Fall Fox

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a square card for you today.
Stamp Used:

I started out with a background I had leftover. I had some die cut leaves in white cardstock so I blended them with different colors of distress ink. I then took some brown distress oxide ink and water and splattered the leaves. I also took a black fine tip marker and added some black dots to the leaves.

I then stamped Foxy Roxy and colored him with copic markers and cut him out.

OfCourse, he needed glasses and a hat. I die cut glassed and hat.
I then added some washi tape to the bottom of the square and glued Foxy Roxy on top and put the die cut leaves around Foxy Roxy. I added some rub-on leaves to fill in the empty space.

Today is the last day to enter the challenge. You can do it on the blog.

Belated Birthday Card Starring Pokey the Pidgeon!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a belated birthday card created with the new Pokey Pidgeon stamp for the September Animal Challenge

Here it is!

I googled "pigeons" and decided to make Pokey Pidgeon into a Rock Pigeon whose plumage is black, grey, purple, and teal/green. They really are rather handsome birds.

Anyway, Pokey Pidgeon was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I enlarged the Pokey's pupils just a bit, then added white gel pen highlights to them.

I found patterned paper that worked really well with the his plumage, but used Copics to change the color of the yellowish veining in the paper to yellow/orangish veining to match Pokey's eyes.

I love Pokey's expression. He either looks surprised or guilty. I decided he was guilty of being a birdbrain and forgetting a birthday. He's kind of like me in that way. I didn't have sentiments that worked, so I used my label maker to make my own, then airbrushed the white with Copic markers.

You still have time to play with us, create something for the September Animal Challenge, share it with us, and be entered for the chance to win some Lost Coast Designs Cash!

A Flying Monkey Kinda Day

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here today with some Animal inspiration.  I decided to make a collage of a few different stamps that probably never usually occupy the same space.  Sometimes you just have to stamp!
On a white piece of card I stamped Carmen's Veranda Flying Monkey Background with grey ink, Lost Coast Designs Domino Border with black ink, masked and stamped Lost Coast Designs ATC Doodle Flowers with grey ink.  I cut the panel with Daisy Mae stitched distressed arch die and stamped Carmen's Veranda Baby Elephant with grey ink, just to get his hair.  I stamped the elephant again on white card, fussy cut and added him to the card.  I stamped the Thinking of You from the Party Words set and layered it on black card.
Thanks for dropping by.  You have until the end of the month to link up your stamped anythings featuring animals for your chance to win some Lost Coast Dollars.

Animals: Bookmark Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone! Our current challenge is still Animals, there are so many great animals stamps, lots to choose from! This time I used two of the new ones: the funny bird Pokey Pidgeon and also a part of Polly Parrot, just the wings at the edges!

I stamped the bird, parrot-wings and text (Party Words) onto a alcohol inked glossy bookmark. I used StazOn ink, black and some colours. I coloured everything with Ecoline markers and finishes with blue, pink and yellow glitter glue.

You still have much time to participate to this nice challenge, why not give it a try? :-)

She's Purrfect!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

It's Kathi here! I'm a proud crazy cat lady, so the new release Fat Cat stamp was a "must have" addition to my cat stamp collection. I absolutely had to use Fat Cat for September's Animal Challenge!

Here's the card I created with her!

The Fat Cat was stamped with Memento ink onto white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.

The image panel was trimmed and adhered to a piece of green cardstock cut .25" larger than the image panel.

I found patterned paper in my stash that matched her eyeshadow and eye color, layered it, and adhered it to a green A6 card.

The same green cardstock was cut with a "Purrfect" cutting die, which was adhered to finish the card.

Please play along with us at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's September Animal Challenge and can win some Lost Coast Designs CA$H!

I hope to see your animal-themed artwork there!

Colorful pokey mouse, for the animal challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!
Hi, Riet here with a easy tutorial  this time.

Today a card with the pokey mouse stamp.
It is such a funny mouse.
The background is made with Nuvo shimmer powder.
This powder has a lovely shimmer.

I stamped with distress oxide weathered wood and the LCD ledger stamp the background.

