Onto an alcohol inked glossy background card I stamped Grunge Flower Profile with black StazOn ink and masked her. I stamped the big Shrubbery stamp with Blazing Red and Black StazOn ink. I made a shadow around the woman with black ink and removed the mask. I finished with some glitter glue and texts from Misc. Words.

Say Cheese

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!!  Gail here today with a little inspiration for the Silhouette challenge.
I've made a tag using Lost Coast Designs Mouse 3.  I sat him on top of a 'cheese' which I made by stamping Lost Coast Designs Crackle Background with Dandelion archival ink at an angle on my die cut tag.  I used a marker to make the edges of the stamped image solid and the Happy Birthday is from the Party Words set.
You have until the end of the month  to link up your Silhouette projects for a chance
to win Lost Coast dollars!!

Silhouettes: Raven

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Glad you are back here on the Portal for our continuing "Silhouettes" Challenge.  Laurie with you again with a card I made using the Raven with Branches stamp and the Large Chicken Wire background stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs.

The base for my card is a page from a vintage text book onto which I have glued a piece of Tim Holtz black and white patterned tissue paper.  I trimmed this to a square and edged it with black.
My raven was stamped onto white card stock with black ink and fussy cut out.  I then die cut a stitch-edged circle out of dark red paper and stamped the chicken wire background stamp onto it, also using black ink.  This was positioned in the center of my card base and the raven glued into the center of that.  I added a vintage looking label to the lower right corner.

Come join us for this challenge before the end of the month for a chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

Born To Stand Out

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Saturday! It's Sue here, and today  I'm happy to be sharing my second project for our silhouette challenge. This time it's a page in my hand made Lost Coast album.

I started by roughly inking a background on some card.

Then I added some white acrylic stars using my homemade star stencils.

Then I added some more stencilling using pastel coloured paints.

Then lots of stamping. I've used my lovely ballerina, and also the silhouette angel around the sides.

And this is how she looks when she's added to my album. Where else could you get to see a silhouette ballerina next to Carmen Mooranda!

These are the lovely stamps, I've used;
Born To Stand Out

I hope that you like this, and also that you join in with our fun challenge for the chance to win some Lost Coast $'s

Have a great weekend, and thanks so much for looking x

Good Morning

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here today with some quick and easy inspiration for the Silhouette Challenge.
I made a simple background using distress ink.  I die cut a circle in a scrap of card to mask for the red/orange sun and then blended a little orange and blues to make the sky.   I stamped Lost Coast Designs Trees Background with black archival and cut the panel with a stitch die.  I edged with black and mounted on a base.  Quick and easy!   Sentiment choice is undecided.  I thought birthday? thanks? hello? sympathy??   A useful card to have....

Backgrounds in Focus: Magic Mosaic

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi dear stampers,

Today I (Liesbeth) would love to show you a mosaic card, made of the background stamp Tron, fot our ,Backgrounds in Focus' challenge. Today is the final day for you to join the background fun ;-) Tomorrow a new challenge!

Using a rainbow ink pad I stamped the big Tron stamp into a white piece of cardstock. I coloured the different ,windows' with water colour pencils and water, in different colours. Here and there I let the colours flow a bit, wet in wet. Let dry well. I stamped the word Magic, from the stamp set Doodle Words with black ink and coloured it with a yellow pencil. I finished with a charcoal shadow around the letters and a black sponged edge.
Hope you like this simple idea! See you next time!

Background in Focus: Cottontail

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, it's Laurie again with another project for our "Background in Focus" challenge.  If you are anything like me, you have a lot of background stamps in your craft stash, so here is your chance to focus on some of those by bringing those backgrounds to the foreground.

The stamps I have used here are:

My background shrubbery was stamped with green Distress Oxide ink onto a piece of scrapbook paper.  I edged that panel with the same green ink.  The bunny was stamped onto white paper with black ink and fussy cut out.  I colored him with Copic Sketch markers and added a touch of Glossy Accents to his eye.  I attached him to the card front as shown, using foam tape.  The final step was to stamp the Swirls and Dots border stamp onto a piece of strip of light green paper and affix it to the left side of the card front.

