WolfQueen ATC

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a ATC for you.
I haven't made a ATC in a very long time. Once I saw Wolf Queen I knew She had to be made into a ATC.

I stamped her on Copic friendly white cardstock and colored her in with Copic markers. Okay first for me, I did a darker color skin tone. I really like how it came out. Next I stamped Wolf Queen on scrap and colored wolf head and feathers and cut out and used foam squares to pop it up. I also offset the feathers to look like there is more.
Then I put some purple distress ink on a craft mat and took a water brush and painted around the image. Used a white pebeo marker and did the beads coming down with it and the center of the flower in her hair.
Thanks for visiting.  I hope you feel inspired you to get out your woman themed stamps and join our challenge.  You have until the end of the month and someone will be the lucky winner of some
 Lost Coast dollars.

Dragon Queen

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a fun I Am Woman card.
I started out a Copic friendly white cardstock. I stamped Mother of Dragons with black ink. This stamp makes me think of that show on that network with the Mother of Dragons.  I bet you all know the one I'm talking about. Anyway.......
I colored it in with Copic markers. Looking at it now I should have added some glossy accents to the eggs. (idea for next time)
As you can see I layered it on black cardstock.
I think doing this makes your image that you colored pop.
Next I layered it on watercolor paper I used to clean up my leftover Nuance and Distress Oxide inks.
I stamped ATC Gothic Text randomly on that watercolor card.

Then I layered it all on a gray card base and I called it done.

Winter Is Coming

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning, and happy Monday. It's Sue here with my second piece for the current 'I Am Woman' challenge. This time I'm using some fabulous new stamps from the Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda stores.

I started by making an 8x8 background with mixed media paper using Tim Holtz Distress Oxides in just about every colour that I own. I diped the paper one colour at a time and dried it each time to avoid mud.

Next I went through a cog stencil with Tea Dye to add a bit of contrast.

Then I stamped Steampunk Fly Girl with water as I wanted to remove some of the colour.

Time for more stenciling now, I've used an Andy Skinner face stencil and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide.

These are the stars of the show. They are new stamps called Flying Steampunk, and Steampunk Profile. They're amazing stamps and I shall be using them loads. I've coloured them with watercolour and sparkle pens.

Time for more Steampunkery now. I've die cut cogs and feathers etc on thick black card.

Then coated it all with various colours of metallic gilding waxes.

I LOVE this stamp and know it will get lots of use. It's a new Carmens Veranda clear stamp called unsurprisingly Winter Is Coming

Here it is, all done! I've stuck it to the inside cover of my new black journal.

And this is how they look together - I like it - a lot!

There's still loads of time for you to join in, so please link up for a chance to win Lost Coast $'s.

Have a very happy day, and thanks very much for looking xx

I Am Woman - or in this case Women

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

The Lost Coast Portal Event for January has the theme "I Am Woman" and LCD's website has so many great stamps featuring women.  This is one of my favorites -  Early Stitch n' Bitch.

I stamped my ladies with black ink onto white card stock and cut them out.  The only color I added was to their hands and faces and their little wicker basket of yarn.
I mounted them with foam tape to a patterned piece of paper that reminded me of old wallpaper you might find in someone's sitting room.  I edged it with some distress ink and a black sticker border along the bottom.  I punched out the old clock face from a collage sheet and added that above the ladies.  I stamped my sentiment with black ink and cut out around it, edging it with black ink and positioned it to the left side.  You can find this fun stamp Bottom of Wine Bottle at the Carmen's Veranda website along with a lot of other fun new sayings.
I finished this off by mounting it to a piece of torn edged watercolor paper.
Now go see what fun stuff you can make for the challenge!

Familiar and Friend

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today with an ATC featuring the gorgeous Owlynn stamp.  I always like to do something a little special to share with you and when my first version of this was finished I must admit I wasn't happy.  So I slept on it, and I decided it wasn't that bad after all when I looked at it again in the cool light of the day.  We have snow today so the light is very cool and very bright!  Part of the problem was that I had decided to emboss using gold embossing powder.  I don't have fine gold powder, so not all of the details were perfect, and the gold also doesn't give such a nice contrast with the colours.  So I redid it with black fine powder and this is the result.

Sometimes it's nice to just let the stamp speak for itself.  This is such a detailed image that I just stamped, embossed and coloured.  It's just slightly bigger than an ATC so it perfectly filled my canvas once I cut it to size.