Stamp the mouse on a piece of paper and color it.
Cut it out and gleu on the card.

With a black ink I stamped the long swirl on the edges of the card.
And do the same with the badass stamp.
Glue it on a purple and black cardstock.

Join us on de Lost Coast Designs blog or facebook.
And have a chance to win.

Patchwork Pokey Dog

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!  Gail here today with some inspiration for the Animal challenge.  Something I love to do is paper piecing.   As a thrifty crafter I take care of my paper scraps and even small pieces are useful when you are only stamping part of the image.  Today I decided to make a paper pieced Pokey Dog.  He's one of the *new* Lost Coast Designs animals stamps and he's such a cutie.

If you are using a stamping platform you can stamp your image on a scrap of paper and then position your scraps over the relevant sections.  I wanted to use patterned scraps and I picked some with small tight patterns to ensure they looked good on the smaller fussy cut pieces.

I stamped Carmen's Veranda Staircase with grey ink and gave it a grey and pink watercolour wash.  I stamped Carmen's Veranda Happy Birthday and Never To Late sentiments on white card, fussy cut and edged with black ink.
Thanks for dropping by.  Link up your stamped anythings featuring animals for your chance to win some Lost Coast Dollars.

Selfie

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a fun card for you.

Stamp Used:

I started out die cutting 3 black film strips and then 3 white cardstock inserts.

Next, I stamped Poky cat on the 3 white pieces of paper in different spots to go inside the film strip.

OfCourse when you are taking a selfie you always get photos you don't like. He had a few.

I then embossed a piece of red cardstock with a 3D brick wall. I felt he was going to hang up the selfies on a wall. I also added some number washi tape and buffed it into the brick wall to blend it in.

I must say I didn't come up with this idea I saw it on Facebook from someone else, but I put my own spin on it.

You can join the challenge over at The Lost Coast blog.

Birthday Bird pop-up card

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone! Aimee here. Lost Coast Designs is hosting an Animal Theme Challenge for September. This fun pop-up card features the new stamp Polly Parrot. Scroll to the end of this post to see a video of the card in action.
Making a pop-up card is much easier than you might think. The trick is a small, folded piece of cardstock with two cuts. This becomes the base of the cut out stamped image which allows it to fold down then pop up when opened.
I recommend using cardstock with a fun print on both sides as your card base, then cutting a smaller piece of white cardstock to fit inside that you'll decorate as a backdrop to your pop-up image. I love the Brush Strokes stamps for creating background patterns.
Choose a larger size stamp when making a pop-up card--it will make the biggest impact when opened. The Polly Parrot stamp is a great choice. Those spread wings just scream "Look at me!"
Add a sentiment from the Party Words stamp sheet and your card is ready to go! Kids and adults alike will love the pop-up surprise when they open this card.
Now it's time for YOU to create something with an animal stamp! Post to the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity for your chance to win September's prize.

Animals challenge, This Pokey Cat is so cute.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello crafters, Riet here.
Today I made a card with the leftovers of a background,
that I previously used to make an ATC Coin booklet.
Click here to see how to make them.
Or maybe you have leftovers that you can use.

The LCD stamps I used:

I also used:
Markers for the cat
Posca white
White stamping pad
Black stamping pad
gellpen
paper scraps.

This is how to make the card.
Take your scraps and a piece of white paper.

Weave some strips together and glue them on to the paper.

Then cut them out.

Glue it on a black base card.

Stamp the pokey Cat and color.
I used markers on waterbase.

Because his hair and whiskers are so hard to cut out,
you will stamp the cat's head directly onto the card.
We'll glue the cat on later.

Cut the cat out and glue on the card.
Stamp on a piece off scrap paper the sentiment and glue it on the card.
Use a white posca, make a scribbled line around the braided mat.

Stamp the little flowers with a white inkpad.

Using a white gel pen, draw some effects on the cat and a dot of white on its pupils.

And that was the tutorial for this time.
Let me know if you liked it?
And don't forget to join the challenge.
You probably have an animal stamp in your collection,
make something fun with it and join in.
You can also join with other brands.
Maybe you will win this challenge.
