was then glued to a piece of vintage book page.  I rounded the corners and edged this with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink.

My gnome was stamped with black ink onto a white piece of paper and fussy cut out.  I colored him in with Copic Sketch Markers and glued him in the center of my tag.  Final step was to tie a piece of blue seam binding to the top of my tag.

We are excited to see all your spring creations - don't forget to feature rubber stamping in all your projects!
