B is for Bottles by Roni

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello friends...Roni here with another "B" project to inspire and encourage you to join in on the "B" fun while there is still time!

This card was made using the lovely Perfume Bottles set of stamps.
I just love these as they are so versatile and the coloring/embellishing options are endless.

Each bottle was stamped 3 times...once for the bottle, ones for the label and a third time for the "extras" either the bottle cap, accent or ribbon.

I colored them with a combination of markers, colored pencils and even a bit of watercoloring thrown in for good measure.

After everything had dried I fussy cut it all out, layered and glued it all down.

The background is the revers of a stencil and words from the "Misc. Words" sheet of stamps.

Hope you join in the fun!!

Butterfly Trio with Roni

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends!

Today I wanted to share a card that was inspired by challenge #56 - "Things that Start with "B"!

I knew I wanted to make a butterfly card so I stamped 3 of the 5 butterflies from the "Butterfly Set" onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I then scribbled Marabu Art Crayons onto my craft mat and began to play! I used a waterbrush to mix and pick up the medium to paint each butterfly.

After each butterfly had been painted and the paint allowed to dry I fussy cut them each out of the cardstock.

I created a background for the butterflies, again using Marabu Art Crayons (for more information on how I went about creating this background, please see - B is for Butterfly).

Next I roughly placed the butterflies on the panel to determine correct placement. Once satisfied with the lay-out I stamped the butterfly directly on the green panel - by doing so I didn't have to worry about cutting around all of the little antenna since they are already on the card!

I stamped the sentiment (Art Wings to Fly) among the butterfly images then mounted the water colored butterflies over the stamped butterflies.  I gave them a bit of dimension by gluing their bodies directly to the panel but adhering the wings to the card using double stick foam tape.

Hope this has inspired you to play along with our challenge!

Blue Button Butterfly Girl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello from Laurie with another project for the Something that Starts with B challenge.
I made this card using the Button Girl stamp from Lost Coast Designs.
I stamped my Button Girl onto white card stock with black ink.  I gave her face some color and colored her hair brown. I used Copic Sketch markers for all the color on this card.
I then colored her butterfly wings with three shades of blue and added some a few touches of white with a Gel pen.  I colored the lettering on her dress with blue as well and added a bit of gray to darken up her boots.

I cut her out and glued on two white buttons and some lace trim to the bottom of her dress.  When I cut her out, I did not cut the "halo" she is wearing.  I decided even my pretty good fussy cutting skills were not up to that!  So once she was all finished, I stamped her head onto some blue patterned scrapbook paper, then I glued my completed girl on top so that her "halo" shows.  I dotted the circles in her halo with white Nuvo Crystal drops.  I stamped some mini flowers over the background with blue ink and dotted the centers with white.
Finally I outlined the edges with blue marker and layered the finished piece with a piece of white card stock.

Wouldn't this be a fun card for some special little girl?
Show us what you can create that starts with the Letter B!!

Bee and Butterfly

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with my things that start with B.
I started out with a paper Mache ornament and  painted it with some art alchemy dark velvet color paint. As that was drying I took a die and made the crest and leaves out of Kraft cardstock. Then I stamped the bee from the bugz set  on the crest.  I thought it needed more so I stamped the mini crown from mini crowns set.  Edged the crest with some brown distress ink and set aside. Then I colored the leaves with some green distress ink. Set them aside. I did stamp gothic text  on the paper Mache in black ink but you can not see it.
Then you glue everything down. Last I edged the circle with a thin line of black paint.
So I have a bonus card for you. I so forgot I had this one made for the things with a B challenge so you get a bonus idea from me.
It is a CAS card. Well to be truthful. It did not start out that way. I tried using Nuance Powers and painters tape. Didn't work. The tape tore the paper. Insert mad face here. Grrrr. So I just cut the bubble border  out. Added it to a black card front. Then I stamped the butterfly on the torn paper and water colored in. I did add some sparkle to the wings.
Come take up the challenge of Things that start with B.

Bloke in a Blue Bowler

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!

Happy 4th of July

Gail here today with some inspiration for Lost Coast Designs
I Spy...Something Beginning with B challenge.
And since it's the 4th I thought I'd go red, white and Blue.

I have used Carmen's Veranda Charlie Chaplin, An Apple a Day sentiment and the gorgeous Lost Coast Designs Shooting Star background.
I started by stamping and embossing Charlie with black embossing powder and fussy cut him.  Then I stamped his hat and embossed it with blue glitter embossing powder.  This is a party afterall!!  With this stamp the top of his hat is chopped off but I simply extended and rounded it when I fussy cut it.  I was going to use the blue glitter powder on the top as well, but decided to go with the red instead.  Bling!!  Which is also a B word!  I added a bit of detail with a white gel pen and a couple of blue polka dot bows.

I stamped the Shooting Star background using blue die ink.  Isn't that lovely!!  Or maybe I should say Beautiful!!
I used Sizzix Deckle Edge die to cut the blue panel, stamped the sentiment and edged the panel with the blue dye ink and mounted everything on a red base card.

A Bloke in a Blue Blingy Bowler!!

How many Things Beginning with B can you get on your stamped makes??  Join the fun for your chance to win Lost Coast dollars.

Keep It Shut!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Good morning and happy Monday. It's Sue here again and I'm going to show you how I made my mini book for the 'Something Beginning With B Challenge'

I started by cutting out my pages and covers with the Eileen Hull Passport die. I've used chipboard for the covers as it's nice and strong.