Please join the fun for the challenge and get creative with your background stamps.  You have a chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

149th challenge, Background in focus.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello blog visitor, Riet here.
Today I have a colorful card for the challenge at Lost Coast designs.
So I thought I'd go ahead and make it very colorful.
I used the versatile LCD background stamp Bubbles.
Together with the Anchor Fish and a text from the sheet Party words.
I also used Lalinea shadowpaint and white embossing powder and Versamark.
And now the explanation of how the card is made.
I used lalinea shadowpaint, which is an ink/watercolor with very bright colours.
'

The colors of this ink also flow very nicely together.
I started with the bubbles stamp and stamped it on the paper with Versamark.
Sprinkle with the white embossing powder and heatset it.

Take a paintbrush and different colors of the ink.

Color in the stamp with the ink, and this does not have to be neat,
the colors should be mixed.
Be careful that it doesn't turn into brown mud.

Let dry well, repeat the whole process with the anchor fish and the text.

I stuck a black paper behind the text and fish.
Then the fish and text stand out better.
Just matt with black and you're done.

Actually an easy card with a lot of impact.
Now I'm curious what you make with your background.
Join the challenge and have a chance to win new rubber stamps.
You can even participate with other brands, as long as there are stamps on your work
I hope to see you at the challenge and wish you goodluck.

It's All About The Background

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Saturday, welcome to the weekend!

It's Sue here, and today I'm sharing a card that I made for our Backgrounds In Focus challenge.  I think this one holds the record for the most stamps used by me on a card lol.

I've been seeing lots of retiform lately, with some beautiful examples from my blogging friend Angela (Felix The Crafty Cat). I must admit, I'd no idea how it was done, but I knew that I liked it. So, much YouTube watching later I decided to give it a go!

I made my grid with a blue distress ink and a blender.

Then I added some stamping - LOTS of stamping. I really like how these two colours look together.

I told you I used a lot of stamps!

These are the ones that I've used;

Pieces of Caligraphy

Leonardo Accessories

Steampunk Fly Girl

Steampunk Icarus

Steampunk Pony

Misc Words

CV Leonardo Man

There's still lots of time to join in with our challenge, so please get stamping and remember to keep the Background In Focus.

Take care, and thanks so much for looking x

Backgrounds in focus: Tree & moon

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone! As Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda come with lots of beautiful backgrounds stamps I LOVE this topic! for our new challenge ,Backgrounds in Focus we use them as the most important image.

Here I used the big Grunge tree background stamp, I just stamped it with black waterproof ink onto a white card. I punched a two inch circle from masking paper and added the mask on top of the card. I sponged the card with Stormy sky, Broken china and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks. Also a tiny bit of black ink around the circle, before I removed the mask. Using the blues and Wild Honey Distress ink I sponged some whiffs of colour, also on the moon. As the finishing touch I stamped the Carte Postale stamp at the bottom of the card.

Hope you give it a try and participate our challenge! See you next time!

#149 Background in focus, the new challenge at lost Coast designs.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Riet here with a new step by step tutorial.
What a nice challenge to expose the background stamps.
LCD has very nice background stamps, which can ease take a leading role in your project.

Now the description of this card.
What did I use:
LCD Background stamp Gears 2 and,
Distress Oxide: Saltwater taffy, Peacock feathers, Bundled sage,
Crackling campfire, Ground espresso
Distressink: Vintage photo, , Antique linen, Walnut stane.
Stazon Timber brown.
Markers or color pencils.
Gold glitter for the wings.
White gel pen.

And this is how I made the card.
Spread the 3 colors over your craft sheet and spray a little bit of water.
Pass your paper through this.
Let it dry well between colors.
With Distress oxide Ground espresso we now stamp the background.
We repeat this with Distress oxide Crackled campfire.
Let it dry very well.
And this is what it looks like, as if the gears have rusted.

With these 3 colors you sponge the edges, starting with the lightest.
With some brown paint or ink we make some stains on the background.

Stamp the dragonfly on a clean pice of paper and on to the background.
Color the dragonfly and give the wings a little bit of gold shimmer.
Cut the dragonfly out.
Gleu only the body on the card and make it look if it fly's away.
Make a banner with the dragonfly text the same way as the card.
Stick on with raised tape, mat the card with brown cardboard.
Now your done, hope you have fun with the card.
Now it's up to you, show your idea with a background stamp.
Join the challenge and maybe you'll win new stamps.
You can even enter with other brands.
Please read the rules to avoid misunderstandings.