Here's a picture of my partly coloured image.  Now, I am not very good at colouring.  There are people who take hours and hours on shading and blending and such, but I don't have the skill or the patience.  I used to avoid images like this as too detailed for me, but I have discovered it is very therapeutic to colour.  I suppose that's why adult colouring books took off, but as a stamper we already have access to images.  Just stamp and colour.  That said, Lost Coast Design also have a colouring book with some very fun pages combining many of their stamps LOL.  Anyway, I am just picking out the elements and adding colour using sharpies, Promarkers and distress inks.  Mix and match!  That's me!!!  Went a bit crazy face paint, but I quite like the rebel look.
Here's what I meant about the gold versus the black embossing.  I used sightly darker colours on the black one for the owl and her face paint, but otherwise they are the same.  They look much more intense against the black lines, although I think my yellow flowers were better first time around. And oops, missed a bit of her dress and where did that leaf come from..........
I finished by stamping and embossing the Carmen's Veranda Best Friends sentiment.  I meant to do that before I coloured, in case it all went horribly wrong, but luckily it went OK.  I have used this image on an ATC before, but last time I had the owl as the focus and switched things around a bit.  If you would like to see that one you can find it HERE.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope I have inspired you to get out your woman themed stamps and join our challenge.  You have until the end of the month and someone will be the lucky winner of some Lost Coast dollars.  Hugz

Learn from Yesterday

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a card for I Am Woman challenge.
I started out with a white Copic friendly cardstock and stamped Lycaonia with black ink.
Then I colored with Copic markers.
I also colored the background with Copic markers and took the colorless blender and made "snowflakes" with it for the sky.
Next I added a saying and layered my panel on black cardstock, then a blue card base.
An easy coloring and layering card.

Don't forget to join the I Am Woman challenge.

Raven Doodles

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with raven doodles for you.
I made this card using stencil and stamps and a ink pad or two.
Here is a close up of the stencil and corner swirl stamp I used.
What I did was take a white cardstock and a circle stencil (I used Tim Holtz).
Tape it down over the cardstock and pick your color of ink. (I used my favorite color purple)
I used Distress ink for this because it is easy to blend. I took the corner swirl stamp and stamped it over the stencil. Next I took the blender and the leftover ink on the stencil and blended it into the circles. So you have the dark ink from the stamp and the lighter ink from the blending.
Next I took the Raven right small and black ink and stamped it in the middle(ish) of the paper.
Last I took the Farting Unicorn saying under the Raven.
Added it to a black card base and I was done.

Licensed To Party

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello.  Gail here today to share a party card.  Did you know Lost Coast Designs are now selling the Katzelkraft Cats and Dogs stamps???  These are so fun.  Meet Party Cat.
I decided he needed to disco like it's 1999........
I started by stamping Lost Coast Design Fourth Dimension using blue and green radiant neon ink.  I used a ripped piece of paper to mask off the top of the image to make my disco floor
I stamped Party Cat with Distress Ox Fossilised Amber, cos I wanted those party doodle bubbles and spirals to be yellow.  Then I used the same ink to stamp Cracked Sky many times.  Love those little stars and spirals.
I used License Plate Alphabet and stamped the letters using the green and blue neon inks.  I outlined the letters with gel pen to add some definition.  Here's a quick snap to show how that doodled outline makes the letters pop.  I also doodled a faux stitched border and edged my letters with grey archival ink.
I cut the panel with a stitch die and mounted on a white card base.  Party Cat was stamped, embossed and fussy cut.  I made him orange, cos they say gingers have more fun.  Then I added my letters.  PARTY!!!!
Our current challenge is Doodle and you will find the linky HERE

Thanks for visiting.
Don't forget to drop by all month for fresh inspiration from the team.

Doodle in Dreams

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Our Challenge for this month of January is "Doodling", and there are so many great "doodle" stamps on the Lost Coast Designs website.

For this card, I used Face With Heart Stamp and Doodle "Dream" clear stamp.
I used black ink and stamped the face directly onto my background, then used Copic markers to add some color.  My background is made with my Gelli plate and rust, yellow, and brown acrylic paints and various stencils.  I then stamped the word "Dream" with black ink below the face.  I layered this with a brown piece of card stock then layered that with a torn edged piece of water color paper.

Now you go and create your own "Doodle" and enter the challenge for a chance to win free stamps from Lost Coast Designs!
