Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hello blog readers,
Riet here with a tutorial for you.
Here is my entry for Day 13 of the Lost Coast Designs Halloween challenge.
This time, it’s a wall hanging;
sorry about the poor lighting in the photo, but it rained outside all day.
I really enjoyed creating this wall hanging.
And here is how I made it.
Stamps I used.
Lost Coast Designs
A few spiders (bought at the store).
A few Halloween dies.
Sizzix Ornate frame.
Versafine onyx black inkpad.
Distress Oxide:
Spiced marmelade,
Musterd seed,
Twisted citron,
Villainous potion.
Distress ink:
Brushed corduroy,
Antique linen.
Derwent Graphytint pencils.
Ball of black cotton thread for making tassels.
Black beads; I used wooden beads painted black.
White gelpen.
Amsterdam black acrylic paint.
How I made it.
I started with Ornated frames.
Painted them black.
I traced the inside of the die with a pencil.
Stamped the images and masked them.
Then I stamped the spiderweb background.
Sponge the background using Distress Antique Linen.
Remove the mask and color the images.
I chose to use the Derwent graphitint for coloring,
as they have a somewhat more muted, vintage look.
I added fine lines to the spiderweb using the white gel pen.
Cut out the oval and glue it into the frame.
Now, don't those look cute?

Now stamp the raven and color it.
Now let's move on to the die-cuts.
You can use all sorts of things for that, of course.
You surely have something in your stash that relates to Halloween.
For the Happy Halloween die, I die-cut the text in black.
I sponged the background with,
Distress Oxide:
Spiced marmelade,
Twisted citron,
Villainous potion.
The pumpkin is sponged with
Distress Oxide:
Spiced marmelade,
Musterd seed,
and the leaves with Twisted citron
and Villainous potion.
For the white parts I used a purple pencil.
The little ghosts are sponged with distress Antique linen
and the edges with distress Brushed corduroy,
To give them a vintage look.
Die-cut the spiderwebs from white paper.
Trace the outline of the die onto black paper and cut it out.
Glue the spiderweb on to the black background.
Make the tassels; if you don't know how, you can find videos about it on YouTube.
Now all that's left is the assembly.
I found a broken-off branch in the woods and attached everything to it.
Here's a tip: ask someone to help you with this.
I did it on my own, and it was quite tricky to hang everything neatly with the right sides facing forward.
You really need an extra pair of hands.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.
Now come and join the challenge at Lost Coast designs fan blog.
There is a chance to win rubber stamps.