You saw these guys yesterday - this is the inside of the front cover.

And this is the inside of the back. They've both just been stamped and heat embossed - nothing fancy needed to show off these fab stamps.

For the binding of the book I've used canvas so that it will stand up to wear and tear. I've coloured it with Distress Inks, then stamped the Large Chickenwire Background. Onto a piece of white card I've stamped Feather Bird and heat embossed him. Then I've stamped the Doodle Circles over the top with Distress Oxides, wiped away any that went over the bird, then clear embossed. Then I've just attached the front and the inside front panel to the chipboard and the binding, added some twine and we're all done!
Who's a pretty boy then! I love the Carmen's Veranda sentiment My Greatest Accomplishment, it just about sums up my life lol.
Of course there is a back cover too, buy you'll have to come back later in the month to see that!
So now you've seen my B's I hope you join in with some of your own - remember there's rubber up for grabs!
Have a fun week, and thanks very much for looking x

Artist Trading Coins

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with some Artist Trading Coins
I started out using a 21/2 inch die because I do not have a punch that size. I must say I like the die because I can see where I want to cut. I started out making the middle of the ATCoin. I wanted them to me sturdy so I cut some 100lb weight cardstock and glued 2 of them together. You can use cardstock you really don't care for anymore because you will be covering it up with a top and bottom piece.
This one I have used Alcohol ink and just run my paper through it on a craft sheet. Next I stamped the doodles circles on it. On scrap white paper stamp the duck and color with Copic markers. Cut out. Add bunny ears on top of duck. Then glue duck to ATCoin and add saying. Edge with black ink and glue to middle.
This one I also started with Alcohol inks. I then stamped Adrien on the ATCoin. I made a mask and then I stamped doodle circle for the background. Add saying and edge in black and glue to the middle.
This one I started with distress ink for the start of the ATCoin.  Stamp the doddle circle for the background. Then stamp Happy Cat on ATCoin. On scrap white cardstock stamp Happy Cat and color with Copic markers. Cut out and add to ATCoin. Edge with black ink and add it to the middle.

For the backs of all the ATCoins I used pattern paper that matched the colors on the front.

Clocks and Gears

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie, bringing you another project for the Round and Round Challenge.
For this card, I used the Clock Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda and the Doodle Circles stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  There is a whole collection of the "square" stamps with all sorts of interesting designs at the Carmen's Veranda website.  You can use them individually or used them repeated as a background.

I stamped my square with black onto a piece of white card stock that I had colored with blue and green Distress Inks, blending the colors together.  I layered that with another piece of white paper.  My background is made using Distress Oxide inks on my Gelli plate, once again blending the colors together.  Using black ink I stamped the Doodle Circles onto my background page and colored in the circles with green and blue markers.  I added some crosses to a few of the circles for some added interest.  I then attached my clock gear square atop my background and layered that with a white card base.

So let's see what fabulous creations you can make using circles of any kind!

Altered on the Vintage

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Altered on the Vintage

Hello all,

Lori here!  On one of my latest outings (in the search for vintage treasures), I found a vintage Avon bottle shaped like a pocket watch.  It was so cool that I just had to have it, even though I wasn’t  quite sure what I was going to do with it.
P
I

Then, BAM, the Round & Round challenge came along and an idea just popped into my head.  Let’s alter it with rust effect paste and the  Lost Coast Designs Large Doll Face stamp.

Lost Coast Designs Stamp:
  • Large Doll Face

Materials:
  • Prima, Finnabair – Rust Effect Paste
  • Ranger Archival ink; Jet Black
  • DecoArt Americana DuraClear Matte Varnish
  • DecoArt Americana Premium Gesso, Black
  • Tim Holtz Idea-ology
  • Found items and other embellishments
  • Tissue paper
  • Faber Castell Artist Pitt Pens

Instructions:

1. Apply a coat of black gesso to the pocket watch bottle - every-where except the clock face.
2. Apply rust effect paste to bottle.  Again, every-where except the clock face.
3.  Stamp Large Doll Face onto tissue paper with Archival Ink and cut out.  Adhere over clock face with Matte Varnish. Allow to dry.
4. Use Artist Pitt Pens to add color to the doll face.
5. Embellish with gears, wings, and other embellishments (that have also been treated with rust effect paste).
6. Seal the entire piece with matte varnish

Done!!

Now I really want to see your Round & Round challenge project so be sure to LINK your project for a chance to win!

Happy day!
Lori

Round and Round by Sue

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and happy Friday. It's Sue here and I'm really happy to be sharing my piece for our fun Round and Round challenge.

I started by making an inky background with some stencils and Distress Inks.

Then I die cut some circles to stamp through. Is this a stencil or a mask, I'm not quite sure, but it does both so it could be a stask or a maskil. Anyway I stamped the lovely Lost Coast Designs Chloe Collage through it with some Wendy Vecchi gray ink.

Then I stamped other images from Leonardo's Accessories Set  in brown and plum.

Now it was time for the scarey bit! I outlined all of my circles with a black Stabilo pencil then hit it with the water spray. The watercolour pencil spread out beautifully, I just blotted with kitchen towel before it ran all over the page. I also did a little gentle splatter with other watercolour pencils.

And there we are, all done and sewn into my journal.
There's still a week left for you to join in with our challenge.  Link up your stamped makes featuring circles for a chance to win Lost Coast Dollars!!
Have a great weekend, and thanks very much for looking x
