Hi all, Aimee here. After 34 years of marriage, my husband and I appreciate a good sense of humor when it comes to celebrating significant milestones. Why not give an unusual card!?!

This one-of-a-kind creation was made with the American Gothic Steampunk and Party Words stamps from Lost Coast Designs. Using just black, white and one other color keeps the card making simple and provides striking visual impact.

Hello, its Riet here.

I am absolutely crazy about Carri's Hard Luck Pixies.

I love, love, love them.

So, I didn't hesitate for a moment to use this angry pixie for this challenge.

And that sentiment from Carmens Veranda it's amazing.

It fits so perfectly.

I stamped using Hero Arts Unicorn White ink.

I colored the image with a Derwent Chromaflow 1510 pencil.

I also enhanced the text a bit with a white pencil.

I think that turned out really well, as it makes the text look handwritten.

I added some extra depth here and there using a white gel pen.

After that, I created some white splatters with acrylic paint.

And added a few dots of glitter here and there.

I matted it onto white cardstock.

Simple, yet with a great effect.

Hey - Darlene here with my final make for the month with the theme

Black and White with a bit of Colour

My stamp choice for this one is the

Grunge Flower Profile

So I stamped her with versafine and embossed in white

onto the black cardstock.  Masked the image and did some

white splatters lightly.

Added the lace and saying that was in my stash

to finish it 

Layered onto some turquoise coloured paper for my

bit of colour.

Then layered onto a white card.

Hello Cathy here with a fun and fast card for you today.

Stamps Used:

Doodle circle background.

I started out by stamping the doodle circle background with black ink on a white card base. I tore that all around and added that to a black card base.

I stamped the bunny on white cardstock and only colored her belt with pink a Copic marker. I then layered that in black cardstock and glued it right in the middle of the card.

Greetings! You've got Kathi here with a card created for September's "Black and White and One Color" Challenge with the Steampunk Balloon Guys Rubber Stamp and the Travel Quotes Rubber Sheet by Lost Coast Designs.

Ink the Steampunk Balloon Guys Rubber Stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp it twice — once onto white Copic-friendly cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.

Use Copic markers to color the airship and the Steampunk Balloon in shades of grey. 

Fussy-cut the sticker-paper version and place it over it over its counterpart to mask the image. 

Place a clouds stencil over the image panel. Starting at the top of the image panel, brush or sponge blue dye ink over the top of the stencil and the masked image onto the image panel. 

Rotate and/or flip the stencil, move it downwards on the image panel, and brush or sponge the same blue ink over the stencil and the masked image onto the image panel.

Continue this process until you have a cloudy blue sky. Trim the image panel to 4.75" x 6". Edge it with the same blue dye ink used for stenciling.

Secure the image panel onto the base of a stamping platform. Position the sentiment stamp from the Travel Quotes Rubber Sheet under the Steampunk Balloon. Place a piece of acetate over the image panel. Ink the sentiment stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp to check that the sentiment is straight and where you want it. Remove the acetate, ink the stamp again with Nocturne VFC Ink and stamp. You can re-ink and stamp again if needed to attain a good impression.

Remove the image panel from the stamping platform and heat set the image.

Adhere the image panel onto a grey textured A6 card.

#213 Black, white and one color.

Hi there, its Riet here.

Now, this was a real challenge for me.

You see, I always love working with lots of colors.

So, I really had to hold myself back.

But I managed to pull it off after all.

I used these materials:

LCD Crackle background.

LCD Rustic checkerboard border.

LCD Goat skull.

The goat skull is avalible in 3 sizes, I used the middle one. 

Orange posca pen.

Derwent inktense orange and black.

White gellpen.

Distressink Black soot.

Versafine onyx black.

Stickles orange slice.

Black marker.

I started by stamping the skull with VersaFine Onyx Black.

I colored the flower with an orange pencil and added some orange accents using the Posca pen.

I used the black pencil to create shading on the skull and the horns.

Make a mask of the skull.

And stamp the crackle background with VersaFine Onyx Black.

Since I wanted to make it a bit more interesting, 

I stamped the sides with VersaFine Onyx Black and the rustic checkered border.

I colored those with orange as well.

I used the white gelpen to add lines to the horns and the flower.

I applied some glitter to the center of the flower using Stickles.

I did the same on the checkerboard border.

I drew a line along the checkerboard border with the black marker. 

This clearly defines the separation between the two stamps.

Matted with black cardstock.

