Birds In Trees

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda  collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

#101 Background forward.

Hi there, Riet here.
I really had to think about this card, making the background the star isnt that easy.
I am not used to that.
But I just like to work with my distress micro glaze, so of we go.

Distress glaze, distressink spun sugar, victorian velvet, gathered twigs.

Take a little spung and aply the glaze on to the stamp and stamp it on a piece of paper that is 5cm or 2 inch longer than the stamp.

Start sponging the bottem with spun sugar, work your way up with victorian velvet. And at the top gathered twigs. Its so magical to see the birds and trees show up, just love it.
I tore the bottom of the card and distresst it with gathered twigs and stampt the moon child stamp. Matt the card with a off white cardstock, and from the same cardstock I die cut the birds. Easy and swift.
So hurry up and join us in this exciting challenge.

Background Forward: Squares Masterboard Background

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi to all you Portal visitors and welcome to the last couple of days of our challenge:  Background Forward.  So your projects should prominently feature your background creations.

For this challenge, I have created a 9 X 9 master board background using Carmen's Veranda Square Stamps, specifically:

Calligraphy square
Architecture square
Clock square
Rabbit square
Butterfly square

I stamped each of these using StayzOn black ink onto a variety of gelli prints that I had on hand, all in shades of green and blue.  I cut them into 3" squares and fastened them to a backing to hold them all in place.  Now that I have this master board, I can use portions of it as background for other projects - ATCs, rolos, junk journaling, etc.  I think it will make some really interesting backgrounds.

Let's see what you can do making Background Forward!

You Are My Sunshine!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Today I wanted to share with you a fun background card that uses the beautiful stamp - Sun Tiles Background from Carmen's Veranda.

I created the card by first stamping the Sun Tiles onto a piece of white cardstock using VersaMark ink then embossing with white embossing powder.  I added color by scribbling Marabu Art Crayons over the entire panel using yellow, orange and a touch of red and blending with my finger.

That panel was trimmed then affixed to a red card base. The sentiment was printed from the computer, trimmed, matted and mounted on the card.

Quick and easy but oh so pretty!

There's still time to play in challenge #101 - Background Forward!

Background forward: 3 background stamps.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here showing you another two cards hoping to inspire you for our Background Forward challenge. Join the fun!
For this two coloured backgrounds I used Grunge window wall and Arches and Door. I stamped them using a ,Big and juicy' multicolor ink pad. After stamping I played around with a water brush to water out and colour the image here and there. I stamped some details in black with black ink and the 3rd background stamp: Grunge tree. The sentiments are from Misc. words.

See you next time!

Background Forward

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all Cathy here with a card for you.

Stamps Used:
Argyle Background
Again I was watching a video. This one was by Jennifer McGuire and her faux monoprint. So I thought I would give it a try.
Here are some of my backgrounds I did.

What you have to is ink the paper with dye ink. I used Distress inks. You have to add a lot of ink to make this work. The orange and yellow one I just took the pad and swiped it across the paper. I did the same for the one I used. The circle one I tried with a blending tool.
Next you have to dry it completely because you are going to heat emboss with clear embossing power for the next step. If the ink is not dry the embossing power will stick to it and we don't want that. After you heat emboss your image, background on the inked cardstock take another white sheet of cardstock and tape it to the top(or bottom) of the embossed piece.
Have you die cutting machine out because that is what you are going to use to make the second piece with the white 'emboss' area.
Cover the white cardstock so it doesn't get sprayed with water. I used a paper bag. Spray the embossed piece with water. A lot of water. I sprayed it at least 5 to 6 times. Then fold the white cardstock over (because you taped it to the other it is like a hinge)  run it through your die cutting machine. I did mine about 4 times back and forth. you then take it out and you have the white 'emboss' resist on the other piece. If you missed a spot you can just spray it again and run it through. Set aside to dry and now you have 2 backgrounds for the price of 1.
I then just added it to a white card base and added a die cut flower to the front.
Come join the fun challenge here
Also the sale is still going on. 25% off . Go get some stamps.

Background Forward: Forgetful Penguin

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with a fun card for this current challenge:  Background Forward.  So rather than having your background just be in the background, create an interesting, creative background and let it be the feature of your piece.

I used four different background stamps for this, all from Lost Coast Designs:
Little DiamondsWhite WavesLarge Chickenwire, and Idinkera.  I also used one of the penguins from the Grumpy Penguins set and the clear stamp phrase Forget Shit from Carmen's Veranda.

