Hippy groovy gnome with a hat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Goodmorning Cathy here with a hippy gnome card for you.

Stamps Used:

I started out by stamping gnome with sunglasses and coloring him in with copic markers. As I was coloring him it popped in my head to make him a hippy gnome. I layered him on some black cardstock, and I set him aside. So, I made a tie-dye looking background with a 3D embossing folder and some distress inks and a black ink.
Here is a close up of the background I made. I added some glitter sequence to some of the middles of the circles.
Today is the last day to join in on where's my hat challenge.

Magazine Cover Art

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, stamping friends! Aimee here. I just wanted to share with you the recent cover of Rubber Stamp Madness magazine that features two Lost Coast Designs Yoga Cat stamps and the Brush Strokes stamps.
If you're not familiar with this magazine, let me introduce you! It's published quarterly and is a great place to get your creations put into print for all to see. You can learn more about the magazine HERE

Since 2017, I've had my submissions published in every issue. This is my 7th cover! What I love about the magazine is that they welcome submissions that include stamps from any company, even those stamps in your stash that are unidentified. Each issue features two challenge themes, and when I submit a cover, I like to try to incorporate both themes into my art. You can read about upcoming challenges on the Rubber Stamp Madness website.

One challenge due in September is "Say It With Stamps." The magazine is looking for creations with clever sentiments. There are SO MANY perfect options for this using Carmen's Veranda stamps! If you're interested in submititing one of your creations that includes a fun sentiment, the deadline is September 5. They ask that the size not exceed 5 x 6.5 inches (though I think they make exceptions). You can mail it to: Rubber Stamp Madness, PO Box 610, Corvallis, OR 97339. If it's difficult to mail, you can email a JPEG image to graphics@rsmadness.com.

The magazine is really fun to read because you learn about the stamper and their inspiration behind the submission. There are articles that provide tips to stamping techniques and information on where to buy stamps or attend conventions.

I must admit, it totally makes my day when I hear one of my submissions has been selected for publication! I'd love to see you feel that same kind of happiness. Give it a go! The first step in getting published is submitting.

Put On the Hat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi all, Aimee here. There are still a couple of days left in April to enter the Lost Coast Designs "Where's My Hat" Challenge. Here's a card that reflects those times when we need to stand up for ourselves. That being said, I'm a big believer in doing everything with kindness and compassion, so take care not to be too "witchy" haha.
I wanted to use this Mother Goose People stamp for the Challenge, but I didn't have a sentiment stamp in my personal collection that reflected the message I wanted to send. When that happens, I go to the internet to look up quotes that I can handwrite, and that's what I did here. Follow along with this photo tuturial to see how I put the card together:
Happy stamping, everyone!

#196 Where's my hat! challenge.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello dear creative people, Riet here.
Today a card that is easy, so also for the beginning stampers.

These are the stamps I used.

Black inkpad and coloring pencils.

This card is really suitable for beginners and advanced.
I stamped the images with black ink.
Colored the American gothic image with Derwent inktense pencils.
I kept the flower background black/white to get a nice contrast.
And I matted with bright colors to make it a nice whole.

So you see, a nice result with little effort.
And the text is so funny.
I love the texts of Carmens Veranda stamps.
They are so hilarious, and some are really daring.
Take a look there, you will be amazed.

And now for the challenge.
It will run until midnight on April 30th.
So there is still time to make something with a hat.
You can also use stamps from other brands, yes,
it doesn't even have to have an LCD or CV stamp on it.
So get started and participate and maybe you will be our new winner
and get to choose your own prize (Stamps).
Good luck and until next time.

Where's My Hat? Challenge 196 - A Snarky Anniversary Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there!  You've got Kathi here to share another project for April's Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's Challenge 196 "Where's My Hat?"

Here's my snarky anniversary card created with two of the penguins from the Penguin Anthropomorphs Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Designs.

Both stamps were stamped onto white cardstock and onto repositionable sticker paper. The images were colored with Copic markers. White gel pen was used to emphacize the penguins' eyes, then a black fine point multiliner was used to add pupils. Gold and red Stardust Glitter pens were used to add some glitter to his crown, his sceptre, and her hat dangles.

The sticker paper versions of both images were fussy-cut and placed over their counterparts. Repositionable Scotch Tape was placed horizontally across the bottom part of the image panel. Lost Shadow Distress Ink was sponged over the tape and the masked images to add color to the background, then sponged again over a stencil to add pattern and visual interest to the background.