Good morning, Cathy here with a card for you today.

Stamps Used:

ATC postmark

I started by stamping the bird's background in black on a white card base. 

Then I stamped the ATC postmark in brown distress oxide ink randomly on the background. I then edged the whole card with the same brown ink.

I took a black cardstock ATC and stamped and embossed the skull. I wrapped some twine around the bottom of the card and added a piece of ephemera, 
Lastly, I took some of the brown distress oxide ink added some water and I added some splatters to the whole card.

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here with some more inspiration for the Black and White Plus One Challenge.  

Yellow is a colour I don't use enough, but this Lost Coast Designs Oriental Doll stamp always makes me think happy, so yellow it is.  I started by stamping Lost Coast Designs Pondscum Background on dark yellow card with black ink.  Then I stamped Oriental Doll with black ink on yellow and white card.  I cut round the yellow doll image removing the chequered border and mounted it on the white version.  I stamped the sentiment from Lost Coast Designs Party Words on white card and mounted on a piece of black.  I added the doll and the sentiment to the stamped background and done!!!

 Hello Portal Peeps!!!   Gail here today with some inspiration for the Black and White Plus One Challenge.  I really hope you have a chance to join the fun.  I think this will be a super pretty gallery, and if we get over 20 entries one of you will win a real stamp prize!

 

Today I have used Carmen's Veranda Kukla and made a simple mixed media card.

I started with a piece of thin corrugated card from a box and die cut with a stitch die.  Love how the corrugated card gets compacted and makes a robust but light panel.  I ripped a piece of A4 white paper and used the two ripped edges to form a mask before stamping Lost Coast Designs Flagstone Background with brown ink.  I found a piece of tree bark, dampened it with a bit of water and pressed it in my die cut machine to flatten it.  When it dried I added it and a small piece of brown die cut card.  Then I stamped Kukla on white card with black ink, fussy cut him and added him to the card.  To finish I stamped the Carmen's Veranda Not Just For Breakfast sentiment.

Happy September, stamping friends! Aimee here. I think everyone should have a quirky friend. Or, maybe YOU are someone's quirky friend.

This is a perfect "just because" card when you want to show some appreciation to someone important in your life. I made it with the AUD Creatures 4 and Grunge Border stamps from Lost Coast Designs and the Questionable Life Choices stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

Cards that are black and white plus one other color are super quick to make. We'd love to see your creation as part of this month's Challenge on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity. You could win a prize!

Bit of Colour

Hey - Darlene here with my first make of the month.

This month the theme is Black and White with a touch of Colour.

With this card I did a large slimline style.

Using the Shadow box style to layer the squares

Added a couple of flourishes on the end

The stamp I used is one of the 

Zentangle Feathers

which is coloured and fussy cut out

I popped it up a bit, added a wee bit of thread on the end

then layered the saying

A Boy and His Dog

Hello Portal Peeps!!   Gail here today with more masculine inspiration for the For The Men Challenge.  They say man's best friend is a dog and, starting them early, here is Milo and Raphael. 

Love this little boy and dog stamp.  I stamped it onto a white panel with archival ink and water-coloured with distress inks.  Then I took 4 pawprints from Lost Coast Designs Pawprint Border and stamped them repeatedly up each side of the image.   I had a little over inking on the top of the rubber but liked the effect, so left it in and accented it a little with the hickory smoke distress ink.

#212 For the men challenge, The boxer.

My last card for the challenge this month.

Its all about men/for the men.

I used Carmens Veranda stamps,

Once a badass.

LCD Boxer.

LCD Brush strokes.

Distress Oxide:

Mustard seed,

Spiced marmelade,

Barn door,

Archival ink Coffee

Posca markers,

yellow, orange and red.

Stencil Memory Box 88505 shine.

I started by stamping the boxer with Archival Coffee and masking him. 

Then I used the stencil in the traditional way, using the 3 colors of Distress Oxide and an ink blender tool. 

The second step is to spray the stencil, while the ink is still on it, with water, place it upside down over your card, and print it like that.

Let it dry thoroughly.

Stamp your card with the grungy strip in a corner, circles, and CV text using Archival Coffee.

Remove the mask and color the boxer and the circles.

Tear the edges and ink them with Archival Coffee.

Matt on white and brown.

And that was actually quite simple.

Now for the challenge, you can still participate until the end of the month.

And then you stand a chance to win those beautiful stamps from Lost Coast Designs or Carmens Veranda.
