New Design Team Member - Liesbeth Fidder-de Vos

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here and I am so excited to be introducing our amazing new design team member

Liesbeth Fidder-de Vos

Hello everyone! I am Liesbeth, 54 years old, and my husband Henk and I live in Emmen, a small nice city in the north of the Netherlands. We have two wonderful, grown up children: Lotte (30) and Lars (28). I have (too) many hobbies 😉  : music, visiting pop/rock concerts, art, cooking, history, hiking, walking, reading, knitting and everything arts/crafts. My job is teaching workshops (rubber stamping and mixed media techniques) here in Holland and abroad. I am/was on various design teams, worked in a great stamp store (Art Journey), was published in magazines and wrote two books about rubber stamping techniques (In Dutch and Finnish language). I was very thrilled Linda asked me to join the Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda design team.  Lost Coast Designs has always been one of my favourite brands! Love them so much! Looking forward to work with the other members and I hope to inspire you by showing my work!

Christmas in July with the Angels

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
thank you so much for stopping by.

Today I'm sharing a Christmas card with you,
because, seriously, we all need ideas as Chrissy gets closer.

This card uses the Herald Angels stamp.

Have you got your cuppa ready while I step you through how this was made?
Here we go ...

Step 1: Using your trusty old credit card, swipe some paint across your card.  The flatter your card as you use it, then the more rustic your background will look. I've used DecoArt paints.

Step 2: Stamp your image onto tissue paper and dry it with a heat tool.

Step 3:  Remove excess tissue paper from around your image. I use a water brush and gently pull the tissue paper apart.  Turn the tissue paper over and colour in some of the image.  You can see from the photo above that it doesn't need to be as arty as if you were painting on top of something.  The main thing is that you stay within the lines.  Oh, and from experience, dry the paint before turning it over and checking how it is coming along.  Wet paint will mark tissue paper easily and it wont come off.

Step 4:  Attach your dried tissue paper to your background with a gel medium.

Step 5:  Finger painting! I added a little extra white paint to a couple of corners with my fingers.  I had an idea to add a little Chrissy stenciling to the corners.

Step 6:  I used a mini blender and archival ink to add some stenciling to the corners.  The stencil I used had a few bits on it so a little washi tape was added to make sure there wasn't any unwanted stenciling.

To finish:  Edge it with some archival ink.  Splatter a little white paint. Mat and layer it onto card stock.

This is a beautiful stamp to use.  It's big enough to make a whole card with.
Tissue paper is one of my favourite techniques to use.  I hope that you decide to give it a go.
And that you have been inspired to play.

Christmas In July Challenge: Dear Santa

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Laurie here and oh how fun it was to dig out my Christmas stamps and supplies in the middle of July!  I love making Christmas projects so this was a really fun theme for me - hope you will jump in as well and get a little holiday spirit in the summer!

I made a card for this project using the 50's Girl stamp from Lost Coast and the Dear Santa clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.  My base is a piece of scrapbook paper that came in a 6X6 pack.  I cut it down to size and edged it with red ink.

I stamped my 50's gal with black ink onto white card stock and cut her out.  I then stamped her again onto green paper then cut out the checkered parts of her dress and affixed those parts atop my original stamped image.  I colored her skin with Copic markers and added some red rhinestones to the buttons down the front of her dress.  I then cut out a Santa hat and perched it atop her head.

Next I stamped my sentiment onto white paper with black ink and cut it out.  I edged it with black ink and positioned it in the left corner of the card front.  I attached my 50's gal atop that so it appears she is perched on the edge.  I added some red foil trim and an ornament sticker as shown.

Voila!  Christmas in July!  Please join us here on the Portal and share your Christmas creations!

Meowy Christmas to You!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Friends...
Our current challenge is Christmas In July...
Roni here with a fun creation to help inspire you to get your holiday on...

This card was created by stamping on a single sheet of white cardstock which was then mounted onto a green card base. I started off by stamping the Large Peek a Book Kitty in the center of the bottom portion of the panel with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  It was then colored with a combination of colored pencils and alcohol markers.

Next I stamped the Daisy Flourish along the top and sides of the panel using Verdant, Green Oasis and Rain Forest VersaFine Clair inks.  I colored the Daisy in with Lady Bug Dual Tip Memento marker turning the daisy into a Christmas-y looking flower. A bit of glitter was added to the center of each flower.