The repositionable Scotch Tape was moved so that it sat on the horizon line, covering the bottom of the top of the image panel. Tan dye ink was sponged over the tape and the masked images to add a floor.

The tape and masks were removed, the image panel was trimmed, edged with a black marker, then adhered to a piece of black cardstock.

Red heart-patterned paper was trimmed to 6.75" x 4.75", edged with a black marker, and adhered to a 5" x 7" black card.

A snarky sticker was edged with a black marker and matted onto a strip of gold cardstock. Gold cardstock was cut four times with a corner die.

The image panel, matted sticker, and corners were adhered to complete the card.

You still have time to enter the April's Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's Challenge 196 "Where's My Hat?"  I hope to see you there!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here again with some more hatty fun.  I think hats are great, and have a lot of stamps with images with hats, but if you don't just add a hat to anyone or anything and join our Where's My Hat? challenge.
I started with a piece of patterned card that had a subtle grid pattern and some blue dots on it.  I cut it with a pierced edge die and mounted on a mid blue card base.  I stamped one of Lost Coast Designs Pieces of Calligraphy stamps with blue ink and also the vertical Happy Birthday sentiment.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Monkey With Banjo on white card, coloured with distress markers, fussy cut and added him to my card.
I hope you get time to join the Where's My Hat? fun.  We need at least 20 entries to award the prize so tell your friends and add your stamped makes featuring headgear to the linky.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!
Gail here today with some classic headgear for the Where's My Hat? Challenge.
I've used Carmen's Veranda Rocking Horse and Southwest Town to make a cowboy scene.

I started with a kraft card base and stamped Southwest Town with brown ink.  Then I blended Fossilized Amber and Salty Ocean distress oxides to make the sand and the sky.  I stamped Rocking Horse on some light grey card, coloured with distress markers and fussy cut just the horse.  Such a fun little cowboy on his horse.

Hope you get time to join the Where's My Hat? fun.  We need at least 20 entries to award the prize so tell your friends and add your stamped makes featuring headgear to the linky.

Where's My Hat Challenge #196 - Unsupervised Dunce Hat Cat

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a card created for the April Where's My Hat Challenge #196 with the Fluffy Cat Rubber Stamp from the Party Cat Rubber Stamp Set

Here's the card!

I have a pair of mischievious white cats, Domino and the aptly named Harley Quinn. They're littermates, who don't really get along, but occasionally conspire to create enough chaos that I really would like to put dunce caps on them, but I like my hands attached to my arms.

Anyway, the Fluffy Cat was stamped twice with Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. The image panel was heat set. The Fluffy Cat on the image panel was colored with Copic markers to make him look like Domino.

The repositionable sticker paper version of the Fluffy Cat was fussy-cut and placed over his counterpart on the image panel.

They took a ride through my Big Shot inside of a rectangle cutting die to be die-cut, then were kept inside the cutting die by securing the die to the back of the panel with low-tack tape. I brushed yellow and two grey dye inks over the die onto the image panel die-cut with the masked images to leave a nice white border around the inked image panel.

The image panel die-cut was removed from the die-cut and set aside.

Patterned paper was cut, edged with grey ink, and layered, then adhered to a white A6 card. The image panel die-cut was adhered as shown. A sentiment sticker was added to complete the card.

I really hope that you get a chance to play along with the April Where's My Hat Challenge #196 for the chance to with Lost Coast Designs Ca$h!

Thanks for visiting today!

You Matter

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Aimee here! Here's a card I created inspired by a gift tag I saw on Pinterest. The tag featured a woman wearing a hat, and I thought it would be perfect for this month's Challenge: Where's My Hat?
The creation of this card kind of morphed as I went along. I used pigment inks, dye inks, embossing folders, embossing powder, alcohol markers and embellishments to bring it to life. The final touch was a hat sticker I purchased at a Dollar Tree store that I then colored to fit in better with the card's color scheme.  I used the Art Nouveau Faces, You Matter and Brush Strokes stamps. Follow along with this photo tutorial to see how it all came together:
This card is the result of playing around with inks and colors as I went, not knowing how it would all turn out in the end. That's the beauty of creating--just see where your path takes you. Go for it! And then submit your creation to the Lost Coast Portal To Creativity for your chance to win a prize.
