Walk of Fame: Salvador Dali

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here showing a card using the nice Carmen's Verandas Dali stamp in the Walk of Fame challenge! For inspiration and how to participate look HERE:-)

On an inked background I first stamped the big circle from the Shadow Frame set with blue Distress ink, and masked it. After that I stamped the pillars (ATC Misc 7 set) and the flourish (Skull Flourish)with black StazOn ink and the spiderweb (Spiderwebs Background) with blue StazOn ink. I took some bleach and a synthetic brush and I bleached the face, the flourishes and big pillars. I finished the card with color pencils, white gel pen and a black fineliner.

Life is Too Short

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend. Only a few short days left in our Walk of Fame challenge...be sure to post your creations for your chance to win!

Today Mona and I are sending you a bit of advice...

To create this card I used purple tape to mask off a piece of watercolor paper and sprinkled various colors of pigment powders. I then used a wet paint brush to swish the colors around until I was satisfied with the results. You can either let the colors dry naturally or speed drying with a heat tool.  Once dry I stamped the No Hat Mona and Stay Weird sentiment with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

You have until the 31st to enter to win!!
Good Luck Friends!

Walk of Fame: Sherlock On the Case

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with a project for the "Walk of Fame" challenge going on until the end of January here on the Portal.

For this card, I used the Sherlock Holmes stamp from Carmen's Veranda and the Ledger background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

I have a box full of Gelli prints that I have made over the past months so I dug around until I found this background page.  It's made with yellow, blue, rust, and gold acrylic paints and a couple of different stencils.  I love how the little touches of blue appear here and there - that's what often happens if you don't clean the paint off your plate before you add some new colors.  You get some of the older paint showing through, which I really like.

I stamped the Ledger background with black StayzOn ink - since it's a painted background regular ink won't dry well.  I stamped Sherlock with black ink onto some cream paper and trimmed around the edges, then inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I affixed him to the center of my background paper with some black photo corners.

The final step was to layer this with blue paper and stitch around the edges with black thread.

We can't wait to see what you can create for the fun famous people challenge!  So come join us!

Everything is possible

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a card for you.
This card I started out using watercolors for the background. It was a purple/blue color. Then I did a wash of Payne's gray. When that was still wet I placed a stencil over top and took a baby wipe to wipe away the color.
I then took the ledger ATC stamp from ATC set 6 and stamped randomly in black ink all over the front. Take a cap from any bottle and ink it up with some black ink to make some circles on the front. Glue to front of a black card base.

Stamp Sherlock on scrap white cardstock and color with Copic and then cut out. Add to corner of card.
Pick out a saying and add to top.

Come join the walk of fame challenge here

Walk of Fame: Butterfly Mona

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the "Walk of Fame" challenge going on right now at the Lost Coast Portal.    And I used one of my favorite Lost Coast stamps for this card:  Flying Mona.

I started by preparing my background; using a square of white card stock, I stenciled across it using complementary shades of green Distress Inks.  I then randomly stamped The Large Chickenwire background stamp using black ink.  Next, I stamped Flying Mona onto white card stock with black ink and cut her out.  The stamp comes with butterfly wings, but I decided to cut those off and add my own pair.  I colored her with Copic markers in yellows and greens to complement her wings.  Before I mounted her to my background, I stamped her headpiece directly onto the background then positioned the cutout image directly over that.

I then stamped my sentiment - Lose Your Shoe from Carmen's Veranda - onto a white square and positioned it as shown in the lower left corner.  Final step was to layer my card front with a piece of olive card stock.

We would love to see your projects featuring famous people, so be sure to post them on the Portal for a chance to win some fabulous free stamps!

Happy New Year My Inky Friends

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Ink Stained Roni here and since it's "Anything Goes" I thought I'd make another New Years card but something a little more unexpected....

Now let me explain a bit... I wanted to look into the future a bit to wish you the very best of luck in the coming year...in comes one of the palm reading hands from the set ATC Hands Set. Next, life is messy...hence the cool background made using the stamp Grunge Black Swirl from CV. I used a piece of map pattern paper to extend these good wishes in all of your travels and of course the sentiment - Happy New Year from the Party Words set.

I hope you all are enjoying the new year so far...may luck follow you where ever you go!

Still time to enter your creation for a chance to win!

Anything Goes: Day 10 - Laurie's Junk Journal

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie and hope this finds you warm and getting 2020 off to a good start.  And what better way to start your creative journey than by taking part in the Lost Coast Challenge for the beginning of January:  Anything Goes.  That means create whatever you want in whatever theme you like, just make sure your project includes some rubber or clear stamping - no digi's!

I have gotten into Junk Journals the past couple of months and one of my projects that I want to tackle this winter is to create my own junk journal.  So I thought I would make something that I could include in my journal - I have been trying to make and collect things so when my journal is done I will have some fun stuff to put in it.
So I made a journal card with a tuck spot for tucking miscellaneous goodies.  For the front of my card, I used a piece of cream card stock measuring 4 1/2 by 3 inches, edged with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.  I stamped the Postcards Background stamp from Carmen's Veranda onto my card using black ink.

Next I stamped The King Chess Piece with black ink onto cream card stock and fussy cut him out.  I punched some small gold circles to decorate his crown and attached him to my journal card.  I then took a piece of heavier vintage book paper and created another card slightly wider than my first one.  I edged it with the same Distress ink then attached the two cards by sewing around all four sides.  Since the top card is smaller, the left edge of it has remained open to create a little tuck spot that you can slide things into.

I stamped a couple of ATC background cards using ATC Misc 6 Set from Lost Coast Designs.  I edged those with distress ink and tucked them, along with a vintage ticket, into my tuck spot, and this is ready to be put into my journal!

I hope you will join us for this first 2020 Challenge!!

Cat and Mouse Games

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!
Gail here today and I am pairing some of the fun NEW Lost Coast Designs Yoga Cats with one of Carmen's Veranda funny, but oh so true sentiments
These cats are just cracking me up!!!!!
This is Yoga Cat 5, doing his thing, and Carmen's Veranda Frozen Internet clear stamp.  I just stamped the cat and the sentiment on my grey woodgrain card base and added a little Spun Sugar distress to his ears and nose.
It was so quick and easy I decide to use the other two base cards I had cut from the 12x12 sheet!!  This is Yoga Cat 4, doing his thing, and Carmen's Veranda Frozen Internet clear stamp.  Well, I know a lot of people this sentiment is perfect for......  Me!  All my girlfriends of a certain age!  Busy executives!  Kids trying to tweet, insta, face it and all those other acronyms!!!!
Actually I think these cats with any of the Carmen's Veranda sentiments are going to be a hit.  This is Yoga Cat 10, doing her thing, and Carmen's Veranda Frozen Internet clear stamp.  I wonder where #8 is??  Probably nipped off for a bit of a nap.....  Laurie also used this cat the other day, but made a much more beautiful background, and used a different sentiment you might be glad to know!