To finish off the panel I stamped Merry Christmas and changed it to Meowy Christmas and inked up the rest of the card with Paradise ink.

A better look at the kitty...

Hope you all decide to join in on the fun!!

Christmas in July Tag

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Cathy here with a Christmas tag for you today.
I got my inspiration from some YouTube videos people are doing to celebrate Christmas in July. The one I made my tag was one using up the scrap you have left over from making cards.
Stamps Used:
Small snowflake set
Megan's Christmas bird

So I started out with the red piece of paper on the bottom of this tag. It is the flip side from the paper I used to my make a card to start this challenge.
Here it is.

First cut the red paper with a die tag. (on the bottom of the tag die so it will fit perfectly on the bottom of the tag.)
Next take some green paper and cut out the whole tag shape. Stamp some of the Small snowflake set on the tag with black ink.
Glue the red paper to the green tag and edge with red ink. Set aside.
Die cut a doily from white cardstock and glue it off the side of tag. Die cut the word joy out of white cardstock 3 times and layer on top of each other. Then die cut it once out of black cardstock and layer on top. Glue on the bottom of tag,

Stamp Megan's Christmas bird on a separate white cardstock. Color with Copic markers just the bird. Cut out and add foam tape to the back to make it stand out. Add to tag.
Lastly add ribbon to the top and some embellishments to the tag.
I must say this is a great way to use up your paper scraps you have.
Come join in the Christmas in July challenge here.

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today.  It's Christmas In July here at the Portal.  I love any excuse for a party so Christmas rates high in my book.  I have made a really quick and easy card, cos that's what we need when the silly season comes around.....
I used Carmen's Veranda Quilted Wing Angel and words from Lost Coast Designs Misc. Words set.
I cut my card base from a piece of patterned card using a stitch die.  I stamped the angel and the words using black archival ink.
I stamped the head and body of the angel again on a scrap of white card and fussy cut.  I coloured the wings, face and wood bits with promarkers and then added irridecent glitter to the dress.  Hope you can see the sparkle!  'Tis very pretty.

Let's Celebrate: Birthday Chi chi

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi again from Laurie with another project for the "Let's Celebrate" challenge going on here on the Portal right now.  This one runs until the 14th of this month so you still have time to make something fabulously celebratory to enter for a chance to win some free stamps.  And we love to see what you all are creating!

For this birthday card I used the  Queen of Everything clear stamp, the Coffee Chihuahua Katzelkraft stamp from Lost Coast Designs, and the smallest butterfly stamp from the Butterfly Set at Lost Coast.

I created my background using Oxide Distress Inks on watercolor paper.  I stenciled my ink colors onto the paper then spritzed it generously with water, let it run a bit, then set it with a heat gun.  I stamped the butterfly randomly with black ink and also edged the panel in black.

I then stamped my little Chihuahua onto white paper with black ink and cut him out.  I colored him with Copic Sketch markers and added some gold pen to the spikes on his red collar.
I positioned him on my card front then stamped my sentiment onto a white square with black ink.  I trimmed it down to size, edged it with black, and positioned it so my little Chi chi is holding it up and glued both down.  Final step was to layer this with a white panel and you've got a fun birthday card for any dog lover!

Come celebrate with us at the Lost Coast Portal and share your creations!!

Halloween Celebrate it

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a Halloween celebrate it card.
Of Course right.

Stamp Used: Witch2

I started out with my first ever gelli print. I did not blend it well so I'm using it today for a background.
I used a red/orange for the top and a yellow for the bottom. ( hence the scrap from Freidafest I used in day 2) Splattered Nuance powers that I made into a liquid first on the gelli plate then I pulled the print.
Next I die cut out a tree and fence from paper. Paint the fence with some gray and brown to make it look old.
Make the moon by using a mask of a circle and blending out some black ink from the center. Color in with yellow Copic and then add sparkle. You can't see it in the photo but it is there.
Next stamp Witch2 were you want here. Stamp again on white cardstock and color with Copic and cut out.  Add your cut out witch to cover right where you stamped it out on the front. Now to add your die cuts you have.
I drew on some grass on the grass part of it.

Happy Halloween

Don't forget to add your Celebrate it to the challenge here.
Can't wait to see what you share.