I started by stamping each of my backgrounds with black ink onto some scrapbook paper that is primarily white but has some bits of green here and there.  I cut each piece into 1 1/2 inch squares until I had a total of 16 squares.  I then glued the squares in random order onto black card stock and trimmed around the edges.  I machine stitched around the border with black thread.

I added a bit of color with some orange and green Distress Ink sprays here and there.

Next I stamped my penguin onto white paper with black ink and cut him out.  He looked too white against my background, so I stamped him lightly with a bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink and colored his beak orange.  I stamped my sentiment on white paper with black ink and edged it in black.  I attached both the penguin and the saying with foam tape to give them each some dimension.

We would love to see your wonderful featured backgrounds and hope you will join us for the fun and different challenge!

Happy Dice

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today in a very hot Norway.  Keeping cool is my number 1 priority at the moment so I decided to relocate to a shady corner of the garden and play with stamps and distress markers.
We started a new challenge yesterday called Background Forward, and we want to see background stamps or stamped backgrounds as the star of your project.  Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda have some awesome background stamps.  I used Carmen's Veranda Dice Background
I started by stamping and embossing the Dice Background on white card.  I used gold embossing powder, which looks very pretty, and I was tempted to just leave it like this.  An idea for a quick card in the future.........
I coloured the dice with bright distress colours and then spritzed to get the worn look.  The sentiment is from Lost Coast Designs Party Words.
Thanks for dropping by.  Stay safe and keep well.  Grab you stamps and join our
Background Forward challenge for a chance to win Lost Coast $$$$$$'s

Dog Gone Fun Birthday!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day. Roni here, I just wanted to let you know that you still have a bit of time left to help us Celebrate our 100th Challenge...

I decided to celebrate with some dog friends...I love these darling little pups and thought they would make a perfect way to celebrate. I stamped the Many Dogs background stamp onto kraft paper. I then found a dog that looked like our old basset hound Cecil and colored him with Prismacolor colored pencils.  I trimmed the panel, edged it with Tulip Red VersaFine ink and mounted it on a black card.

I then stamped the Heart from the ATC Doodles set and fussy cut both inside and out. It was then used to frame Cecil.  Finally I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Party Words set of stamps, trimmed it and mounted it on the card.

Hope you enjoy the card and Cecil :)

Remember you still have a bit of time to join in on the fun of our 100th Challenge!!

# 100 Celebrate
Party clowns in orange and green.

Hello everyone, come and join the challenge at Lost Coast Designs blog.
And what a fun challenge team leader Gail has chosen.
Celebrate, yes let's celebrate life, especially now in corona time.
Join our challenge and lets celebrate and party all together.
You can still join until the 14th, on the 15th there is a new challenge.
Take a chance in winning some rubber.

This is my take on this theme.

What I used:
Black stazon and black distressink.
Dylusion paints and spray’s,
Freshe lime, squeezed orange, polished jade, lemon zest.

In the background I used some Dutch Doobadoo masks.
Wyber, metall 2 and bubbles.

The cutting die’s are from Joy Crafts,  lets party and flags.

Color pencils, or what color medium you like to use.

And now to work, dear stampers, have fun.
I first sprayed the 4 dylusion colors and let it dry. I used  an a4 so that I had some paper for the baloons and flags. I cut the flags twice and the balloons once.
Then used the DDBD masks with the paints. And cut a piece of paper 12cm x 20cm.
In the time it is drying I stamped with black stazon the clowns and colored them.
Now the background has dried I used a black and white color pencil
Around the bubbles and wyber masks. With some black distress I made the shadows on the flags and balloons. Now cut out the clowns and glue them on with the flags and balloons. I always matt my work, but it is not necessary.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.
And please show as your work and join the challenge.
There are some nice prices to win.

Do I smell cake

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a birthday card for you. Since it was my birthday yesterday I made a birthday card.

Stamps Used:
Large peekaboo kitty
Hat from party Mona
Do I smell cake

So I was watching a video the other day and they did something called rip and flip. What you do is take a  piece of pattern paper and cut them to the size you want for the front of the card. I made mine a little smaller then the card front so you can see the card base. Make sure that you have the piece of pattern paper larger then what you a re going to attach them to.  Now you are going to rip it and flip it. Flip the piece of pattern paper so you get the 2 sides on the front of the card base.

You can see it better here in the close up. Next I colored and cut out  Large peekaboo kitty. After that  I cut out the hat from the birthday Mona and added to the Large peekaboo kitty.
Stamp the  Do I smell cake on a white scrap. I added some pink bakers twine and some pink sequence. Added the saying to the top and placed it all on a shimmer card base.
Come join the new challenge here.
The sale is still going strong. Cone get some stamps for 25% off.
