31 Days of Halloween: Day 29

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie as we close in on the last days of October and the end of our annual "31 Days of Halloween" Challenge.  We hope you have been playing along with us all month.  I have one final project for this challenge using the Evil Eye stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  Such a wicked looking stamp - I love it!

The background for this one was made using a stencil with a lot of small detail to it.  I sprayed the stencil with Distress Ink in Fired Brick then laid it down onto a piece of white card stock.  I sponged the excess ink with a paper towel and dried the paper well.  I then splattered it with dark blue Distress Ink and spritzed it with Distress Mica Spray.

The Evil Eye was stamped with black ink onto some white card stock and colored with Copic Sketch markers.  It was fussy cut out and Glossy Accents was added to the eyes.  I affixed it to my card front with some foam tape to give it some dimension and added a few die cut bats to complete the "mood".

So hurry and get your projects in before month end for the chance to win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 27 - The Darkest Hours

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Something a bit different today...as you know we're doing the 31 Days of Halloween but we're also playing along with the Kitty theme - well today I combined them for this card.

I used the Spiderwebs background stamp which I dabbed here and there over a piece of green cardstock.  I then inked it up a bit with a few different colors of ink - browns, purple and black.  Next I stamped the Tiger Cat onto a piece of white cardstock and colored him using markers.  He was fussy cut and mounted on the card using foam tape. The sentiment (from my stash) was then matted and tucked under the kitty to look like he was setting on it.

#177 Day 26, 31 Days of Halloween and Cat Challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello all.
Well it's almost Halloween and my last contribution to the cats Halloween challenge.

These are the stamps I used.
The pumpkin is hand drawn.

I started by stamping and masking the cat.
I drew a pumpkin under the cat and also masked it.
I stamped the gnome witch at the top left.
It is available in 2 sizes,
a larger one and a small one on a sheet of mini gnome stamps.
I masked the witch.
I stamped the dancing skeletons underneath the witch with versamark.
I colored the left side of the card and the dancing skeletons with a lilac pan pastel.
I colored the edges of the left half of the card,
with an ink blending tool and Distress ink Dusty Concord.
Did the same on the right side, but with Seedless preserves.
Then I removed the masks and colored the witch, cat and pumpkin with Derwent colorsoft.
I stamped the text with black ink.
And finally I put a drop of Glossy accents on the cat's pupils.
Small detail but still a big difference.
Well that's it for this time.
The challenge lasts until the end of the month, so you can still participate.
Click on the link and show us what you made.
And maybe you will be the new winner of some LCD or CV stamps.

31 Days of Halloween #24 - A Kindred Spirit

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today I wanted to share our little furry friend and her Kindred Spirit.

To create this card I used a mask and ink to create the moon on a purple piece of cardstock - I used the negative image to add white ink to the center of the moon.  I then stamped the Gnome Witch on a Broom with grey ink and colored using a variety of markers. I stamped Cat 1 from Carrie's Menagerie so it was setting on the edge of the broom handle.  To finish off the panel I used a dry brush to add the feeling of motion to the witch/broom.  This panel was mounted onto a lavender card which was stamped with the Flying Birds background from Carmen's Veranda. I added the sparklie bow/ribbon and sentiment to finish the card off.

Hope you join in on the fun!!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 21

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Laurie back again with a Day of the Dead card for our 21st day of the Halloween month long Challenge.  I hope you have been making some fun projects to share here on the Portal and a chance to win some free stamps.

This card features the Coatlique Day of the Dead stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  This was stamped onto a piece of vellum with black Stayz On ink. Once the ink was dry, I flipped the image over and adhered it to a piece of orange card stock.  I trimmed the edges, following the design of the stamp, then layered this with a piece of black card stock and trimmed it in the same shape.

My background is made with a technique called "Stencil Smooshing".  Not sure if that is the technical name or not, but the You Tube video where I found this calls it that, and it's appropriate.

I took my stencil and sprayed it with orange Distress Ink.  I turned it over and pressed it onto a piece of white card stock, mopping up the excess ink with a paper towel.  Once it was completely dry, I repositioned the stencil atop the the paper, lining it up exactly, then dabbed the white spaces with some green Distress Ink.  I removed the stencil and spritzed it with Altnew gold spray ink and let that dry.  The DOD stamped image was then affixed to the center of the card with foam tape and layered with a piece of white card stock.

You still have lots of time left to show us your fabulous Halloween creations, and we can't wait to see them!!

31 days of Halloween- day 20 Cats

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

 Hello everyone, Riet here.
Are you in the Halloween mood yet?
Well I do, and I love it!!!!
The Lost Coast Designs Halloween challenge actually consists of 2 parts.
The first part is a general Halloween challenge.
The second part is a Halloween cats challenge.
So I picked up my favorite cat and made a card with it.
The "Devil in disguise".

What I used:

Distressink Walnut stain
White gelly pen
Masking tape
Red Posca marker
Versfine onyx black
Derwent inktense pencils,
But you can use other pencils or markers.

How to make the card.
I stamped the cat with the Versafine,
Masked the cat and stamp the window with Versafine black.
Stamped the window on a piece of paper
and cut out the 4 windows.
With the mask still on the cat, place the paper frame on the card as a mask.
Stamp the grunge tree in the window.
Now remove the masks.
Use a 2cm/0.8inch circle punch to punch a circle of masking tape.
Stick it on the window, this will become the moon.
Now we are going to color the sky and the moon.
I used Derwent inktense for this.
The cat wings and hoorns are colored with a red Posca marker.
The points of the staff are also colored with the red posca marker.
The background is also colored with a Derwent pencil.
With an ink blending tool I applied some Distressink Walnut stain to the edges.
Stamped the words on a peace of paper and blended some walnutstone on the edges.
Glued it on with foam tape.
Now you are done.

Hope you will join the challenge, and maybe you wil be our next winner
of new rubberstamps.

31 Days of Halloween Day 17 - Mummy and Frank Play Tic Tac Toe

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designsra and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!   Gail here today for day 17 of our spookfest here at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  I've made a game!!!!!  And learnt that canary yellow is maybe not good staging for photographs.  Ah well....... here's my Mummy and Frank themed tic tac toe

I started with an MDF tic tac toe kit.
You need 5 of each piece so I stamped Lost Coast Designs Frank and Mummy on white shrink plastic.
While waiting for ink to dry I stamped masses of different stamps from Lost Coast Designs directly onto the base board using midnight blue archival ink and masks.  Any gaps I filled in afterwards with sky blue archival ink and all the stamps from Pieces of Calligraphy.  Added a few Flying Monkeys from Carmen's Veranda at the top and I used Lost Coast Designs Gargoyle, Witch Cat, Goth Shrine, MRaven1, MRaven2, Dancing Skeletons, Sugar Skull with Flower and White Nose Sugar Skull.
Then I glued the edge and divider pieces in place.
I coloured the images stamped on the shrink plastic with distress markers and sharpies, fussy cut them and shrunk them with my heat gun.
I thought the X's and O's looked a bit plain so I stamped them with two of the text stamps from Pieces of Calligraphy and glued the shrunken Mummy's and Franks in place.

Link up your Halloween inspired projects.  Anything related to the season, spooky, fruity, fun, scary or cute.  Real rubber or clear stamping and the theme must be the focus of your project for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars$$$$.

Check back every day this month for awesome inspiration from the team
