Brunhilda Sings

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today.  I hope you have had a very merry merry and many happy jingles over the festive period.   Only a few days til the end of year celebrations and the start of a new year with new chances and possibilities.  Over at Lost Coast Designs there are some fabtastic new designs!!  Cathy shared some makes with the new stamps in the previous post.  Today I have used Brunhilda and made a wintery scene.
I love this lusty viking queen.  She is such a fun lady.  I decided to put her on one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions - Preikestolen!
There she is!!!  OK, maybe not.....  You can find this and other pictures here incase you want to see more.  They describe it as 'a cliff in Norway'.  Well, yes, but it's a very impressive cliff!!!  A square of rock jutting out from the mountain and 600m (almost 2000ft) above the fjord.  Been there a few times myself.  Impressive.
So I used my phenomenal drawing skills and distress inks to give her a rock to stand on.  I stamped and embossed Brunhilda first, but would probably not bother with the embossing next time because it's such a detailled stamp and even with fine powder you lose a bit of detail.  I've coloured her with distress inks, white gel pen and silver pilot marker and then went a bit crazy with the glitter glue.
I gave the background a watercolour wash with blue shades and cut snowflakes from silver glitter paper using Poppystamps Snowflake Collage die.

There is still time to join our

COLD AND FROSTY CHALLENGE

Thanks for dropping by.  Leave me a little love so I know you passed by and I hope you have a wonderful and safe New Year celebration.  Hugz

Happy Skull Christmas!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Roni here today with an alternative Christmas card!

This card was created using the Skull Christmas stamp by Teri Sherman. It was colored using Memento Dual Tip Markers and a bit of Memento Ink which was watercolored using a waterbrush.  I fussy cut the image and affixed it to the background mat, added the sentiment and mounted it all on a blue card base.

It really is quite creepy don't you think?

There's still time to join in the Cold & Frosty fun!

Brrrrr...Cold n Frosty Out

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

I started by stamping the snowman on the base layer with Acorn ink (for the arms).  I then stamped him in black, blue, red and his nose in orange.  I colored then cut apart all of the bits and re-assembled him with both glue and double stick foam tape for a bit of dimension.  I water colored the background "snow" and added some glue & glitter and I did the same in the darker blue areas of the snowman.  Finally I stamped the sentiment and mounted it on a blue plaid card blank.

Hope you have time to join us in the fun this month...

Let It Snow!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi to all from Laurie with a happy Snowman bringing you Cold and Frosty greetings for the first part of the December challenge on the Lost Coast Portal.  We want to see what you can create using the theme:  Cold and Frosty.

For this card, I used the Snowman stamp from Carmen's Veranda.  I like how he looks a bit old fashioned.  I stamped him onto white card stock with black ink and cut him out.  I then restamped his scarf and buttons with blue ink, cut those out, and superimposed them onto my original stamped image.  I colored his twig arms brown and gave him some "eyes of coal" using black rhinestones.  I originally colored his carrot nose with an orange marker but it did not show up well, so I cut a little nose for him from some orange paper.

My background was created using blue paint which I spread on my Gelli plate with a brayer.  I then pressed a piece of white paper to the plate and pulled a print of just plain blue.  I mixed some white paint with some water, and using a spatter brush, spattered the white paint onto my blue background to look like snow falling.

I adhered my snowman to the card front with foam tape.  I found a "Let It Snow" sticker in my sticker stash and stuck it onto a larger square of black paper.  I cut out and added a sign post and affixed the little "sign" to the lower edge as shown.  Final step was to add a top hat to Mr. Snowman and adhere the finished card front to a piece of white card stock.

Blue SnowWolf Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi all. Cathy here with my take on Cold and Frosty.
Stamps Used:
          Wolf Queen
Snowflake set

I started out by stamping the  Snowflake set on white cardstock in blue distress ink. This will make your card base. Then cut a blue square and ink the edges with the same blue ink. Glue it on the stamped card base. Set aside.

Stamp Wolf Queen  on Copic friendly paper and color in. I added some blue glitter to the feathers so it has a little sparkle. On the stamp the feathers are held in her hair with a flower. I stamped a snowflake on some scrap paper and colored it in with the same distress ink I used to stamp the Snowflake background. Cut out and cover the flower.

Come show us your cold and frosty makes. You can add them here.

Snowman Serenade

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today.  Winter has taken a firm hold in my part of the world and my thoughts have turned towards Christmas.  I have kept with traditional colours but admit the images are perhaps a little unusual!  These two just seemed to go together and I think it will be a perfect card for a special friend.
Quirky, but cute!!  I've used Carmen's Veranda's Monkey with Banjo and Snow Cowboy with a greeting from Lost Coast Designs Misc. Words
I made a simple background, cos at Christmas simple is often best!  I gave my white hammered card base a blue watercolour wash and die cut some snowy hills
I stamped the Snow Cowboy and Monkey with Banjo, coloured them with Promarkers and fussy cut.  I think I may have missed a chance to add some glitter!  The sentiment was stamped with blue dye ink.

Thanks for dropping by.

Rosie is Thinking of You

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

We're giving you a real challenge this fortnight...Cute!!  I know - right?  But Linda made it easy for us because she just released a bunch of fun new stamps that are just darling!  First off the Hard Luck Pixies are sweet as can be and the addition of Creepy Dolls by Carri aren't really all that creepy at all...just well loved!  You can see them all here in the New section!

I am so taken with these little pixies, they are so much fun to color and Rosie leads the pack....she was stamped on white cardstock with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink, I then colored her with Memento Dual Tip makers which were used as a watercolor medium as well as colored directly on the image to add more detail.  The image was die-cut then mounted on a yellow card base, a piece of pattern paper by Authentique and a die-cut sentiment.

I hope this has inspired you to join in on the fun...

Blessing

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

As we celebrate the theme of "Cute" this second half of November, I found the perfect Lost Coast Designs stamp to use - The Little Pilgrim.  This is Laurie here bringing you a Thanksgiving
message, and this is one of the oldest Lost Coast stamps I own, and it is still one of my favorites.  I think it's simplicity is brilliant and the look on the Little Pilgrim's face is beautiful.
I stamped Little Pilgrim with black ink onto white card stock and cut her out.  I then colored her with Copic markers, leaving her cap and collar white.  I created my background with a stencil, green and pale yellow acrylic paints, and my Gelli plate.  Using black StazOn ink, I stamped my background - Shrubbery 5.5 " - onto the lower portion of my card base.  I then attached my Little Pilgrim atop and used a sticker with the word "blessing" in the upper left corner.
I edged this in black ink and layered it with a white panel.
We would love for you to join us for this fun cute challenge - everyone has some cute stamps in their stash - so get them out and start stamping.  You might win some free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

And then there's this............
(Orders using this discount will NOT qualify for the combined shipping rebate when ordering
from both Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda)

Happy Thanksgiving!
