On Wings of Imagination

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share an encouragement card created for  January "Winged Things" Challenge #205 with the Edgar Allan Poe Rubber Stamp by Carmen's Veranda and the Murder of Crows Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Stamps.

Here it is!

When I saw that January's challenge was Winged Things, I naturally had to create a card with some of my favorite birds. I love crows and ravens and magpies, which are all part of the Corvidae Family. Their plumage is usually majestic and they are really very intelligent birds. And when I think of crows and ravens, I think of Edgar Allen Poe.

I wanted to go greyscale with this card and am relatively pleased with the results.

I first stamped the Edgar Allan Poe Rubber Stamp by Carmen's Veranda with London Fog Memento Ink onto a panel of Bristol Paper then used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp three of the crows from the Murder of Crows Rubber Stamp Set by Lost Coast Stamps

The images were all colored with Copic markers. A white Gel Pen was used to add the catchlights to Poe's eyes. A Black Glaze Gel Pen was used to add shiny eyes to the crows.

I wanted to add a background to the image panel, so I stamped all the images again onto repositionable sticker paper, fussy-cut them, and placed the fussy-cut stickers  over their counterparts as masks.

A square die was placed facedown on the image panel and secured with low-tack tape. The die and image panel were run through the machine. The sandwich was flipped onto my work surface so the reverse was facing upwards. Low-tack tape was used to secure the die-cut image panel to the rest of the panel.

The panel was flipped again so that it was right-side up with the image panel still inside the die. Lost Shadow Distress Ink was brushed over the die onto the masked image panel die-cut. A stencil was placed over top and the Lost Shadow Distress Ink was sponged over the die and the stencil to add a subtle background.

The tape was removed from the front and the back of the die-cut image panel revealing a white-ish edge. The masks were removed to reveal the colored scene.

Black textured cardstock was cut with the next largest square die and used to mat the image panel.

The matted image panel was adhered to a white 6" square card. Sentiment stickers were added to finish the card.

You still have two days to join our January "Winged Things" Challenge #205 for a chance to win Lo$t Coa$t Ca$h!

Winged things challenge. The raven.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

What is it about ravens?
They've fascinated humanity for centuries.
There's something magical and yet frightening about them.
LCD has some beautiful stamps featuring ravens.
Now, how the card/AJ was made.

What I used:
LCD stamps,
Black waterresistent inkpad (Versafine)
Distress oxide,
Uncharted mariner,
Chipped sapphire,
Villainous potion,
Musterd seed.
Black soot.
White gelpen
Pink and tuqoise watercolor paint.
Brayer
Wrap foil
Masking tape
Since I have absolutely no drawing talent,
I'm thrilled with the stencils from Angie's Happy Hobby.
I used the stencil to create the large raven.

Tape the stencil with the ravens to your paper.
I started with a circle mask for the moon.
I sponged around the mask with Villainous potion.
I sponged Uncharted Mariner around that, and then Chipped Sapphire around that.
I sponged the base where the raven stands with Black Soot.
Remove the moon mask and sponge the moon with Mustard Seed.

Stamp the raven, the tree and the crow on the bird.
Using the white gel pen, we make white lines on the tree and the birds.

Set your work aside and let it dry completely.
Now we'll move on to the background.
We'll create the background using watercolor paint and plastic wrap.
Let dry.

With the brayer we apply some more Uncharted Mariner and Villainous potion.

Make prints with the window stamp.

And stamp with Versafine the stamp from Pieces of calligraphy.

Cut out the ravens and glue them onto the card.
Matt the card with black, and it's ready.
The challenge runs until the end of the month,
so join in for a chance to win new stamps.

Believe in Fairies? Card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here with another card created for the January Things with Wings Challenge 205 with the Winged Girl Rubber Stamp by Lost Coast Designs.

Here it is!

Stamp the Winged Girl Rubber Stamp by Lost Coast Designs onto white cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Use Copic markers to color the image with colors chosen to match the spring-inspired patterned paper.

Place an arch die facedown on the image panel, secure with low-tack tape, and run the sandwich through a die-cut machine.

Place a piece of scrap paper over the die and image panel and flip the combination to the reverse. Use low-tack tape to secure the die-cut to the image panel. Flip the combination back over and brush light yellow dye ink over the die onto the image panel to add a background. Remove the low-tack tape and set the image panel die-cut aside.

Cut a strip of patterned paper containing the "Believe in Fairies? They hope you do!" from a piece of patterned paper and edge with a green marker.

Adhere the sentiment patterned paper strip across a piece of floral patterned paper as shown. Trim the patterned paper to 4" x 5.25" to create the card front.

Adhere the image panel arch die-cut atop the patterned paper sentiment strip as shown.

Adhere the card front to yellow A2 card.

Hi all, Aimee here. I LOVE making gift tags. They may be smaller in size, but that doesn't mean they can't make a big impact! With ribbons, embossing, 3-D butterfly sticker wings, and photo corners--there's a lot of visual interest:
I used the Sunglasses Gnome and Brush Strokes stamps from Lost Coast Designs, and the Butterfly Reminder sentiment from Carmen's Veranda. Follow along to see how this tag was made:

A Very Good Year

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today with some inspiration for our Winged Things Challenge.
I've used the beautiful Mini Maritime Collage stamp which features this lovely stork.
I made a simple masculine birthday card in muted tones.  I started with some pale grey card and stamped the Maritime Collage with brown archival ink and cut it as a long panel.  Then I stamped again on more of the pale grey card using black and midnight blue archival ink.  I fussy cut the black light house and the blue stork and added them to the panel.  Then I mounted centrally on a white card base and stamped the Happy Birthday using Lost Coast Designs Misc. Words.
You have all month to share your stamped anythings featuring things with wings. Please read the updated rules before entering. Real rubber or clear stamping and theme must be the focus of your project for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$'s. 1st - 31st January.
